I called to…read moreinquire about when teachers for guitar and piano were and if they were there the same day so I could schedule lessons for my son and I the same day. They say, oh yes, that's not a problem. I also asked if we couldn't get to the Frisco location, could we move the lessons to Lewisville. They said yes. You cannot break the gift card lessons for different teachers though. I decided to buy the cards since my son was interested. I called to order the gift cards and they said I had to come in. I ignored this red flag and went to the store even though I live an hour away. After I knew our schedules after Christmas, I called to set up our lessons together. I thought this would be easy but it was anything but. I asked if we could book out certain dates and they were adamant that you had to have the same time each week. I said that was impossible for us for many reasons. I asked to book out the four lessons, which supposedly they did, however, then they said, we give a free lesson and then after that you will have those time slots available. Long story short, I went to my "free" lesson on a different day than my son because there were no times together. Then I went to schedule my lessons and the times were not available. Before I move on, I also have to note that when booking these lessons, they require a credit card. I asked why they needed a credit card since I have a gift card and we weren't planning on continuing lessons. They said it was the only way they could schedule the lessons. I left the store and got a text from my credit card company saying that they charged me $95. I immediately called and they said, oh we are so sorry, you should expect a refund next week. I went in for a lesson for my son and asked for them to refund me and they said it should be in the account soon. After 4, 5, 6, and 7 days I checked my credit card and there was no refund. Then I called again and they said that I had to come in to get this refund. I began classes and the teacher asked where my book was. I was never told that I had to buy a book. This is a minor detail but after all of the above, I was already frustrated. Then we had to deal with my son's lessons. I called and asked when the teacher was available. I said great, let's sign my son up. My son had the gift card and credit card at home so I asked him to call to get it set up. My son calls and the associate said that he couldn't set him up over the phone and he needed to come in. I was beyond livid at this point. I call them back and unfortunately had to be a major Karen. He asked why my son was asking to do two sessions at one time. I said that it really wasn't his business but I said that we live far so if we could do two sessions at a time, it would help. I then said that my son would call back and that I would like him to be able to schedule his appointments. I had tried for weeks to get us appointments together but their guitar teacher was only available on Saturdays, which my son was not available for now. I asked them to move me to Lewisville where they had more times and after a day, I got the OK that we could go to Lewisville. I am not sure if this has only happened to me but I can't tell you how much time and effort I spent to get these lessons and deal with this office. I work and have a million things I handle daily and this was anything but easy. Something fun turned into a pain in my *ss with all of the dumb rules. I know the associates are just doing as they are trained so it's not their fault. But I am not sure why they put so many barriers on this hobby. I have used them in the past to rent an instrument and they were fine. But this was a horrible experience and I would never, ever recommend them to anyone. I ended up cancelling my last two lessons and ate the cost because I just don't ever want to walk into that store again.

The person i spoke to was nonchallant and completely didnt care. I expect a refund. I did not use your service. I recommend people be careful before signing up. This is appalling and a bait and switch. This is not how business should be conducted.

Another music shop tipped me off that this place had several in stock, and upon calling I was delighted to discover that they did. Although they were initially asking over $100 more than some bigger guitar shops online, the manager agreed to match that price and I was able to take home a Yamaha Revstar! The shop itself is pretty cool. When you drive up on Main Street it appears there's a lot of construction and NOT a lot of parking, but this isn't the case - they have a spacious lot in the back. Enter through the black door and you'll find yourself emerging into the shop near a wall of ukuleles. The store basically appeared to have three areas. The first room had the strings, acoustic guitars, (maybe drums and keyboards, I'm not sure), etc. The second area seemed to have equipment for recording and maybe some effects. The third room was well worth traversing the labyrinthine layout for, because that's where they kept the electric guitars and pedals and guitar straps. Despite being a small business they have a great selection. The manager seemed super knowledgeable and helped me pick some extra strings to go with my new guitar at my request. One of the things that really stood out to me too is that they offer a 50% discount on set-up service when you buy a new guitar from them. Although the person who does it was out for the week, I fully intend to bring my guitar back in to get it set up for only 30-something dollars! (Although, it seemed to play great off the wall.) Overall this is a great local music shop and should be on every guitarist's radar.

