So this is going to be a very mixed review-…read more I've been going to the Prohaircutters in the Rockaway Mall for 6+ years now because I had found a guy who do a flattop and not screw it up. 6+ years Elliot cut my hair and now he's gone-he's back in NYC because coming to Rockaway was a pain in the neck-especially from what I saw of the way the manger and the assistant manager treated the guy. I found a new guy, Caesar, and he does a great job on my hair and my son's hair. So because I dont have to find a new barber, I'll keep going-for a while at least. Now, the rest of the story (thanks Paul Harvey)-I go in on Saturday and see a sign that says: "Effective Sept 1, 2012 due to increase (sic) costs by our credit card companies, we apologize in advance for your inconvenince, however, gratuities will no longer be accepted on credit or debit cards." What a crock of crap. They dont want to take credit cards-fine, then don't, but don't give me this crap about not being able to put a tip on the card...cheap, nickel and dime crap right there. One last thing, the assistant manager is rude, obnoxious, and a real b*#ch who takes pride in harrassing the barbers/hair dressers instead of letting them do their jobs. Listen lady-NO ONE cares what the person cutting their hair is wearing as long as they do a good job. I don't care if they talk to each other, take a quick call, or take a drink if soda-let them do their jobs and leave them alone! The guy who now cuts my hair is great (4 stars), but this place is going down the tubes...(-2 stars)

James took 35 minutes for a full wash, cut, and dry. While I have to admit it wasn't the most luxurious experience I'd still recommend others. First off, it's very reasonably priced. I don't think I've ever had a haircut for $32 in my life. That for a woman's haircut is unheard of. Secondly, James did everything in under an hour, which I appreciate given that I can just go during my lunch hour at work. All in all I think he really nailed down the cut that I wanted and when I had concerns he stopped to listen and reassure me that we were on the same page. I will definitely be coming back.

I've been going to her for years for cut and color, and at this point I've come to know her almost as a friend. She's so easy to talk to, and I always enjoy catching up with her -- we even bonded over the same trash TV shows. She just makes the whole experience comfortable and enjoyable. When my schedule didn't line up with hers, I started seeing Alyssa, who is also amazing. She's very energetic, outgoing, and fun to spend time with, and she's extremely good at what she does. She really takes her time with you, and I love that she does the wash herself and she gives a great head/neck massage, which makes the whole experience even better. Most recently, I saw Brielle when I couldn't get in, and she was wonderful as well. She is so sweet and gentle. I actually found myself nodding off while she was washing and blow-drying my hair after a long day, which says a lot about how relaxing the experience was. I typically get a cut and single-process color, and I've also had highlights done there in the past. They keep all of your color information on record, which is really helpful because you can confidently see any stylist and still get consistent results. Honestly, you can't go wrong with any stylist here. Everyone is skilled, welcoming, and easy to talk to. The salon itself has a very homey, comfortable feel, and the prices are reasonable, which makes it even better. I always leave happy and highly recommend this salon.
