Our stay at seven stars ranch was wonderful! The hosts are warm and friendly, the ranch is a slice of heaven. It was an amazing experience to wake up to green hills and forests surrounding us, with alpacas grazing in the sunshine. The vintage cottage brought us back to a simpler life: though small, it had every amenity we could possibly need. The kitchen was fully stocked, the bathroom had many soft fluffy towels, there was more pillows and blankets than we could need. This is a great place for families with small kids, if you want privacy and quiet away from the bustling town. The hosts go above and beyond for their guests! We will definitely come back. read more

What a great experience! We visited Seven Stars Ranch while on a two week vacation in Coeur d'Alene. This was my 3 year old daughter's most memorable experience. She keeps talking about the "talking" alpacas (they hum) and getting to pet mini horses and donkeys. The ranch is beautiful and so well kept. We also discovered that they have an Airbnb on site and a few trailer/RV spots with water and electricity hook ups. Although there is no drainage for septic, we were told that the nearest gas station does have a dump station for super cheap. They are also set up for events. In my opinion it would be a beautiful spot for a rustic wedding We were guided through the ranch by one of the sons of the owners, who was very kind and gave us a brief family history and how the farm started. Then we helped release the Alpacas, a lama and some sheep out to pasture. Then we were allowed to explore the farm and visit with all the animals. I highly recommend this tour for all ages, even my husband and our teenage nephew had a blast. And don't forget to visit their adorable little gift shop that has beautiful alpa wool souvenirs. read more

Such a fun experience here! One of the highlights of our time in CDA. The owner, Sonia, wasn't available at the time of our tour, but her son filled in and was very welcoming. He gave us a nice tour around their ranch and it was super well maintained and organized. They have a huge variety of animals that you can see, such as rabbits, alpacas, mini horses, and goats. They provided some apple slices that were were able to feed the animals with. We were able to watch the alpacas move from one side of the ranch to the pastures where they were able to roam freely and graze. After that, we were able to continue to interact with the animals on our own and never felt rushed. They also have a gift shop where you can buy souvenirs made from alpaca wool. I came here at 11am for the guided tour with Sonia who I was able to learn a little about before the start. She moved here from Alaska to be ranchers but didn't have any experience but did it anyway. Don't be misguided though because she is very knowledgeable about the animals and is very serious about both the care and treatment of them. When I called I was recommended to do 11am because that's when Sonia moves the alpacas from one part of the ranch to another. Before that happened we all took some pictures with the alpacas and I also helped open and close the gates when they moved to the larger pasture. Along with alpacas there are donkeys, sheep, and some horses as well. You'll have fun walking around and wandering whether you're here by yourself or with a group. This was a nice relaxing way to spend 1.5-2 hours for just $10. I would recommend calling to make an appointment ahead of time. There is also a small souvenir shop that you can buy stuff from the material of the alpacas after they're sheared. What a wonderful way to get up close and personal with some beautiful farm animals that so many of us "city folk" don't get to see that often. We just had a wonderful afternoon at SEVEN STARS ALPACA RANCH. Donkeys, ponies, llamas, alpacas, goats, a beautiful Shepherd named Roxie and a truly amazing ranch this family has put together....it's really something to see!! We live in Coeur d'Alene and this ranch is pretty close to us but it's taken us 5 years to make it up to Seven Stars...a 20 minute drive. OUR LOSS. My wife and I will be making this little trip many times in the future. It's such a pleasure to see what this family has created. A unique, interactive, and educational way to while away a couple of hours. Owner Sonia has her tour routine down pat (almost too much so), from the initial welcome and introduction to the ranch, to meeting the animals up close and personal, to the final stop at the on-site gift shop. Throughout the tour, you'll see a variety of farm animals, but of course the awkwardly adorable alpacas are the main attraction. Sonia will let you know which ones are friendly and approachable and which ones are not! Tour space and times are limited, so be sure to book in advance. This ranch is beautifully kept and organized. The owner makes it clear on her website that the ranch is not a petting zoo- animals are roaming freely inside paddocks. Everything is amazingly clean and organized, right down to the scooper tools and leashes/halters that are hung up for each animal. The owner makes sure to impress upon folks to be "good stewards of the land and animals" and shares wonderful information about her journey with her animals. This place is a MUST if you're ever in Coeur d'Alene! I was in Spokane for a work trip and decided to visit Seven Stars Ranch on my day off. I called a few days ahead and made an appointment to ensure that they had space for me. Upon arrival at Seven Stars Ranch, we were given a brief educational presentation about alpacas and llamas and the backstory of the ranch. Sonia and Andy, who are the owners of the ranch, were incredibly informative and well versed in all things alpacas and llamas. You could tell that they were very passionate about the work that they do and the animals that they care for. After the presentation, we were given a tour of the very well maintained ranch. We saw so many animals including alpacas, llamas, sheep, goats, chicken, donkeys and horses. The tour was paced very nicely and we had ample time to ask Sonia and Andy questions, interact with the animals, and get our pictures in. The tour ended at the gift shop, which sold alpaca wool items that are processed at a local mill. This ranch is such a wonderful gem and I had a blast! Highly recommend. read more

