When I got home and started asking questions, suddenly that "replacement" turned into a $2,250 "warranty fix." That was all I needed to hear--I showed that clown the door. I then called Slobodnik Services, and the difference was night and day. The tech showed up, actually diagnosed the issue, and found that insulation was choking off the refrigeration component. He put some duct tape around it, added half a pound of refrigerant, and had everything running perfectly--for $200. That's it. No scare tactics. No upsell. Just honest, skilled work. It's incredibly hard to find honest tradespeople these days, especially in HVAC here in Florida, where it sometimes feels like everyone is trying to sell you a whole new system whether you need it or not. This experience was a breath of fresh air. Honestly, I couldn't wait to pay the guy. Someone I know purchased their AC system from Ameritech. On the side of the AC Handler, they placed…read morea sticker with a graphic that says "AMERITECH. REPAIR IT. REPLACE IT. MAINTAIN IT." Do not be fooled. When their AC went out on a Saturday night, they sent a technician the next afternoon to fix it. Over the course of a four hour service call, the technician identified that the circuit board, and OEM product from Japan, would be needed in order to get the system back online. By the way, it was July in Florida. The company maintained that the circuitboard would not be available in the near future, and that the customer should call back in two weeks to check status. Again, July in Florida - with no air conditioning. Miraculously the part arrived six days after the original failure, and a technician was dispatched 48 hours later (no right away - 2 full days later) to install and complete repair. A different technician arrived this time, Alex. Alex opened up the AC Handler and within 10 MINUTES found that a fuse was bad and needed replaced. THAT'S IT! No circuit board was needed after all. Ameritech did not take responsibility for the error and charged over $400 for labor for the ordeal. ''Nevermind that the customer's system was misdiagnosed entirely, made to wait in the Florida heat inside their home, which exceeded temperatures of 85º inside with humidity. Alex is a great AC tech, no doubt about it. But Ameritech should have some degree of ethical standards, which they clearly have not shown in this case.

Ameritech installed two new units in our home, replacing 20 year old systems in November 2022…read morecosting about $18k. Since this time, the 2 tonne unit has stopped working on 3 occasions. The first time was during the cold spell in December so we had no heat. They came out and a few technicians looked at it and said it was an electrical issue (despite them checking the electrical panel when they installed the units). We had a new electrical panel installed. It worked for a while. Then in July 2023, the system shut off again. Their technician arrived out and said we needed to flush the system as water was backed up and charged us $325 for this. Now this week (Aug 2023) it has gone once more. We have a call into them to once AGAIN have them look at it but having your AC go ONCE AGAIN during Florida summers is unacceptable. At this stage we think that they installed a dud unit as three failures within the first 9 months is ridiculous. It seems that they'll promise the world when selling you a product but can't seem to install a reliable system. If I knew then what I know now, I'd go with another company. Bob is a smooth salesman but for us, their reliability speaks volumes. Update-08-20-2023 Ameritech installed the base platform for the units, this base is now sagging in the center and the units are not draining correctly. They're telling us that this is not covered by their warranty which is mind-blowing as they did all the work! They sent a technician out with four 6 inch plastic shims as if that can raise the attached units! Quite laughable if it wasn't so frustrating!

The tech looked at every thing and said I had a leak in my condenser unit coil. He could "hear it". So I asked if it was fixable. He said maybe not sure, and that someone will reach out to me tomorrow. Next morning their sales guy comes out and says you need a new unit. Later on in the day he sends a quote for $17,400. I call and ask if it's repairable, (I looked on line and I could by the part my self). He says the part is obsolete, really? I am looking at it on line and can have it at my door step in 2 days. So I knew it was BS and they just wanted to sell me a new unit. So to get another view I called American air and heat. There tech was more through than Scott's Tech and he pin pointed the leak quickly. Gave me a quote on the spot for $2100 and they had it fixed the next day.
