We absolutely loved our session with Kelsey from Serenity Tree Yoga! We did a chilly morning beach yoga session, a perfect blend of power and restorative yoga - we got to pick the style of the class. This was a highlight of my Charleston bachelorette and I would highly recommend it! My girls had the absolute best time. We did our session on Sullivan's Island and made a res at Obstinate Daughter for brunch afterwards- I would highly recommend that plan if you are looking for where to go. We also were able to set our Airbnb as a backup location incase it rained, but we got a sunny beautiful day on the beach! Wish I could do this all over again!

We loved our session with Lauren in Charleston, she came to our vacation rental and lead us through a custom yoga session. She went above and beyond with some thoughtful gifts for the bride and refreshing cold face towels at the end. Communication was great, the whole team was respectful and on time. They can bring mats for you if you need them. I would definitely recommend and do this again. Thanks Lauren!

As a distance runner, I can be pretty bad about stretching and cross training. I used to practice yoga regularly, but got out of the habit because affordable yoga can be hard to find. Charleston has tons of places to practice yoga, but for those of us who only do yoga a few times a month (or if you're new to yoga and testing the waters), buying passes or annual memberships is pricey. Some friends invited me to a donation-based beach yoga at Folly, and I took them up on the offer. I wasn't sure what to expect because I'd never done yoga on the beach and it was quite windy at Folly. The instructor, Melora, was a pro and you could tell she has a lot of experience doing beach yoga. My mat was blowing around, but she showed me that you could dig 4 holes in the sand, bury each corner of the mat and cover it with sand, and it would stay down. Talk about a genius idea I hadn't thought of! The classes are held at 6th avenue, and there's a parking box and small lot located nearby. The practice was for all levels and abilities, and Melora has an assistant who walks around and helps her and they will make or show you adjustments for poses. The class is very basic, but she gives you free time toward the end where you can do handstands, shoulder stands, or whatever you'd like. She encouraged everyone to make the practice their own and keep it fun. At the end of our practice, she placed a cold cloth over our eyes- perfect for a hot summer day on Folly! The beach makes the experience, and most of us took a dip in the water afterwards. After class, I returned my cloth and made a donation. You can give as much or as little as you want, but the experience is worth the price of a class at a studio. I definitely recommend beach yoga and hope to continue going to Serenity Tree Yoga. If you're a beginner and just want to try it, or a seasoned yogi looking for somewhere new to practice, you should check it out. Plus, you're conveniently on Folly for brunch or a dip in the ocean when you're done!

Can't say enough positive things about our experience with Serenity Tree Yoga and Melora! We did a morning yoga class at our Airbnb during my sister's bachelorette party. Melora perfectly tailored the class to what we were looking for and it was the perfect way to start off our morning and first day in Folly Beach - especially given we had a late night the night before. When I first reached out they responded quickly, were super communicative leading up to our trip and kept in touch while we were there! I only wish they had a Serenity Tree Yoga where I live so I could take classes all the time.

Um this was THE highlight of or bachelorette trip in Charleston. Melora and her crew were so helpful and communicative while booking our private beach yoga session and we all truly treasured the experience. The bride absolutely loved it. The sound of the waves while our toes dig into the sand as we did yoga combined with the soothing voice of the yoga instructor, Jennifer, was so otherworldly. Highly recommend. They were also able to work with some special accommodations and they seemed to really care that we had a balanced and enjoyable time. So glad we did this.

We had a great experience with Savannah for a private two person session at Waterfront Park. Great price and a very relaxing uplifting experience. Class type was suitable for all yoga levels! We will definitely be back. Savannah helped us find the location easily and was very kind and helpful, she even took pictures for us!

There's just something about Masie. The way she talks to students, the way she grows new teachers,…read morethe way she sets up the space. It's not like any other yoga studio. The space: Absent are the mirrors at other studios that tempt you to look at your body and compare it to others; in their place is the warm wood of the beautiful old space, and the calming tree and drishti painted on the walls. Masie and her staff are the ones to correct your alignment with a word or gentle touch. That way you stay focused on the practice and don't get ripped away by the outside world. The space also has a bathroom and changing room, and they offer massage in house. It feels like coming to someone's home and having a communal experience with the instructor and the other students. The classes: All levels and some more challenging classes. Masie is always learning new elements and new practices. Her curiosity is infectious, but somehow she never makes you feel foolish or intimidated because you don't know something. Her instructors are obviously chosen for what new ideas they bring as well, or a capacity to receive new ideas. You can pick up some Tai chi and Yoga Nidra among many other things in the yoga and other classes. One of my favorite was a class called moon flow where she put together a variety of lunar poses and made certain "Yin" tweaks to postures (like looking down instead of up, which is yang). It was such a little change that made the practice seem new and fresh and slightly spiritual. The instructors: Masie is obviously the center of this universe. Her radiance draws you in and sustains you throughout classes. She is thoughtful without being stoic, loving without being insipid, and firm without being judgmental. The teachers that work for her obviously all feel it too, and everyone she hires seems to pick up at least part of what makes her such a great teacher. She completely changed my outlook on yoga because of her wholistic approach. The studio somehow manages to be genuinely inspiring instead of a collection of fitness models spouting a string of platitudes like so many other places. Some of her instructors are very experienced, and some are homegrown by Masie. All of them share this mindset of a whole mind-body-spirit practice that is never too much of any one good thing. I used to come here after work, and I too have arrived too late for class. I was disappointed but it's best for everyone - I needed those few minutes before beginning to unwind and get ready. There were times I've been so exhausted from the day that the practice would take me straight from the helter skelter into relaxed bliss. Don't skip coming to class. Leave early. Talk to the other students and the instructor. Be open and friendly before class. Learn about yoga and yourself. Did I mention there was amazing relaxing retreats to beautiful places like Hawaii and Arizona and North Carolina?

Erin is a knowing, accepting and highly compassionate person. Treatment is peaceful and relaxing, yet highly effective. After the first session my body and mind felt lighter. A few days after I noticed myself thinking different thoughts and seeking out things in my life that were more spiritually fulfilling. I started turning down all the external noise and listening to my internal voice. I found myself thinking of dreams long ago put on a shelf and taking action. I was able to clearly see where I needed to draw boundaries and put them in place in a calm self affirming manner. I was able to prioritize what is important in my life and take action to make that happen. In addition, people that I come across in my daily life started noticing the positive external changes created by the internal shift that Erin's healing helped me manifest. My treatments have opened me up to looking at my future with hope and happiness and anticipation of dreams coming true. As a healer Erin left me with tools to continue moving forward and healing myself, but when I get stuck it is good to know that I can return for treatment to continue moving myself towards my happiness and my dreams.
