The reason I'm finally writing it is because I recently had a conversation with a friend who was telling me about her experience doing EMDR with a therapist. As she was telling me about her experience, I realized she was describing the exact same things I experienced. I told her that was actually why I had given up on therapy altogether, because that experience was my last straw. She jokingly asked me if her name was Erin and could not believe it was the same therapist. I originally went to Erin specifically for EMDR. (I was very very excited to do this by the way and I'm not comfortable ever doing this again because of my experience) I was referred by someone who ironically had the exact experience as Me and my friend except she thought because she had been seeing her for years, she was just getting close to her. I too spent much of my sessions listening to her talk about her own personal life. I understand that therapists sometimes share personal experiences if it helps the client, but there's a big difference between that and making your client feel like they're listening to your problems instead. I also want to note that she told me she would message or send me an email 5-10 minutes before our next session and I never received anything so I called the office frantically and finally got connected after 15 minutes. Once I was able to talk with her, she said "oh I forgot you were one of the people I have to send every single time a reminder" and also said that the front office has no idea what they are doing. This may be a bad representation of Pattinson counseling but I hope this helps someone in deciding what therapist is right for them.

It is illegal for a mental health professional to use someone else's license to bill health insurance. This is insurance FRAUD. I was being seen by an intern at Pattison Professional Counseling and Mediation Center. I noticed a strangers name on the claims submitted to Tricare by them which resulted in questioning their billing practices. They claimed because Rebecca Bortnyik was the supervisor, she could bill my insurance as if she provided the care. A quick google search proved this to be incorrect and ILLEGAL so I questioned them again as to why someone in their office that I had never met was billing my insurance. I was met with many excuses and lies so I requested my records, which took months to recover, and reported the fraudulent billing practices to Tricare. I currently have a bill at Pattison for over $5000, while also being told that I do not owe this amount via the owner, Susan Page. I am now also being denied care by the RN there, Samantha Ervin, that managed my medication after I questioned an insurance claim where I was billed for a couples counseling, which I have never been to. If you have been seen by anyone at Pattison Professional Counseling, I highly suggest you review your insurance documents and make sure that the rendering provider on those documents is consistent with the professional that you received care from. If it is not, you can submit fraud reports to your insurance via their website as well as local authorities, especially if you paid for these services. You also have the right to request and question your billing as a client at any mental health facility. I am sharing my story in order to help shine light on this issue of unethical and abusive behavior in our community. No one should have to deal with this sort of treatment when seeking help. TIA
