Ordered flowers from 1800flowers and they used this florist for the arrangement. The arrangement was nice but the delivery driver was the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. The delivery was scheduled and the home was occupied but the delivery driver left after no one answered the door. Normally this would be OK but if the driver would have dialed the number on the card, they would have answered the door. The rescheduled delivery was essentially leaving the flower arrangement on the doorstep after ringing the doorbell. There is a reason why a phone number is provided and nowadays a lot of people are cautious about opening their door to strangers. read more

Nice little local florist located right in Haymarket. I ordered some flowers for Valentine's Day - I called in the order a couple of days ahead of time - to be ready for the Saturday before Valentine's Day. Picked up the flowers in the early afternoon. The arrangement was all ready and the flowers were in gorgeous condition. I even got the ladies there to find me a box to keep the vase somewhat stabilized during transport in the car. And I met the "Melanie" of Melanie's Florist. Very nice lady! They were very busy and I thought a little tired (I'm guessing they had been putting in a lot of long hours for the holiday) and still had a smile on their faces! Highly recommended! read more

When my grandfather passed, my sisters and I thought we would send my parents some flowers. We ordered The FTD® Cottage Garden™ Bouquet by Better Homes and Gardens® . There are a lot of TM and ® in there yeah I know. So the note that we wanted to send had a Korean word in there for grandfather. After we ordered, we got a note back from the florist saying that it came out garbled. It should have looked like: , but came out as: í* ,ì*",ë²",지, So, we talked about it, and then the wonderful person that works at Melanie's said she would try to write it out IN KOREAN! I live out of state and wanted to send my mom a sympathy plant from a local business. I ordered the Serene Retreat to be delivered on a Friday - it's a medley of green plants in a large pot. Without any communication to me, they delivered an orchid instead. I called to address the situation and I was told the owner "upgraded" my order rather than letting me know they didn't have my order in stock. I let them know I wanted my original order to be delivered to my mom and they said they could deliver it Monday. I agreed. Today, I get a call from the delivery driver letting me know she wants to make sure my mom is home for the "exchange". No one ever told me they're taking the flowers from my mom, who is mourning a loss, by the way. I had to get upset with the driver to confirm there is no exchange to be had the original order needed to be delivered. NOT WORTH THE HEADACHE. Order from somewhere else. read more

Melanie made the most amazing spray for my dad's casket on short notice because it was late morning on a Saturday and I couldn't get in touch with any of the florists local to the funeral home. It was really impressed, it's was so beautiful on his casket and my mother and family loved it! They were exactly what my mother wanted. As it turned out, he also ended up with 2 sprays on stands that did come from the local florist and I was so glad I didn't use them. They were probably the worst I've ever seen at a funeral and were dying by the Monday burial. I highly recommend Melanie's Florist. read more

It's too bad the owner of this small business in our town has such a lack of respect for individuals that walk into this place. Melanie (the owner) was absolutely rude to a kind gentleman who walked in to her establishment at the same time I happened to be there. I went in hoping to talk to her about some arrangements and I instantly felt unwelcome and frankly walked out within minutes. As a long time resident of Haymarket I always try and support local small business but I will never patronize this establishment. BE KIND! This town is too small. read more