Our daughter just has trouble focusing and while, our teacher, Ms. Natalie is a delight, the class just isn't working for her. Eileen will tell you anything to keep you paying your membership apparently and told us that we if the group classes don't work out for her, we can put her in a one on one class. Well here is how the payments work. It's not a month to month situation. It's a "membership." So all summer month you are paying ahead of time, and if you drop they already have your money. So now comes first day of this year's class. It absolutely isn't working for our daughter. My husband says he would like to change to the one on one class, and Eileen totally back peddles on what she said before and says, Oh no, you have to pay a whole new membership to do the one on one class. He asks if the money we've already paid would go towards that. She says no, you've already paid for the group class and you would have to pay the full amount to switch and won't get reimbursed for the group class. AND HERE IS THE WORST PART. She asks to speak to my husband privately and says "From the bottom of my heart, I care about your daughter and I know you do too. I don't think you should discuss her lack of focus in front of her because her efforts might not feel validated." He told her that is NOT her place and has nothing to do with piano class and he'll take that as a suggestion. Meanwhile I hear this and I am furious that Eileen would have THE NERVE to tell us to parent OUR child. And to turn things around on us when she wants to charge us thousands of dollars in addition to what we've already paid, to do one on one classes that would actually be an environment where our daughter can focus. The owner is two faced. She will act as though she truly cares about your child succeeding in piano and guilt you to stay signed up. But all she cares about is money.

Took my daughters instrument in on a Thursday for repair, excepting it to be ready for pick up next…read moreweek sometime. I got a call on Friday saying it was ready for pick up. The turn around time was exceptional and the service was great. We are in Marching season for High School so getting the instrument back immediately was outstanding. I will definitely be using them again for any work we need done on her instrument.

Additionally, the website states that they have recitals at The House of Blues in Dallas on their website. This is absolutely not true. These are held in some of the most uncomfortable locations. I'm very particular with what I'm looking for when it comes to the exact sound and touch in a piano, and I spent years searching for the perfect (for me) Steinway B, having tried out dozens and dozens of pianos in the process across many different locations. (As you may know, each Steinway is handcrafted and uniquely different in tone color and individual qualities.) Otis patiently helped me throughout the years during my search for my piano, offered his valuable advice during my selection and shopping process, and accompanied me many times to check out new inventory and pianos that came in at the Steinway Hall Plano and Dallas locations. When I couldn't come by in person, Otis recorded clips of himself playing various repertoire on different pianos that came in on various occasions, and he patiently answered all of my numerous questions each time. (On a side note, Otis is also a terrific pianist and has the widest repertoire on hand out of anyone I know. No matter what style of music you like, I guarantee Otis will be able to demo pianos for you, so that you can properly experience each piano's sound as a listener from a distance and not just as the pianist.) Whenever I had technical questions during the selection process regarding what could or couldn't be done with a specific piano's touchweight, note decay, voicing, etc., Otis enlisted the help of Steinway's master technicians, including Steve and Nowell who also offered their expertise and honest advice during my shopping process. Steve (who typically works out of Steinway Hall Dallas) kindly accompanied me to the Fort Worth and Plano Steinway locations to offer his technical advice. At some points earlier in my quest to purchase a Steinway B, I had previously considered purchasing a used piano from third party sellers or dealers other than Steinway, but I ended up deciding to purchase directly from Steinway Hall due to the excellent service I received there from Otis and due to the fact that I knew my piano would be in good technical hands with Steve, Nowell, and the team after my purchase for all future tunings and maintenance. Steve and Nowell are a wealth of knowledge and have prepared the best pianos for many of the world's greatest concert pianists, so you know you are in the best hands with them. Thanks to Otis and team's help, I finally found the perfect piano for me and purchased a brand Steinway Model B grand piano in Sterling Silver (a Special Collection / Limited Edition model) with the exact tone color and qualities that I had been searching for for years. As a pianist, it's been my lifelong dream to own my own Steinway B. This would not have been possible Otis and the Steinway team's help throughout the last few years. After my purchase, I have thus far been very impressed with Steinway's service department. Steinway kindly stored my piano for me for several months prior to delivery while I was waiting for the flooring of my piano room to be installed. Heather from the Service Team has been a real pleasure to work with and made sure to swiftly resolve any small issues that arose post-delivery. Otis personally made sure I was taken care of even after the purchase and kept in close contact with the service team on any questions or issues I had during the pre-delivery prep process and post-delivery, including stopping by my house to inspect the piano and offer his expert opinion on what needed to be done from a technical standpoint after delivery. From the excellent service I've received throughout the process, I knew I had made the right decision to purchase my piano from Steinway Hall directly, since I have not received this level of service from other places I have purchased pianos previously. Be sure to ask for Otis if you decide to buy a Steinway - he is THE BEST and will make sure you are well taken care of both before and after the purchase. You won't regret it!
