Our condo master bedroom & office were flooded as a result of a toilet malfunction, Servpro of North Sarasota did a fantastic job of drying out the carpeting and saving the wood floor. We had about 20 fans and 4 dehumidifiers going initially, they came everyday to check the progress and remove equipment as it was no longer needed. I think billing over $12,800.00 was excessive, but what can one do when they have a flooded home and are forced to sign a contract for services before the work can be done?!? Two very nice young men with ServPro came out late night and worked until early morning using equipment to suck up water from rugs and floors. They had to move some heavy pieces of furniture around, too. My closet was not emptied out and dried until the next morning when the larger crew came. Floors were torn up and walls were cut to get the wet drywall out for about half of my home. Somehow my bedroom door frame was damaged and will not close all the way during that process. My vacuum found several baseboard nails and debris under my adjustable bed frame. I had them come out for a bid to repair everything almost two weeks ago and I have not received a quote back yet. It might have something to do with my questions after-the-fact, like about the cabinets that had water run underneath them and why they were not removed during their process. When I asked about it, the estimator for repairs said it was so I was not left without a functioning bathroom. Now I am left wondering if mold is growing underneath and having to deal with the demolition myself to check. I suggest emailing instead of phone messages. Accounting department was great; the owners accepted full payment making an exception for credit card fees (they want their money right away, which is understandable since they have employees to pay for work done). I cannot really agree with their slogan "like it never happened," as I have been living in chaos in my home since December 19, 2023. read more

I have hired Servpro based on their nationwide reputation to mitigate flood damage after Debby tropical storm. I called the local Sarasota, FL, office to request help and 5 days later I got a response from Servpro of Northern Liberties of New Jersey an emergency mitigation team. I was promised complete service including the removal of flood damage and rebuilding afterwards by a local branch of Servpro. Instead, I got a half finished job of flood mitigation by the NJ company with questionable background and business practices. The company salesman offered no estimate or copies of any signed documents. Their quote was "no more than... and possibly less". After the mitigation, they held all paper work hostage until the bill was paid, where the bill was "more not less" than verbally quoted. To this day I have not received complete paperwork. The local branches of Servpro (in Venice & Sarasota, FL) never contacted me with a quote to fix the damages left behind Servpro of NJ, despite my several phone calls. All in all, Servpro in general and the local branches in particular offered terrible service with shady and outlandish prices, and opaque business practices. I will never use them again and warn other to be cautious as well. read more

Our laundry room flooded from upstairs condo. ServPro showed up quickly and dried out the floor, carpet, removed drywall, baseboards flooring. The fee was high...almost twice what I was told it would be. When they reconnected the hoses they mixed up hot and cold and did not properly reconnect drain hose. 8 weeks later the drain hose from the washer came out of the drain and flooded the floor and condo downstairs again. I called Servpro North Sarasota and told them I had mold concerns at my condo and they scheduled an appointment for November 19, 2020. The contractor, Jamie came and looked at all of my windows, stated there was no mold issues other than what was normal for Florida. He also stated there was not enough mold/mildew to be a health hazard. He said I would receive a report within 3 business days. I called on November 27, 2020 and talked to Brian to ask for the report. He said I would receive it the following week. I called again on Dec. 14, 2020 because I still had not received the report. I received an email response. It sounds to me like Jamie gave me a true assessment, then they waited almost a month to get me the report and now they're trying to scare me into thinking I have a mold issue and need mold "assessment" and "remediation." They already did an "assessment on Nov. 19, 2020 and said there was no issue. Now they're giving me a totally different perspective/response. I would never recommend this company! The following was their email response: "The issues in your condo could be caused by long term water intrusion at the windows. The visual inspection showed surface mold/dust in and around these windows. You may require mold remediation of the affected drywall which would require utilizing IICRC S520 mold remediation guidelines. That could include containment,remediation equipment (air scrubbers/dehumidifiers) as well as controlled demo of affected wallboard and subsequent replacement. If you want to address the surface mold only at this time we can hepa vacuum visual mold/dust, treat with SERVPRO approved anti-microbial. This is for visual mold only and would not constitute a mold remediation. That charge would be $350 min for 2 techs up to 2 hrs. Had the crew come out for a quote 3 days ago with the understanding that I need the quote that day or the next. They promised to delivery it in that time and 3 days later I have nothing but an empty promise. This quote was critical to closing on a property purchase and they let me down completely. I spoke with Brian about it every day about it and the apathy was really disgusting. I will not use them again, will be submitting a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and will make my way over to every other review for them to share this experience as well. read more

I called regarding a possible mildew problem in a closet. My appointment with Jeff was made for two days hence. On the morning he was scheduled to arrive I got a call from his office saying he was delayed on another job and that he would be late. He arrived at the rescheduled time and gave my closet a professional inspection. Since he found no problems he did not charge me. He also showed me the kinds of things to look for in the future and gave me some tips on getting rid of the odor I had mistaken for mildew. I was delighted with this service, though my experience may have been colored in comparison to one of Servpro's competitors who was much less professional. read more
