Today, my husband and I took our family and visiting family friends to Sunday breakfast, all 10 of us. The staff was not phased at the size of our party. The restaurant was very busy with a steady flow of the post church crowd, locals and tourists. The staff was quick to get to us, which required some magic and although we had to wait a bit, we were kept posted how long. We were seated, greeted and had coffee and drinks in front of us with minutes. Sarah, our server, was on it. She catered to our three kids with crayons, activity sheets and fun super hero masks. Our order was placed and in front of us within 10 minutes. The food was delicious, with large portions and very nicely presented. Our coffee cups/water were checked and filled when needed. We were never rushed to empty our seats and fully enjoyed our time. This, as always, was the best experience with a lovely crew and great food. When we were leaving and exiting through the doors, a man that was apparently annoyed we weren't leaving soon enough and told staff they should force us to leave, became very loud and agitated with the staff and slammed the door in the managers face. We were a little concerned for our group as he was picking an argument and we had small children. I was very impressed that the manager Michael, promptly came to deal with the situation, told the individual he could leave with his group and he would not be served due to his disruptive and threatening demeanor. He was told he was trespassed from the business. It was handled professionally in every way by management. I personally went back and spoke with the manager after the individual walked to his car, who continued to yell threats of bad reviews and obscenities, to tell him that we felt he handled the situation with professionalism and assured him we would continue to frequent Elmers and recommend them without hesitation. Breakfast as we drive home from Canada. I got the hungry rancher breakfast and she got the Denver & Tillamook omelette. The biscuits and hash browns are excellent. The sausage, bacon and omelette are very good. The scrambled eggs were fine and the ham was surprisingly flavorless. Our server, Rhonda, was wonderful. All in all a good breakfast. read more

When in Coeur d'Alene, do yourself a favor and get yourself a German pancake at Elmer"s! It's such a rare find and such a delicacy. I had the combo with eggs and bacon, plus the strawberry topping on the pancake - this was wonderfully delicious! On this Sunday morning there were quite a few people waiting for a table but the crowd moved quickly and it didnt take too long. Oregon Coast chain resto, and the only one in our area. They are a step above a regular diner experience, foodwise, and have a nice dining area, with big booths for gorillas like (moi). Booths are spaced nicely in an 80s style of way. Their take on a Club was great, and the other half will be my lunch on Monday. Here's the deal... I don't eat pink-flesh fish, but the Wifey loves it. I suggested the salmon, and she took a big chance going for it. Didn't hear much from her, as she was eating, but I got the gist. They hit the right notes for that Iowa gal. We really like this Elmer's restaurant. I wouldn't say it's one of our favorite restaurants, we don't go here very often. However every time we have Ben, we've had a really pleasant experience. First of all, the staff is always friendly and helpful. The servers are always very attentive. The managers even come by on occasion just to make sure that everything's okay. The prices are reasonable, they have a good kids menu and a good seniors menu. It's very casual and exactly what you would expect for the atmosphere at an Elmer's restaurant. The food is also usually pretty good, if not a little unimaginative or unoriginal. But this is a standard breakfast / lunch / dinner diner and you're going to get exactly what you expect at this location. It is a little awkward to get to off of appleway. But we've never had any issues here, and for an Elmer's this place gets five stars. read more

