Judging by everyone's reviews, I'm in the minority. My friend and I decided to go out on a Friday night and check out a few new (to us) spots, so we started the night at Sessions. We got there around 8 and we loved the eclectic decorations. There was room at the bar, which was nice. My friend ordered the Flowers not War, and I ordered the Ready Aim Fire because I love me a good spicy drink. I was really excited when the bartender asked how spicy I wanted my drink, and I replied really spicy! So, I was really disappointed when there was not even a hint of spice. My friend and I traded drinks and agreed that mine had zero spice, and hers tasted like glittery seltzer (points for prettiness). We wanted to try something new with a good vibe, music in a great atmosphere so we went to sessions the waitress there was super nice and she was beautiful. She made sure that she took care of us and she did so with a smile on her face and the drinks were really good. Walking in, I definitely loved the space with the eye catching mural of this downtown Oakland cocktail bar. The vinyls are a nice touch. Our bartender was attentive and friendly. I came here for drinks with a new friend during the week which was a more lowkey experience. Sessions was on my list after seeing them on BoozieBrunch's IG Reels. Came by with some girlfriends to enjoy a night cap after our night out downtown. We were kind of confused upon entering, as we were the only people inside and the vibe was not disco ball fractured lights, spinning vinyls, or packed. BUT we were told that that's more of the weekend energy. So come on a weekday if you're a fan of having a more private bar experience (I'm all for it). We brought in our own food although the bar does partner with the restaurant next door, so you have options. We sat at the bar as those seats were more inviting, AND they have purse hooks. Restrooms are all genders and clean. Drinks were delish without the fanfare of the bougieness. My friends loved their old-fashioned and gin fizz. I really wanted to try the espresso martini as did my other friend, but we are not fans of vodka. And Vivi did us a solid and made it with mezcal. MM! So smoky, so unique. Brava. Vivi was the star of the night. Vivi was our bartender and kept us laughing and intrigued, sharing about the artist that created Sessions' eye-catching vinyl afro mural and the exciting music events on weekends. Parking was a-plenty on a late weekday evening (after 6pm), highly recommend Session's for a night cap on a chill weekday. This was my first time trying out this cute bar and 19/10 recommend! The le grand fizz was so refreshing like a starburst and it was totally my vibe so I think I found my go to bar whenever i'm in town my friend got the flowers not war or something like that and it was amazing too but I did like my drink better. The bartender was so sweet and did so great at answering my questions when I asked about my drink and what I like and what not. That really made the experience for me. This is such a cute and aesthetic bar! The inside is kind of small with a few chairs by the entrance, bar seating, and then a few more seats in the back. We went earlier in the night though so it wasn't too crowded and perfect place to grab a drink with your girls. We sat at the bar and I loved how there were purse hooks under the table to hang your purse or jacket! The bartenders were super nice -- answered any questions we had and were accommodating if we wanted to make a slight change to our cocktails. The drinks were really yummy -- we got the Taloma and Espresso Martini. The Taloma was sweet with some smokiness and the Espresso Martini is what you'd expect. Overall super fun! Would def go back for another girls night, or would be fun for a date (but would come early for that so it's not packed). read more

VIyNL?! okay, you caught my attention. I really loved the vibe and decor of this place. It looks like the perfect place to grab a drink and start the night, meet up with a potential someone or just catch up real quick with the girls/gworls. I don't believe they serve any food here, so I would love to come back and find out if they are good with bites from other places. I ordered the smoked whiskey negroni, because baby loves a presentation and shout out to the bartender, they loved to put on a show! Thankfully they also didn't have anymore campari (I do not enjoy) so I REALLY loved this cocktail. I can't wait to add this to my bar rotation. It is also in a great location to go bar hopping if that's your vibe and some of the bars look like they have amazing djs and so it can also be a great start to drinks and dancing. Found this place on Yelp and decide to try it out on a Friday night with my girls. The inside is very cute and has a good time. Their drink menu is small which I think is good as too many drink options can be overwhelming. The place was pretty full, but we were able to find a seat at the bar. The bartender was very attentive and made our drinks really quickly which was great. I had the Taloma and ale Grand Fizz and I definitely loved the Taloma a lot more. The place did have a $10 cover charge later on in the night which I believe included access to a social club next door as well and extended the hours till 1:30am/2am. The place did get a bit loud towards the end of the night so I might be returning a bit earlier on a weekend or stop by during the week next time. All in all I did like the bar and will be returning. read more

We went out a little after 11pm on Friday and stopped in for a drink at sessions. The ambiance was amazing. The music is a great volume and it wasn't overly crowded. There was only one bartender working but they communicated that they were grabbing another groups drinks and we were next. Overall, gorgeous spot my partner and friend loved! We had a Hawthorne, an Espresso Martini, a shot of DonJulio and Love that they play the entire album (Regina Belle's "All By Myself" was playing when we were there) and that the decor is like a seventies throwback. This bar is such a cool and chill place to unwind and have a drink. I did come on a week day and the owner said it gets pretty busy during the weekends which I'm sure would be just as fun.
