I don't normally ever leave bad reviews but i do wish it was a better experience being so close to where i live. I haven't gotten my nails done in a long time however I had gone quite frequently in the past to an amazing nail technician and place. One - it's very cold in there. Not too pleasant when you're sitting there for nails, and wearing fairly warm shoes. Two - the "quick dry" spray doesn't dry. Not to put your coat on isn't an option in the winter in New England. Having a place to dry your nails needs to be in place or atleast communicating to your client just sit here for x more minutes then we can check them. And lastly a smooth looking nail is expected when you pay for nails. I do my nails all the time at home the only different is that smooth finish you hope to achieve by a nail technician. The simple nail art did come out beautiful. Honestly, the salon itself is a no for me altogether with a less than average experience. I don't recommend it. I can be more specific of other issues but I honestly don't like leaving these kinds of reviews. I think the salon owner needs to pay more attention to details while there are far too many nail salons to choose from that capitalize on one of these issues. I stumbled upon this place and wish i had found it sooner. It's great! Appointment only. Onlije boolong system. The salon is clean and fresh. The staff is licensed and friendly. I started with a pedicure, and it was a full 45 minutes in the glorious massage chairs pictured. I'm several weeks out, and my toes still look fantastic. I then decided to give them a shot with my lash tint and lift. Again, it was a great professional job. Prices are reasonable. Have been coming here for mani and pedi since 2019 and then all hell broke lose with Covid. Glad to see my fave staff are still here and some new faces. Clean, high quality, good colors and covid safe. Plastic partitions everywhere you'd want them and the staff wears gloves and masks. I went here yesterday to get my nails done for a graduation. The studio was clean (which meant alot to me), the staff was friendly and very meticulous in doing my nails. My technician was newer and she was very respectful and asked many times during the process how I was liking my nails and had a great attitude that gave me a very positive experience. She started training my nails towards a new shape that I wanted and was very knowledgeable about the products offered. A bit of the polish seemed to dry where I believe it was hidden under my nail end and then came out with more hand washing and use, but I was very happy with the finished product. read more

I'm bummed. Everyone was nice at the salon and the appointment was easy to book. Unfortunately, I got a gel manicure done on a Friday before my trip & by Tuesday when I landed in Hawaii, my nails had chipped. Usually gel manicures last up to two weeks. This didn't make it past 4 days. My pedicure also didn't last. It was a regular pedicure and was also chipped. This place is near my house, so I was hoping I would be able to go back more regularly, but I will not be returning. Not at all worth the money I spent. I ended up using regular quick dry polish on my vacation as all the gel peeled right off my nail. Very disappointing. read more

My nail specialist was ready for me when I arrived for my appointment. My nails were really cared for by Jolie. This wasn't a quick in / out hurry manicure. I appreciate that they have an online appointment management system, it makes it so easy to book and change appointments as needed. I was also really impressed with their adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines. Everyone from the front desk to the techs are very friendly. I liked it so much that I decided to get manicures regularly (I've never done that in my life!). So once every 5-6 weeks, I get a gel manicure that lasts me 3-4 weeks as a treat. It makes me feel so pretty. They do a great job of cleaning up and shaping the nails. They really take their time and don't make you feel rushed. First, for those living anywhere near the center of Wallingford, its location on Ward Street, just beyond the RR tracks, couldn't be more convenient. There is a pleasant and spacious parking lot in the back and a ramp (for those who might need this) leading up to the door. The room is small--meaning pretty and intimate--and scrupulously clean. The white surfaces sparkle and gleam. The professionalism of the place begins as soon as you walk in: you are handed a fact sheet to fill out (somewhat like what you fill out at a doctor's office), and all the questions are clearly meant to ensure your safety, comfort, and excellent experience. April is gentle and lovely in manner and clearly an intelligent woman who also has the drive to start her own business. She does nails like an absolute expert. My feet had not had any TLC for a long time, and she gave me a pedicure (with leg massage) that left them feeling wonderful and looking beyond gorgeous. Did I mention that when I told her what kind of color I wanted on my toes, she picked the perfect shade in less that five seconds? On top of all this, the price is very reasonable, and much lower than other, lesser salons in Wallingford. First-time customers receive a 20% discount, and there is a Rewards Program for continuing customers. This is now my go-to salon for as long as I live in Wallingford (and I'm planning to live here for quite some time). I can't recommend it more highly--you'll have a great experience! read more

