This is such a nice break away from the city. The drive was on a relaxing two lane road. You don't have to buy your ticket ahead of time you can get them at the store. There is someone out in the field to give you a basket and instructions on how to cut the lavender. They have lots of varieties that are marked and other flowers too. Their snack shack has some nice treats like lavender cupcakes, lavender ice cream, and lavender lemonade. Everyone in my party loved what they got. Lemonade was so refreshing and great. I got the jar and then went back for a refill. The store has lots of items. Everything from lotion, room sprays, candles, tea, lemonade kit, chocolate. My friends and I went during the perfect day! The weather was gorgeous and we felt like the scenery came out of a studio ghibli movie! We got tickets up arrival and saw a cat when entering the farm! We were helped by a lovely girl, she helped us multiple times and was so so sweet. They give you a tutorial on how to cut the lavender. There's lavender treats, cute petting farm and an adorable store front with a variety of lavender goodies! The owner was very kind and even let us sample some of the lavender honey. I can't speak for the Summer, because with my allergies that could be a SITUATION! I went for a wreath making workshop, which was about $60, but it was so fun! They had ALL KINDS of ... toppings? for your wreaths, and the option to make one from scratch, or pick out a plain wreath and just douse it in merriment! Go big or go home, I picked the largest wire wreath form and GOT TO WORK! It was a little intimidating bc my friend chose a pre- made, so my progress was much slower than hers and I got worried mine wouldn't look good. Plot twist, it was so cute when I was done! There were all kinds of pinecone, different tree branches, juniper, holly, dried oranges, dried flowers, some little baubles for flair, a basket full of ribbons of all sort, basically everything you need for a bad ass wreath! They supplied us with a hot cocoa station, hot mulled cider and bottled water to drink. There were homemade chocolate peppermint and gluten free chocolate chip cookies, peppermint bark covered almonds, peppermint meringues, butter toffee pretzels, Reeses Trees and a pistachio chocolate candy! The mugs for our hot beverages, they also let us KEEP! it was such a fun time! I hope they do many more workshops and events like this! The owners and their daughters were so sweet! They brought in a big ol' bunny we could pet, I got a portrait of myself from one of their daughters and had a pleasant atmosphere and conversation! My partner and I wanted to have a countryside picnic date here and we had a great time. Was recommended this place by good friends of ours. The place is a little smaller than imagined, however the staff members are quite friendly and helpful. The air here is quite fragrant and relaxing (smell of lavender of course). It's worth checking out the little shop on your way out - we purchased the jam and some lotion for my MIL. The little treats are great as well: the cupcakes and lemonade. My little gripe: running out of the adult scissors and having to use the kid ones! Note: PLEASE wear sensible shoes. And you can cut the flowers in addition to the lavender stems! Had a wonderful time picking lavender with my family on Monday morning. We visited the cute bunnies that are also available for adoption a certain point in the year. We had a fun time cutting lavender stems of different varieties. Your entry included 20 stems, additional are a small extra charge and same with the wild flowers on the outskirts. It was such a hot day out but the lavender lemonade and lavender ice cream was the perfect post picking snack. On Mondays for a few hours dogs are allowed so it was so fun to see all the fur babies getting their photos shoots with their pawrents. I enjoy spending my free time in the outdoors, so when I found this lavender farm I had to check it out. When you arrive, signs will direct you to the parking area. Before you leave your car, apply plenty of sunscreen and wear a hat to stay cool. We walked to the welcome tent and pay a $7 entry fee per person. This includes 20 stems of French lavender. I walked about 100 yards to the lavender bushes where an employee will show you how to properly harvest lavender. After the tutorial, you're handed a basket and a pair of scissors. You're now free to harvest! If you are allergic to bees, you need to be careful because they're everywhere. After about 30 minutes, it's time to re-hydrate. You can purchase refreshing lemonade and lavender cupcakes from a stand by the field. On my way out, I had to check-out the gift shop. There's over 100 products from candles, soaps, bug repellent and more all made from lavender on the farm. Note: Go to the farm in early June for lavender picking. I went in July and some of the flowers were dried out because of the excessive heat and it was the end of the season. Kid Friendly: There's fun for the whole family! My wife and I had a spectacular time here! It may be small, but this farm makes for a great short and unique outing. The staff are kind and helpful. After a quick tutorial, you get to pick a basket and scissors and then get to picking your lavender! Included in admission are 20 sprigs of lavender (purple or white), and you can add wildflowers or daisies and other plants to your bouquet for .15-.50 cents per sprig. It was hot, but we had a great time admiring the plants and picking our stems. We each picked very cute flowers, and walked away with two bouquets, costing only an additional $2 for the extra flowers we picked. There are port-a-potties as facilities, which my wife said were the cleanest she had ever seen. Cute bunnies live on the path to the field, and there's a small store to shop for other lavender products. There are plenty of toys for kids, as well as a sandbox and play house. They also offer lavender lemonade and cupcakes for sale, but we didn't try any this time. Bees love lavender, which is great! They're harmless bumblebees and it's great to see them thriving. This is a small lavender farm, not as big as some of the ones in Maryland but they are so nice and they always have people around to assist if you have questions. As I currently admire my now, beautifully dried, hand-picked lavender bunches, I feel appreciative of my experiences here last month. First things first, I purchased tickets for my party online and upon our arrival, the parking lot was an immediate right after turning into the farm. From there, it was a straight walk towards the gift shop to the check-in tent. Once checked-in, it was another short walk to the lavender fields in which the team helped us get started with a brief run-down and time to choose baskets and scissors to borrow. The team was especially patient, informative, and welcoming during my second visit and I noticed it was also easier to take photos as there was less of a congested crowd on a weekday. After spending some self-paced time picking lavender, we took a break to order some fresh lavender lemonade and lemon lavender cupcakes at the tents. We enjoyed them on the picnic benches and while the lavender flavor was quite light, the cupcakes were super moist and homemade-tasting. We ended our visit at the gift shop, which had some darling gems! For instance, I bought some nifty booklets explaining the health benefits of growing herbs at home as well as some earl grey lavender loose tea satchets. The grandma in me was cheering! It is clear the team works hard daily to maintain and provide an outdoor environment that is beautiful, safe, and relaxing. I came here during lavender picking season and it was such a fun experience. The lavender smelled amazing and the dried lavender fills my room with a lovely scent. A small but cute lavender farm about an hour outside of DC. We stopped by the farm about 10 am and there weren't too many other people there. You pay $7 for your entrance fee, and you get to pick 20 stems of lavender. You can pick additional lavender for 15 cents a stem, and they also had other flowers you could pick for 50 cents a stem. The staff was super friendly and will give you a rundown on how to pick your lavender. They have baskets and scissors to use while you get your stems. The farm itself isn't that big, it definitely looks bigger in the pictures, so you might want to plan to do other things in the area too. We spent about 40 minutes at the farm. I went after lavender season, but had been meaning to go all summer. I wanted to cut some sunflowers and wildflowers , which were unfortunately affected by some high winds the week before we went. The drive is peaceful, the lavender shop is beautiful and full of treasures, and we still had a fun time cutting flowers. I recommended making time to stop, definitely during the flowers premiere seasons. The flowers are expensive to cut but last longer than the store. I do think they should reduce the price when they aren't looking that good, like because of high winds or drought. read more

