I've driven past the giant orange at Bob Roth's New River Grove hundreds of times over the years. Hundreds. But it took the Sun Sentinel naming them as having the best Key lime pie in South Florida to finally get me to stop and find out if the pie could live up to the hype. Spoiler alert: it absolutely could. We actually went out of our way to try it, and the vote was justified. The Key lime pie was rich, silky, sweet, and tart. Exactly what a great Key lime pie is supposed to be. And ours came served in a mason jar. Because apparently pie tastes even better when you can eat it out of something that looks like it belongs on a front porch in the South. The texture was perfect, the flavor was spot on, and that sweet-tart Key lime balance was exactly what I was hoping for. So, after driving past that giant orange for years, I finally stopped. This is definitely not what I was expecting. We visited this place over the weekend because I kept seeing all of these hyped up Instagram posts from other individuals, so I said let's give it a shot. When we arrived, it was very crowded and parking was limited. With some patience you will eventually get a spot that opens up. It's a nice farm stand vibe, with lots of fresh options and baked goods. Price seems reasonable for the area, and for the hype I suppose. The staff is very friendly. Ordering process is a bit on the slower side, and it took a while to get the 2 stinks we ordered. We did also purchase a small cheesecake in a mason jar, along with some fruit candies, everything came up to around $35 dollars. This is a nice place to come to visit if you're inquisitive about the hype, but I honestly can't see us coming back anytime soon. read more

We've drove by a million times and rarely stop in. It's a quick turn to get into the parking lot. But, parking is free and there are a bunch of seats to sit down at. We ordered smoothies and shared a Cuban sandwich. Everything tasted delicious. The smoothies came out fast. The sandwich was a short wait. There are a few mannequins that were old and it made us laugh because our child thought they were real for a short moment. The only negative we had was no functioning bathrooms. This open air farmstand is famous for their Key Lime pies, fresh juices and smoothies. A whole Key Lime Pie cost $23 well spent as this pie is one of the best in the area perfect tart flavor and creamy. You must try along with their smoothies made with fresh fruits. They also have a bakery . We picked up a couple loaves of their banana bread. Simply delicious the kind that disappears before you realized you started eating it. I would go back and try it again. Hands down the best Key Lime Pie in South Florida! Can't miss the big orange outside driving by as it's the famous landmark that identifies the Grove. I always come stop by for a pie fixing and when in season the amazing sweet honeybells Love this little grove as everyone is kind and provides great service. They have the little cafe for a quick bite with some outside seating areas. Further in is the good stuff with their famous pies and smoothies. The perfect place to pick up some holiday pies! Bob Roth's New River Groves has Terry's Famous Key Limes Pies and so much more so I decided to support local this holiday season and grab some for my Thanksgiving celebration. I picked them up the day before Thanksgiving and was worried they'd run out or have a long line but to my surprised, it worked like a well-oiled machine. Parking is a bit limited but everyone seemed to know what to do and there was a lot of in and out for parking, which made it easy to pick up some pies, quickly. After I parked, I was able to walk in and saw so many pies stacked high in different parts of the main area. If you're looking for freshly baked pies, they had those out and consistently coming out. For the cream pies, they had them refrigerated and ready to go. They had SO MANY pies to choose from, it made my choice a bit hard. The staff was super friendly and efficient. I ended up picking a blueberry pie since I haven't seen those in a hot minute and also the oreo cream pie. The blueberry pie came fresh out of the oven, which made my choice to pick that super easy and it smelled delicious! Both were a hit for my Thanksgiving dessert and I can see why these pies are famous in Broward! They are a bit steep in price but, in my opinion, well worth it if you get more of the specialty flavors. I'm not a huge fan of blueberry pie but, after this one, I am now a blueberry pie fanatic. Best Key Lime Pies and a whole lot of everything else. From the road, look for the orange building and the big orange in the parkingl lot. It was very easy to get to the store and it is also a great place to take fun photos after you shop and eat. There is a pretty nice outdoor area with fans to enjoy a fresh milked coconut or a slab of fudge that is all fresh made. They have some great canned and jarred juices, jams and sauces as well as fresh gator meat and coffees. I went for lunch and then bought some other things because they were just so cool. read more

We normally get their pies but on this visit, my husband wanted to get some marmalade. He had tried to stop by during the week but the parking lot was full so he didn't stop. It was busy today but we were able to find a parking spot. They had live entertainment and an area where you could sit and drink your coffee and have something to eat while you enjoyed the music. This family owned gem was a peaceful breakfast stop for me and my family. The staff is friendly and brought the found out to us, which is different from your everyday pick up breakfast spots. The sitting area is outdoors, so we were able to enjoy fresh air and the cute decorative details. I had the arepa with steak, eggs, cheese, and avocado. It was yummy and filling. The meat was good but they rushed the sandwich which made the quality suffer. Waited 15 min for it, and i saw the girl pushing down on the press to try and hurry and toast it. Well that didnt work. The bread was not crunchy at all, pretty soft. $5 for a small cup of their pies. I can't even tell you how many times I've passed this place and I'm always curious but have never checked it out. We