We arrived a little early (no need for that because this is a working ranch and she has plenty to do before the tour), but she will start right on time! This was the COOLEST experience of our trip! My new hubby and I met up with my brother and sister-in-law for a little Thanksgiving adventure at this farm and it was an amazing experience. It is great for social distancing as well, they were supper careful and let us do our own tour. We brought carrots and apples and were able to go around the farm and feed the animals. Our favorite was a small goat named Jolly Rancher but we also saw donkeys, chicken, alpacas, turkeys, and llammas. There was also the friendliest cat named Tiger that followed us around. One of the highlights of my trip to Coeur d'Alene! Everything is beautiful here. The scenery, the animals, the people, everything! Our original plans didn't work out and we saw this online and thought it would be cool. We called to make an appointment and when nobody answered, we didn't think to leave a voice message. Regardless we decided to head up as it was only 6 miles away. We were greeted with a wave but when we proceeded up, we were told that because we didn't make an appointment we couldn't be helped which was shocking but also realistic. Sonia then changed her mind and said she would give us a tour. As we waited for her to get ready we hung out front, played with her cats, dogs, and enjoyed the beautiful landscape. She then came out, lead us inside and gave us a crash course in alpacas. After that, we headed out to the vehicle and took and long, slow, informative tour of the ranch. We met and got to pet the donkeys, saw chickens, birds, sheep, a goat, toured the wilderness a bit, and finally got to meet the alpacas. You can really tell that Sonia and her husband have an amazing outlook on life and really care for their animals. She knew all of their names, over 77 animals! They all came up to her and us as they were unafraid and in general, just the look in her eyes and the way she spoke made us feel right at home. Please go up and visit them and their lovely ranch. It was truly a great experience and even if you don't enjoy beautiful landscapes and cute animals, you will meet some great people. read more

I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE. I know one of the owners (Sonia) isn't a huge fan of Yelp, but as a Yelp Elite, I feel the need to put this place on the radar for folks looking for something fun and informational to do while in Coeur d'Alene. As an animal lover, this seemed like the perfect place to visit. It's not just an Alpaca Ranch; they have dogs, cats, chickens, sheep, mini horses, mini donkeys, horses, and llamas. And if you book a tour, YES, you get to pet and take pictures with ALL of them. (Except you can't hug an alpaca; they don't like it!) I wasn't expecting much when my boyfriend and I arrived, but we were led to a room with some other tour folks, and were seated to enjoy refreshments while we listened to Sonia speak about the history of the ranch, the family, and alpacas. It was actually very helpful and educational, especially to anyone interested in owning a farm in their retirement or otherwise. The ranch itself is absolutely gorgeous. It was extremely well kept and maintained, and guys, the animals seem GENUINELY HAPPY. A friendly cat named Tiger followed us throughout the tour, as did the family dogs. The animals were all so comfortable with Sonia and were super friendly with all of us. It was so amazing to be able to hug, pet, and talk to these animals. There is also a super cute gift shop that is cash only. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Coeur d'Alene, or anyone who is thinking about retiring and owning a ranch. They have several rv sites as well as a cottage that is two bedroom for rent on Air B&B. it is a wonderful experience learning about these amazing animals, and you can tell how well loved they all are. One of the highlights of our trip to Idaho. This place is an OASIS!!!! A charming ranch on a beautiful mountainside, I've never been to a ranch or farm this clean and beautiful. The kids and adults in our group all loved it so much. We talked with the lady beforehand and she encouraged us to bring apple slices and carrots to feed/interact with the animals, it really made the experience so much more personal. The animals were so so fun. Alpacas! Llamas! Miniature Horses! Goats! Donkeys (I didn't realize how pretty they would be)! Chickens! Rabbits! Horses! We probably spent about 2 hours there, it was relaxing and fun at the same time. MUST VISIT! Per the website's instructions, we called (last minute on the day of by the way, shortly before 11:00am, but we were kindly accommodated) to make a reservation. YOU MUST CALL OR TEXT TO MAKE A RESERVATION. We immediately got a response back that there was room for us to join the 11:00am tour. FILL UP ON GAS before going because there is nothing else out there besides gravel rounds and homes!! When we arrived to the ranch, there were plenty of signs guiding us on where to park (in the very far back next to the house). We parked and made a quick trip to the port-a-potty before heading back to the house's garage. We were given a short and beautiful history of how the couple who owns the ranch came to own it. We were also given a safety talk. Then, as a group, we toured the ranch. We met with some sheep, goats (baby goats, too!), and alpacas as a group. You are not allowed to touch the alpacas but you can touch any other animal on the farm! We got a ton of photos with the alpacas before we led them out into the pasture. At the end of the tour, you're allowed to spend as long as you like on the farm. You can go inside the enclosures and pet the animals. You can visit the beautiful gift shop (they take card and cash!). There are multiple photo opportunity places - a wagon, the barn, etc. EVERYTHING is so so clean and organized!!! You won't accidentally step into any poop. The owners care so lovingly for the animals and treat them with respect. They expect the same from visitors. You have unlimited time to explore and when you're done, you head back to the house to pay for the tour ($10 per adult) and anything you pick up from the gift shop (hats, blankets, alpaca stuffed animals). See their website for more information, but we highly recommend going! Kids are welcome, too! There is also an Airbnb on sight for those interested in making their trip last longer! Just to answer some questions visitors might have: there are no food or vending machines; you can spend as long as you like here but we spent about two hours; fill up on gas before making the journey; there is a port-a-potty that was clean; the gift shop is a little pricey (makes sense since the items are made from real alpaca fur) so bring cash or card; it's not really wheelchair accessible just because it's a walking tour over the grass/gravel and inside the enclosures; bring comfortable shoes and sunscreen; you cannot feed the animals; you can touch all of the animals except the alpacas. read more

