After being with my previous insurance company for 10 years, I chose to switch because my home and auto policies increased over $400 annually for the past 3 years. Two decades of paying my premiums and never missing a single payment. I recently changed bank accounts and did exactly what I was supposed to do. I logged into their website and updated my payment information. Apparently, they failed to properly process the update. The result? My payment didn't go through for the first time in more than 20 years. Instead of contacting a longtime customer and giving me an opportunity to correct what was clearly a payment-information issue, they canceled my insurance, dropped me as a customer, and charged me late fees on top of it. Twenty-plus years of loyalty apparently means absolutely nothing to this company. What makes this especially unacceptable is that I UPDATED MY PAYMENT INFORMATION. I didn't ignore a bill. I didn't refuse to pay. I didn't suddenly stop making payments. Their system failed to properly process the banking information I provided, and somehow I'm the one being penalized for it. If this is how they treat someone who has been with them for more than two decades and has a spotless payment history, imagine how they'll treat you when you actually need them to work with you. Customer loyalty clearly means nothing here. After 20+ years, they lost a customer over a single payment issue caused by an update to my banking information. Absolutely disgraceful customer service.
