When I was recently thinking back on my last conversation with Julie McCusker in order to write this review, I found myself considering whether I should suggest to her company that Julie teach a class for employees on how to talk with and interact with customers. But then I realized--what she has simply can't be taught. It's a gift. The words could be taught, perhaps, but not the presentation. Whenever I call Julie, her response is always warm and friendly, as though we've been longtime friends rather than two people engaged in the usual cool and crisp business communication. I can almost always picture a big smile on her face, as if she has just won the lottery. When I bring up my questions or concerns, I know that at 95 years old I can sometimes be forgetful, slow to think or respond, uncertain, or indecisive--all the qualities that many people experience in the stage of life we jokingly call the "Golden Years." If I try to excuse myself for making a mistake or needing more information, she immediately offers the answers, solutions, or guidance I need. Recently she sent me an email that I glanced at briefly, only to lose track of it somewhere on my computer. I felt a bit embarrassed, but when I contacted her for another copy, I believe it was back in my hands within a minute or two. I would need many adjectives to fully describe Julie: intelligent, knowledgeable, pleasant, understanding, happy, energetic, considerate, and--very importantly--honest and trustworthy. I truly believe she always has the customer's best interest in mind when handling any business matter. I trust any suggestion or advice she gives me. I still can't say enough about the terrific service from BenderHatch, and as someone who still can't figure out how Massachusetts figures our SDIP, I really need agents to explain it in English for me. Really, what are points, surchargable incidents (and why are ones that I think would be charged not actually charged?), clean in 3 and/or clean in 6 and WHY doesn't the state explain it simply on their website???
