But it took the Sun Sentinel naming them as having the best Key lime pie in South Florida to finally get me to stop and find out if the pie could live up to the hype. Spoiler alert: it absolutely could. We actually went out of our way to try it, and the vote was justified. The Key lime pie was rich, silky, sweet, and tart. Exactly what a great Key lime pie is supposed to be. And ours came served in a mason jar. Because apparently pie tastes even better when you can eat it out of something that looks like it belongs on a front porch in the South. The texture was perfect, the flavor was spot on, and that sweet-tart Key lime balance was exactly what I was hoping for. So, after driving past that giant orange for years, I finally stopped.