Throw the image of skipping through the rows and rows of purple lavender fields instantly out of your head. Lavender fields were small and it only took me 10 mins to take photos and clip the lavender. Since my friend bought a living social deal, we could only clip 50 lavender stalks (25 each). I understand the limit because there aren't a lot of lavender bushes and there's got to be some left over for future visitors! I saw the tent with coolers for lavender lemonade and iced tea and was excited at first, because I assumed the drinks were complimentary. They aren't. $2.50 for a 10 oz cup, which let the wind out of my sails a bit. They accept credit cards (they have a iPhone square credit card reader). They also sell shortbread cookies for $1 each. I loved the lavender shop. I regret not taking photos inside the shop but I was consumed by taking in all the products and filling my shopping basket! I bought granola, lotion, sachets, teas, honey, a potted lavender plant, pancake mix, a cupcake, 6 pack of shortbread cookies.. Which added up to $75!!! Yikes!! I wish it wasn't so expensive. And there were plenty more products I didn't buy.. Linen sprays, soaps, oils, and more. This shop is dangerous for those who love gourmet and homemade products. Meh. I wasn't super impressed. I went there today around 2pm with my niece to pick some lavender. The field wasn't that big and idk I guess with the name Lavender Farm, I pictured a huge field filled with lavender, which it was not. I think this was their opening weekend so I don't want to completely write them off but I would maybe wait to go again. The lavender didn't even seem in full bloom and it just seemed pretty scarce. They were also out of their lemonade and cupcakes which my niece was looking forward to so that was a bummer. The pros about this place is that the tickets were super cheap($4) and the staff were friendly. They also had a bunny pin with cute little rabbits that the kiddos could feed. I would recommend visiting the farm later on in the season and maybe going a bit earlier in the day before the treats/drinks run out. read more

