At dinner time on a Saturday with the World Cup on one of the televisions, we visited to try the food and the beer. The pretzels and the sliders. The pretzels were the best we have ever had on this side of the Atlantic. We had one of each of the three types of sliders; the chicken was not that great but the other two were great. Nice brewery in Oakton. Bryan was the server at the bar and was friendly. They have unique beer flavors that I would highly suggest trying if you want something outside the box. Tasty though nonetheless, I enjoyed their Belgian style beer. They also have stouts, IPAs, etc. Lots of seating inside, good for large parties, food was good too. I'm glad the wings were not an afterthought like some other places. Look forward to coming to here again! read more

Wow, sleeper hit! I'm typically not a fan of bar food- but this place does it right! This is a great, pocket-sized bar in a strip mall in Oakton. They also have a sister space in Falls Church that I need to visit now, too. The staff was super friendly, offering their recommendations on food and drink. They were patient in my indecision and helped me make all my picks. In the end, I went their grilled cheese and tomato soup, which will envelop you in its coziness on a cold wintry day. And let me TELL YOU. That was the best grilled cheese + tomato soup I've ever had! I don't know what I was expecting. But the bread was light, perfectly buttered and toasted in just the right way to give it that chew. The cheese had a great melt and flavor. Then the soup! Move over, Campbell's. This was a housemade soup and you could really tell! I could taste the basil - it was perfectly seasoned and not overly tart or creamy. Just right. Who knew you could elevate such a simple staple like a tomato soup. My partner ordered a delectable stout to finish it all off, while our friends had their picks of IPAs and other beers. Hidden in a strip mall this location has on tap seasonal beers, wine, hose brewed cocktails, food and great service! You can try a sampler if you are interested in trying out the various beers and cocktails. I was adventurous and added the cold brewed vodka espresso to my order as a sweet, liquid dessert drink. It was good, but definitely packed a caffeine punch as well! The wings had tons of options for flavoring and I tried the slightly spicy Peruvian Aji Verde, which had crunchy skin and moist meat. Very tasty! The oversized pretzel as equally crisp on the outside with soft, warm center that melted in your mouth especially with the gouda cheese dip. So yummy! read more

Had to cancel our beach trip this weekend due to a nor'easter and made an impromptu meetup with friends here. Not knowing that they happen to have a band playing here for a fundraiser. We tried a flight of beers and I liked the Hazy IPA and Cherry Sour. BBQed brisket was a little dry but it was tasty. The wings are OK , but the sauce was a bit saltier than I prefer. Swung by what is probably our most local brewery for an afternoon beer. It's in a strip mall and has taken over two of the spaces in there. We went just for the beer, no food - I think a lot of the five star reviews are for the BBQ. Lots of space for friends, kids, big meetups, though we just sat at a high top and enjoyed one of the sports games while we tried our beers. Quality was fine, I thought the Kolsch was a little off but the others we sampled were good. Kind staff too. We'll try their space in Merrifield / Falls Church next. read more

The reviews don't lie, the food is pretty dang good. We got the frickleburger, frickles, and wings. They should be considered in that order. The burger was magnificent. Not too greasy, not too dry. Excellent! The frickles were lightly breaded and paired very well with the chipotle ranch. Beer was good but hard to compare to the food. Ngl vibes were interesting. Pretty dead on a Saturday night and music was all over the place (I'm talking Kesha and Jason Mraz...) but it fit our needs! Would recommend for a chill vibe. read more

SDE oakton is great. My favorite beer by far is the cloud 9 but they always have a good selection to try. Brian is awesome he is always friendly and gives a great input on things to try. Kennedy and Jax the other bartenders have always been just as welcoming and friendly. Great place to go and relax. Foods good beers great. Definitely recommend trying the grilled chicken sandwich with some fries and the bread pudding. read more

I have been to both locations and prefer the new Oakton spot. The beers to go can get a bit pricey ($24 for a 4 pack!), but it's a convenient location, nice and clean, with different types of seating, and offering flights. I think the way they do their flights is pretty cool too with color coding so it's easy to tell which drink is which. The food options at The Fermented Pig are also pretty tasty. read more

I visited last month with a group of people. The server was very helpful and informed us about the ordering and payment processes. We had a bunch of apps (charcuterie board, nachos, etc) and I ordered the chili. The food was awesome and very shareable. I had the IPA to wash it all down. Will definitely return with family. I don't want to give this one a 3 stars rating. But that's what the beers of settle down easy are. What I like is that this place is combined with the "fermented pig" restaurant which is awesome with excellent Barbeque options. Love the sliders, nachos, salads and pretzels. There's plenty of room and the ambiance is low key and inexpensive looking. Not pretentious. For settle down easy the service is ok....the lady at the bar was surly and awkward whereas the guy was friendly and professional. Their NE IPAs are average including their signature ones. The milk stout would rate a 4, as well as the unique lager brewed in bourbon casks. Looking forward to more and better brew options here. But for now I prefer going to Aslin brewing or the new Commonwealth brewing for great beer. But I want this place to do well hence the 4 stars. read more

Excellent brewery, friendly owners and staff, and the Gastropub quality permanent "food truck inside" restaurant with gourmet takes on pub fare is worth the stop.