We just got home from a 12 day road trip through Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. We went to Seven Stars Ranch to see the Alpacas. What a fantastic experience!! It is owned by Andy and Sonia that moved from Alaska to run the ranch and save animals. Most of their animals are rescues. (Which I love!) We got to see and pet several horses, goats, mini horses, donkeys, a beautiful chicken AND Alpacas!!! It was so amazing and educational!! The tour of their ranch was done very well. We were in a small group of only 5 people which added to the charm! We were able to ask questions and take our time petting the animals. We got to hold a baby goat named "Jolly Rancher"! Where do we start.... You can either simply take the tour or actually stay in one of the overnight options. The hosts: the most amazing, kind and generous couple who welcome you into their home as if you're family The main house: beyond gorgeous and so well appointed, clean...there is a lovely library area where you can sit and read quietly, a huge kitchen, formal dining room, the bedrooms are upstairs and we actually stayed in 2 of the rooms...the master bedroom had a fireplace with a huge bathroom and private balcony overlooking the outdoor hot tub...yes I said hot tub! We didn't use it but plan to return :) The second bedroom also has a large bathroom and private balcony overlooking the main side of the Ranch so plan to wake each morning and open your balcony doors to see the Alpacas! 2 bedroom cabin: we did not stay here but it's located just down the driveway from the main house and more secluded with sweeping views of the pastures and well equipped for cooking. Every night you can see the deer and elk nearly come to your window. The Ranch: Alpaca, llama, wild turkeys, cats, dogs, chickens, chicks, goats, sheep, cattle, large and mini horses, donkeys, some of which are pregnant so babies coming soon! Sonia gives tours daily to the public and you can learn so much. She allows you to get up close to all the animals and truly experience a Ranch life. The animals are so friendly and come right up to you. I can't say enough, I could write all day! We will never forget this place and plan to return annually. I'm actually considering coming back in the fall. Our original plan on this road trip was the see Coeur D Alene for the night and leave. We spent a few hours in town and the rest on the Ranch. There was a large fire pit we sat around to chat and admire the wildlife. I almost forgot the fresh eggs every morning. I personally went into the coop and retrieved our eggs...a first for this city girl. Just down the street is Blue Creek Bay (off Lake Coeur D Alene) where you can fish, swim or take your water crafts or maybe just have a picnic. This was our second time at seven stars and when we go back on the fall, it will be our third! This is, in my opinion, a "must go" when in Coeur D'alene. First off, it's not a petting zoo, it's a working ranch but you can and should pet the animals (alpacas, mini horses, goats and mini donkeys). If you're familiar with ranches and farm life, going here is like visiting nirvana, it's everything a ranch should be and you will leave inspired. If you're not familiar with those things, you will leave educated and inspired. Sonia and her family are kind, thorough and hospitable. They also adhere to all Covid related protocols and expect you to do the same. So that was a relief for me since a lot places were way too relaxed on their protocols. I hate to say it again, but the story of this ranch is also inspiring, you will leave with wonderful pictures, memories and a joy in your heart. Way better than the lake. read more