Just received a delivery from Melanie's Florist sent to my wife on her 70 th birthday from my daughter. The arrangement was terrible and surely not worth $ 100.00. My daughter lives in upstate New York and if she lived near us flowers at a supermarket would have been a better choice far less expensive. Delivery person offered they would send a new arrangement but I refused because flowers were nowhere and not fresh. I received a gorgeous, fresh, cheerful arrangement from an out of town friend. Though I have lived in Haymarket for ten years I had not heard of Melanie's Florist; the flowers are so beautifully arranged and carefully chosen that the next time I place an order for flowers I will call Melanie's. Also, the woman who delivered the flowers was lovely. It took me a an extra minute to get to the door because I was mid-workout when the bell rang. She was understanding and friendly. I received an arrangement today from this florist which is rather ugly. Blue and white hydrangeas, orange and red tipped roses, some maroon type tubular flower and a tall pink flox like flower. They are bunched in together as though they tried to stuff as much as they could I to the vase! I am hesitant to send reviews that criticize but feel like folks need to know of my experience. Ordered flowers for my wife through 1-800-Flowers to be delivered the Friday after Thanksgiving to thank here for all she would be doing today. But while the whole family was out on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving the decided they would deliver the flowers. That's not what I ordered. Add to this when my wife got home and called them she got nothing but bad attitude from them. Saying they were closed on Friday and that they had not one there to redeliver the flowers. Why did they take the order if they knew they were closed on Friday?????? I'll tell you why or at least according to their story, they called and "someone" know body not even them had a name of who, said it was ok to deliver the flowers two days early. So the flowers that I was sending to say thanks to my wife ended up pissing here off. Thanks a bunch Melanie's. I'm not done either .............. I will NOT use this florist again! I ordered flowers to be delivered on Saturday to a friend who had just lost her father and they claimed they went to the house on Saturday to deliver them and found no one at the house. This was after I called and Saturday to confirm they delivered and they said yes that it was delivered. I spoke to my friend and she never mentioned anything about the flowers but was sad that i didn't make it. I told her I sent flowers with a note as to why I couldn't come. She said she never received anything. I called to find out if the flowers were delivered and the ladies on the phone whom were so short with me put the Owner, Melanie on the phone. Melanie said that they hadn't heard back from anyone from the house yet so they weren't going to take them until they heard back. BUT they sure did charge my card. On June 20, 2019, I ordered a very nice arrangement of flowers to surprise my wife in celebration of our Golden Wedding Anniversary, which was June 21, 2019. At the time of the order I had every intention of being home to receive the delivery in case my wife happened to go out. Instead, after the order was in, my wife decided she would like to go out to a very late breakfast. At about 9:15, on the morning of the 21st, I called Melanie's and told her what my problem was. She said her delivery person was out and depending on traffic, she would try and have the flowers delivered by 11:00. I had to go to the Post Office and was there at about 10:00 when my wife told me by phone that the flowers had just been delivered. The flower arrangement is perfect. The service is perfect. I received 18 long stem red roses from my husband for our anniversary. They were absolutely PERFECT!!!!! I have received roses many times and these by far were the best. Each bloom was perfect, no burnt tips and the buds were just starting to open. I have lived in Haymarket for many years and never knew of this business. I don't know if Melanie does the deliveries herself or has someone else do. Anyways I had flower "delivered" to me when I wasn't home but my kids were and they don't like to open the door when no one is around. They said that this lady rang the doorbell and sat in her van in-front if the house for the greater part of 20 minutes (scarring my kids) since no one was answering the door. At this point my kids never said that someone was parked outside and I hadn't received any calls. Then my phone rings and the lady says she's rang my doorbell and the flowers will die if I don't answer the door. I tell her that she can leave them on the front porch and that'll be back from the store in less than 10 minutes. She insists on going over to my neighbors to ask if they can hold them......I literally told her it's okay to leave them on my porch now you're going to go bother my neighbors???? I've never written a review before but this is one of those times it needs to be said. Valentine's Day. My fiancé arranged to have an arrangement sent to me on Friday the 12th - to beat the rush and enjoy the flowers over the weekend. Friday, we came home from work - no flowers. Saturday we were out and they tried to deliver. Since there was no one home, they left a note saying to call them for another delivery. (I have never, ever not had a florist leave the flowers on the porch when someone wasn't home.) It was after hours so, of course, they were closed. Called again Monday morning and never received a call back. On Wed, my fiancé called again. They answered and apologized for not returning the call. Someone at the shop said they had just gotten a new batch of roses and would send out the arrangement immediately. Wed afternoon - delivery received. However, it was clear that new roses were not used as the roses were all fully opened and the green was starting to turn. (I assume it was the original arrangement that sat in their cooler since Friday) Today - Friday the 19th - almost all the roses are in various levels of dead or dying. Extremely disappointed in Melanie's and the way this was all handled. We will never use them again - nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. read more