Come for the food, but stay for the hospitality! We went on Mother's Day this past weekend and expected a crazy wait. To our surprise, we were seated almost immediately after my wife was given a rose! There's something about wood in restaurants and homes that just makes me feel so warm. You just can't beat this type of ambiance, and this Elmer's has a lot of unpainted wood! On to the food! My wife had the German pancake with fruits on it, her aunt had the Oregon trail steak, and I had a Reuben. The German pancake was unlike anything we've ever tasted. It was light like a crepe, but held its own shape like a traditional pancake. The fruits added a wonderful freshness to the plate. The steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned appropriately. Not much to say other than it was a good steak for the price! The Reuben was tasty. My only criticism throughout our entire experience at Elmer's was that I wish there was more thousand island on that sandwich. Now, I don't normally write reviews, but I found it incredibly important to draft one up for this restaurant for the staff's honestly. We forgot a pair a Ray Bans at our booth when we left the restaurant, and one of their workers came running after us waaaay into the parking lot to return them. Other people would just pocket it or put it in their lost and found. Not these employees. They will literally chase you down to return your personal belongings. I took the day off for Veteran's day with my husband and we decided we wanted to enjoy a nice diner breakfast. I forgot how many other veterans there would be in CDA, however, and most of the places we'd normally get breakfast were jam packed. Then I remembered Elmer's, tucked away behind the hotel there, and I am SO glad I did. That was a perfect breakfast, and it wasn't too overwhelmed! This is also such a small thing, but I loved the music they played. It really made the place feel warm and inviting. I got the triple berry crepes with hasbrowns and an egg, and my husband got the lemon german pancake with hashbrowns and eggs. It's hard to say who had the better breakfast, they were both so wonderful! Finally, a place that can get the hashbrowns right, I could cry. They're fried instead of pan-fried, so every bite is perfectly crisp instead of the middle being soggy. The bacon was crisp, the eggs exceptionally well done, and the crepes were delicious and not too sweet. The best part of our experience though was Brec, our server. She was extremely upbeat and charming, and she listened patiently to what we wanted for breakfast and made sure to deliver exactly what we asked for. She made jokes and checked on us to make sure we had what we needed, but wasn't overbearing or pushy. She's got waiting tables down to a fine science, and Elmer's is so lucky to have her. Excellent food, service, and ambience, not to mention the beautiful original paintings by local artists they have on the walls that are actually for sale. We are traveling through and picked this place based on Yelp reviews. It did not disappoint. Everything is obviously made from scratch, which is hard to find these days. The coffee tastes very good. The German pancake is thinner than expected and tastes very good. We could only eat half of it. The sausage is mediocre. The vegetable omelet had less veggies than I'd hoped, and the zucchini chunks were fairly raw. The hash browns are excellent and chunkier than the frozen stuff. A friend who had just started his Ironman 70.3 we opted to take time and go grab breakfast at a local restaurant. This is a true diner in my opinion that focuses on the quality of the food and the portion sizes matches the price of the meal. We walked in and had to wait, but seeing how many people were dining in led you to believe this had to be a good restaurant. Staff was attentive, friendly and courteous. Continuously, coming by to see if we needed coffee, water or condiments. If I lived close by, this would be a local diner that I would dine in multiple times a week! Big fan. read more

People chow in the best way! This is a great place after playing in the snow on Cherry Hill and being cold n wet but hungry and wide awake you can get anything you want at whatever time. And it's a lot of food. But we like breakfast for dinner cuz it's awesome and satisfies hunger the best after a lot of calorie burn. Nice, big place to go at any time when other breakfast places are closed, or you don't wanna cook after all that sledding. Good place to take big groups so when family comes in and they like people chow, we take them here, especially later in the day cuz family coming in usually stay at the nearby hotels. Elmer's holds a special place in my heart. Billings used to have 2 of them and now we have zero. I think I come here for nostalgia, really. The menu is huge with tons of options. Sometimes it can feel overwhelming. The service is always friendly. The food is always good (think of better quality than perkins) and I always leave full. It's not your mom's home cooked breakfast but it is pretty darn good. Ps - the biscuits and gravy always sound like a good idea but let me save you from a mistake. Pillsbury biscuits and gravy that tastes like it's from a can. That's probably the only food I can complain about. Give it a try. read more

I really like Elmer's for breakfast options. My husband, on the other hand, doesn't care for breakfast and did not think too much of Elmer's. I've been to many Elmer's but this one is close to my parents and they like to come in for the wide variety of selections on the menu. I've tried several items but my favorite is the German Pancake. It is simple and tasty. I don't usually get the fruit on top but that is an option. I just like it with lemon and powdered sugar. I may add an egg on the side too. This location is one of the few that doesn't take forever to cook the German Pancake so I get to enjoy my meal with everyone else a the table. read more

This is just an okay place to eat. Service was good but my fried seafood platter was greasy and not satisfying. The only thing not greasy was the fried butterfly shrimp. The Reuben sandwich my BF had was alright. He liked it. Others around us seemed to get the breakfast and it didn't look too bad. Maybe that is what they are more known for.