Had a grand old time venturing out to Farmville, USA to visit Seven Oaks Lavender Farm with a friend who had a LivingSocial deal. It's out past Gainesville, for those of you wondering just how far you'll have to trek, but the drive is very pleasant, with lots of roaming hills, sprawling farmland, and cute cow pastures to look at. The Lavender Farm itself is smaller than I imagined it would be, with only a small plot of land where the lavender actually grows. You walk up past the shop/check-in area, and are given a short introduction to the 4 kinds of lavender that they grow. They, you grab hold of a basket and a pair of scissors and go to town! Now, here is a warning for the bug-averse (ehhhm, like me). There are bees. EVERYWHERE. So, if you have an allergy, I suggest you bring that epi pen, lest you plan on making like Macaulay Culkin in My Girl (spoiler alert, though I admit I won't really feel that bad for spoiling since the movie came out in 1991), where he got stung by hornets and died. Anyway, where were we? Oh yes, bees. Everywhere. Suckin' on lavender and having a good time. They pretty much ignored us, but some of them were still big enough to warrant a squeal. What, you're surprised? I'm a total pansy, you should already know this (just read my review of the Silver Eagle Group gun range if you need more proof). ANYWAY. I think this is a really fun activity for you to take mom, or grandma, or your daughters, or granddaughters out to do. They have a little fenced area where there are some bunnies roaming around that you can go in and pet, and they have lavender-lemon cupcakes, lavender tea, and lavender lemonade available to purchase as well. The shop carries a crapton of lavender items as well: lip balms, satchets, room sprays, dog collar tags, tea, shortbread cookies, lavender granola... the list goes on! Really, the only negative is that the overall size being rather diminutive means that there's not really a whole lot to do. You arrive, you ooh, you ahh, you cut some stems of lavender, you take a few pictures... I think we managed to kill maybe a little over half an hour, which is only half as long as it took to drive there, hahaha. read more

Still three stars, but I wanted to give an update on my last review. After two years, I decided I wanted more lavender in my life. The layout is now different. They have expanded their lavender crop and it seems they are closer to an acre of picking. They offer both English and French varieties, although the English had already been harvested by the third week of June. Go early June if you want English lavender, which they told me is more fragrant. I got my 50 stems of French (another Living Social deal) and I was happy with it. Bees are still there, they just love this stuff! But ribbons for tying are no longer offered. You now just get a rubber band. Sad. Cupcakes weren't offered either, but they still had lavender lemonade and mint tea. At $2.50 a cup, kind of expensive. Store can still get crowded because you have to pay for your stems there. I'm sure it's a marketing ploy to get you into the store, because you could easily pay at the field. I checked out their lotions and sachets, cute stuff but again somewhat pricey. I must issue a WARNING for their Bug Off natural bug repellent-- my son developed hives after using it! Mayo Clinic said combining lavender oil and tea tree oil can sometimes cause a rash, and that's just what happened to him. Use cautiously if you buy. read more