were coming back from Oakland Park and passed the spot when my husband said we should stop by. I said yes, please because I've never been. he says this place is popular to buy some nice gourmet food gifts for corporate clients. This spot is very eclectic. So many things to see. I'm surprised it's taken me so long to write a review for this place because I've been coming here for more years than I can remember. From pies to homemade fudge to fresh squeezed juices and fresh produce, this place has it all! They also have a small area where you can get some pastries, empanadas, coffee and smoothies. If you like fresh coconut water they have that here also and it's especially fun to drink it right out of the coconut if you choose that option. The big star of this place however are their pies! Blueberry, apple, banana cream and key lime are among their many offerings with their key lime pie definitely being among the best in the county, just trust me on this. In case you're not looking for a full key lime pie they also offer smaller sizes in cute little mason jars. Staff is helpful and it's very organized even during the holiday season when the place is packed with people getting their holiday pies. I love how the majority of the products are locally sourced. They have a gigantic assortment of jams, jellies & marmalades that look delicious. There's loads of honey to choose from that have been extracted from various flowers. If there's a fruit or vegetable you can think of, it's likely they carry it. Want some fresh-squeezed juice? Then look no further. You can even get refreshing coconut water straight from the coconut (as it's chopped open in front of you) or grab a bottle to throw in the fridge for later. However you prefer, it's likely you won't find a fresher option. "Terry's famous key lime pie" is absolutely phenomenal. It's every bit of tangy, sweet & refreshing that you expect. You can get it in single serve cups, mason jars or as a whole pie but why would you get anything less than a whole?! This pie alone is worth the visit. I've been lucky enough to eat it for years & it seems to get better every time. The only downside is the prices can be a little high. I understand you get the quality you pay for but there's some things I'd opt to get at a grocery store. Employees are always helpful so that's a plus. The only downside was that I went early and they were out of oatmilk so make sure you ask first. The avocado toast had a fried egg, bacon, and opted for no steak but I instantly regretted it. Everything was so fresh and light. The staff is always friendly and there is ample parking and seating every time I go. There are juices, fruits, a little restaurant to grab food, and soups available. They've been in business along time and I get why! Service from their employees is also great. A Florida classic! They've been around since the mid-1960s and still have the facade and interior that I've seen for the last decades, with some modest updates. Store is open-air and covered. Fresh fruit, sweet packaged treats, homemade pies including key lime / fruit / many more, fresh smoothies of all kinds (I loved the #10 which is mango / banana / pineapple / coconut -- the piña colada got even more tropical), soups for a chilly 60° Florida day (I enjoyed the shrimp & corn chowder, which was creamy and sweet), sandwiches on a grill, and much more. Pies are sold whole or you can get the vibe of them in three different sized desserts in jars, or a key lime milkshake. The good is they have fresh fruits, and lots of options for things to buy there. The bad is they have food for sale with no dates on the packages so you don't know how old they are. The cinnamon rolls no date. I got a batch that were Just nasty, waste of 20 bucks. Yeah I said 20 bucks for six cinnamon rolls, drier than a desert. Don't spend your money on those. The employees are not that nice. They're just straight up, is that it? Can we get you to smile, less talkie talkie with the staff and just to be nice I've been there three times now and no one's really nice like when you go into anywhere they're like hi how are you? Hi how can I help you and you don't get that you don't get the hi, you get, what do you want, or just the word Next, so they really need to learn a little bit more about customer service and I think everything that they sell should have dates as to when it was made or when you need to eat it by and you don't have that on some of the items there whether they make them or they have people come in as vendors and drop food. They need to have dates. To spend $20 on something that you have to just turn around and throw in the trash is crazy. I can't take it back because I live very far away from that place. Stopped in for fresh fruit, the fruit was nothing special and I noticed a wheat grass station and a fresh coconut station, there is a giant pile of coconuts on premises that seem like they can be cut and you get a straw. The place has the overall vibe of a wacky tourist trap curiosity including a section of gator heads and teeth which was just so very on brand. On my way out I noticed a woman getting a giant stack of 8-10 Terry's Famous Key Lime Pies and when I looked they were $22 each. I reasoned that is a lot of pie so this has got to be a stand out item in this roadside spot so I decided we needed to investigate what was going on and grab one based on the person ahead of me buying more than she could carry. When we got back to our vacation rental we all agreed this is the most outstanding Key Lime Pie we ever had and while we are from the NE and no experts we did try all the top ones in Key West and this totally stood out and is worth a drive if you are in Ft Lauderdale for a visit or to head out on a cruise. Ordering here is quick and easy-- this is especially true when it gets busy over weekends or holidays. Efficiency could probably be improved because people tend to pile near the counter when it's busy, but the staff try their best and try to keep track of everything. There is a small cafe that includes a covered seating area, just be aware that there is no AC. Everyone is helpful and I've only had positive experiences here both with staff and other customers.