I would start off by saying everyone I interacted with was pleasant. With that said, I thought it was a bit odd that they asked me to wash my hands when I came in. Unfortunately I just don't think what you get for the price is worth it. I had a "signature pedi" ($48). exfoliating scrub was very brief and the foot massage was more like a foot rub and noticeably longer on one foot than the other. Also there were not alot of options for nail colors and most looked old. Some were on a lower shelf which made it hard to see them and you had to bend down to look. No massaging chairs (or I wasn't offered or told it was one). No nail dryers also. Only 2 seats in the front ( for everyone...nail drying, customers waiting, etc) that I was told I could sit at if I wanted to wait for my nails to dry. It was left to me to take out the toe separator things as no one came over to offer or check my nails after I sat. Just not the service I expected. Especially for charging a premium for a just a regular pedi. read more

Based on the all 5-star reviews, I decided to check out this place. I wasn't sure what to expect when I got to the location; you have to drive over the train tracks and then go into a house that's been converted into a salon. First, I was impressed with the professionalism of the signage. I think the first impression you get from how a company identifies itself is really important. It was very clearly marked where to park behind the house and where to go to get to the salon. The salon itself is gorgeous. Beautiful plank tiles on the floor, very light gray walls and spectacular chandeliers. The place was sophisticated, welcoming, comfortable and immaculate. I was curious about why you had to make an appointment in order to get in. The reason is that there are two people who regularly work at the salon and a third person who can be called in. Since they have already gotten a very loyal clientele they do not often have to put a sign out front welcoming walk-ins. Because of the neighborhood they are in there is unlikely to be much foot traffic anyway. Angel did my signature pedicure. I had not had a pedicure in a while so there was some work to be done. She was very fun to talk to as was the other woman (I didn't catch her name) and did an incredible job on my feet and nails. She took all the time that was necessary to make sure I left looking my best. This will definitely be my go-to salon for my nails. read more

I was recently looking for a new salon and decided to give this place a try! What an awesome experience! The decor is wonderful, the atmosphere is very relaxing, and everyone there is extremely professional! Absolute perfection! Angel did my nails and I love them! I generally get a shellac manicure but I tried a spa pedicure (they had a great special) and it was the best YET! Hands down! The products she used left my skin felling great! Usually about an hour or so after I leave other places, my skin is dry again. The products here are very moisturising! I love different designs and colors and this place is able to give me exactly what I am looking for every single time! Angel is very creative! My nails look perfect for about two weeks-it's great! I live in East Windsor, so this is a bit of a ride for me but I say that to say that proves how wonderful they are! This is the CLEANEST nail salon I have ever seen. They actually do what they're supposed to and go through a full cleaning process between each pedicure--they don't just spray it down and call it a day so you can catch nasty things from strangers like other places! And the best part is the polish lasts super long. Usually my nails are a mess within a couple days so I only get them done for special ocassions but at this place I went OVER A WEEK without anything chipping off. It's like magic. The women here are the absolute best at what they do and are genuinely nice people you'd want to hang out with. Lisa is the owner and has done both waxing and a manicure for me. She does her job so well and really makes you feel pampered. Heather has also done a manicure for me and a pedicure. She's fun to talk to and is so knowledgeable about nail care! Usually when I get a gel manicure from one of those in and out places it's peeling after a week. My manicure was impeccable still after 3.5-4 weeks! The space is beautiful and well decorated. Went here yesterday and had an expensive pedicure with Ashley. My feet needed a lot of work because I haven't had a pedicure in over a year. She really got in there and fixed my toe nails. My feet are soft, but I am taking 1 star away because they stopped using the warm wax treatment. That was what I was most excited about. For $75, it should be included. I didn't even get to tip her (which I am trying to figure out now) because you either have to have cash, or download an app to transfer the tip through your bank account....just an inconvenience (and another reason for the star drop). They did treat me well though and they offer coffee or water as soon as you come in. It is a very calming place and still very clean. read more

It was the best experience I have had getting a mani/pedi. As soon as I walked in I was warmly welcomed. Heather was my nail technician. She explained the steps to me as she went along. Heather even explained why I have had issues with peeling skin after previous manicures (elsewhere). Conversations were fluid, fun, and full of information. Heather has 29years of worldly experience as a licensed technician. It was a blast learning from and talking with her. The prices at the Nail and Wax room are more than reasonable.