What a pleasant experience! Purchased a Living Social deal of $18 for afternoon tea and a Lavender fragrance crafting session -- a great deal in my opinion! Went with a friend, but ended up having a lovely tea party (complete with lavender-infused tea foods) with several other friendly strangers too. I loved how personal everything was -- we were ushered into Deb's house (the daughter of Seven Oaks Lavender shop) for the tea party and ate her delicious baked goods, then proceeded to the mother's home up the hill in order to craft our own lavender scent. The owners are extremely knowledgeable about lavender growing and different uses for it. I ended up spending about an hour at their lavender gift shop afterwards purchasing eye satchels filled with lavender, natural bug repellent, and various goods. It's a really lovely mom & pop shop, and I am so glad I got to experience it! Would love to go again but maybe during lavender season when the frost covers aren't hiding those blooms away. read more

I feel like I have to set some things straight with the negative reviews listed below. First of all, I also purchased a living social deal and went there to use it, it states the lavender season ends at the beginning of July, I (as well as the negative reviewers) went in the beginning of July just after the season had ended) . When I arrived, I went to the shop where they informed me that because the winter was so very harsh it killed most of their large plants and therefore there was not much to pick and were offering some various other flowers and wildflower blooms to substitute. Maybe this wasn't explained to the others when they went but if they would have called ahead I'm sure someone would have explained it to them. They also told me their fall harvest would be much better and I can't wait to go back and check it out! Here are some great things about the farm that people forgot to mention: The staff is so pleasant and welcoming, everyone met me with beaming smiles and were so helpful! The little lavender shop they have is filled with beautifully aromatic lavender products! I purchased some hand lotion, soap, a cuppo mason jar lid and some other little trinkets. They have a pen full of baby bunnies! There is a sign that asks you don't pick them up but says you can pick some clover to feed and pet them, this was one of my favorite parts!! They were so adorable! Also, there is a little farm cat that was hopping around playing with the bunnies! There is a lovely little tent with seating where they sell lavender sweet tea and lavender lemonade, both were extraordinary! They also have the option of purchasing a mason jar with your pick to go and free water for those super hot days! The lavender farm is surrounded by other farms which makes it a beautiful bucolic setting including a few old farm houses that are just brimming with history! I know some people were disappointed in the lavender yield but I am totally excited to go back and gather some fall blooms and pick up some more lavender tea and snuggle some bunnies! read more

I decided to take the drive out here from DC to make a lavender wreath for the holidays. This is a small, family run farm. They have a ton of chickens and they sell farm fresh eggs here too. The woman who runs the farm lives in one house, then there is a small lavender gift shop, and at the top of a small hill is her parent's house where the lavender is. The owner and her helpers are very friendly and were happy to set me up with wreath making. They cut some fresh lavender, and provided mini-ornaments, ribbon, and the grapevine wreath base to use for my wreath. It was super easy and everyone's wreath looks really beautiful. The gift shop has many lavender products; candles, soap, lotions, sachets, teas and a few other things. This is a really fun little get away from the city, with friendly people who are eager to share their love of the farm and lavender. I love my new wreath and it smells amazing! read more

I would advise NOT going off season. My friend and I responded to an advertised tea around Valentine's Day. it was quite disappointing. The website features promises of lavender scones, cupcakes, cookies, etc. Packaged mixes for some of these items are on sale in the gift shop, but none of those items were served at the tea. The explanation given was that those items are served in the summer only. The food, served buffet style, consisted of cookies and crackers and cucumber sandwiches and a strawberry cake with no frosting...oh yes, there were some grapes.
