Over the past ten years, I've hired many contractors for various home projects. This is the first company that has left me looking for additional projects simply because I would hire them again. When it's time to replace my roof, I won't be shopping around. Every time I pull into my driveway, I'm reminded how much they transformed my home. I deserved this. Communication was excellent from start to finish. I worked with Tom Bibeau initially. The quotation and scope of work was professional, clear, and thorough. They contacted me well in advance to schedule the project, kept me informed about the delivery of the dumpster and materials, and consistently let me know what to expect throughout the installation. One of the biggest lessons I learned during this entire process is that the installation crew matters more than the product itself. Tall Pine's crew, led by Dan, was exceptional. There were typically two to five installers on site each day. They were experienced, professional, precise, and respectful of my home. They worked as a coordinated team, cleaned up thoroughly each evening, and even made sure my dog gates were closed before leaving each day (a problem I had with a previous contractor). It genuinely felt like they treated my home as if it were their own. The foreman was organized, communicative, and highly consultative throughout the project. Whenever they uncovered something unexpected, he explained the issue, discussed the options, and walked me through how they planned to correct it along with any associated costs. One example stood out. After removing the old siding, they discovered that an enclosed porch addition had been built using pressure-treated lumber where aluminum trim would be installed. Because pressure-treated wood can react with aluminum over time, they proactively replaced the material with a more appropriate product at no additional cost. I never would have known the difference, but they chose to do it correctly rather than simply covering it up. It demonstrated their experience and attention to detail as well as a commitment to quality. They consulted me on small finishing details like the color of the exterior outlets, dryer vent, and utility fixtures. I didn't realize I'd care about such things until I saw the finished result. The crew arrived on time every morning and worked steadily throughout the day, sometimes even in less-than-ideal weather when conditions allowed. Watching the project unfold gave me a new appreciation for how much preparation goes into a quality siding installation. Removing the old siding, repairing areas as needed, installing house wrap, preparing trim, and carefully finishing every detail required far more work than I had imagined. My installation took approximately two weeks. I have a larger home, the original siding had a significant number of nails to remove, and several days of heavy rain delayed progress. Throughout the project, I was visited twice by the project manager and twice by the owner. They wanted to make sure I was happy with the work, answer any questions, and address any concerns before they became problems. My questions were minor, but each one was treated seriously and resolved promptly. That level of involvement gave me confidence that if a significant issue had come up, it would have been handled just as professionally. At the time of writing, the siding installation is complete. The only remaining items are a few pieces of specialty window trim that were backordered and the gutter installation, which will be completed by a separate crew. It ran a little rough for a couple months with no real issue but decided to get a professional to adjust the air and etc. So to start the tech who did the service over tightened the thread on the drawer assembly cross threading it and causing it to leak an insane amount two days after service. An emergency tech comes to tell me that it probably was like that from the manufacturer (even though it was running fine before the service and I personally installed and inspected the drawer assembly two months prior.) He proceeded to tell me that it would cost $500 or more to have it fixed... gave them the benefit of the doubt just to be ignored and blocked by them. After installing another drawer assembly, I thought all would be good. But the tech did not tighten the set screws enough and the oil burner had fallen out of place causing a bunch more combustion issues. Also had to buy a stand for the burner to prevent it happening again. The oil pressure was also jacked all the way up( I assume by the emergency tech because it was leaking) instead of telling me any of this I had to fix it on my own. I was going to let it go until I was ignored and blocked. I get companies have to make money but it's the bare minimum being honest. And if you were an honest company you would have helped fix the problem you caused instead of gaslighting me and saying it will cost 500-700$. Especially when the part is less than 80$ and takes less than 10 minutes to swap.

Good indication of integrity up front. Tyler, the co-owner and lead installer, came out several days later to do a more thorough evaluation. Extremely courteous, professional, polite, and accommodating. Highly knowledgeable as well. Explained all the options and designs, and their pros and cons. No sales pitches etc. Just the facts. Really made the effort to preserve the character of our older style home. When his team started working, all very courteous, professional, knowledgeable. Showed up with masks and booties to protect our floors. Worked quickly and efficiently. Tyler was there the whole time, welcomed any questions, described exactly what they were doing and why. The finished product is superb, and blends perfectly into the house. All the work was done with the outmost attention to detail. When we ran the heat last night there was a problem, it would not shut off. I called Tyler, he called me back within 15 minutes, and was at our house within a half hour. The problem turned out to be an old defective valve in the pre-existing pump (which he could not have known about at the time). He worked to diagnose the problem and fixed it on the spot. Really cannot ask for anything more. Tyler and his team are superb. They should be teaching seminars on customer relationship building. Lastly, about the price. Are they the cheapest HVAC contractor out there? No. But their quote was very competitive. You may pay a little bit more than the cheapest bid, but you will not find his level of perfectionism anywhere else.

He arrived promptly to give me the estimate, and I told him we would like to go ahead get the work done. First, he told me he would be here on Thursday and it would be a 1 day job. On Thursday, late in the morning, I called him and asked him where he was. He told me we had an appointment for Wednesday (the day before), but his other job ran late. I didn't ask him why, if that was true, he didn't call me on Wednesday and tell me he wasn't coming. Anyhow, at that point he told me he would be there on Friday (the next day). On Friday he called me and told me he couldn't make it because he "had to take his wife shopping and forgot about the plans they already made together". He told me he would come on the next Tuesday. So, on Tuesday he didn't show up. In late morning I called him and asked him where he was. He told me the forecast was calling for rain later in the day, so he could either come and do the inside stuff today (Tuesday), and finish the job on Friday, OR he could come on Friday get the job done or finish it on Saturday. I told him to come today and get started because he already postponed on us a few times and he has our deposit. He arrives later in the day and removes the old chimney liner. He dragged our wood stove onto our hardwood floor with a piece of plywood under it, by HIMSELF. So you can imagine the scratches on my nice wood floor. He leaves all the crap from my chimney in my garage and leaves a total mess! And says he will be back on Friday. On Friday I sit and wait for him. At 11:00 he is a no show so I call him and leave him a message. At 12:30 I call him again and finally get through to him. I ask him where he is and he tells me he needed to order a part and it should be here in 5 days or so. I compose myself and ask him politely and professionally why he didn't let me know that, because I had to take a day off of work to wait for him. His answer is "I don't know what to tell you, maybe you should just find someone else to do the work". So here I am, with a mess in my living room, a mess in my garage, a 600 lbs wood stove in the middle of my hardwood floor, and he still has my deposit. Not to mention he wasted 3+ weeks of my time so there is probably no possible way for me to get this thing repaired the right way this winter. My suggestion is to stay as far away from this company as possible. ***** UPDATE 9/25/17 ***** I see the owner of the company finally replied to my review 2 years after I wrote it. Again, he is obviously confusing me with another customer that is not happy with him. I was very professional and pleasant with him. But I did tell him I was not happy that he quoted us for a 1 day job and it was incomplete after 2 weeks before he walked off. I can understand reasonable delays but this guy would continue to schedule us and then not show up. I have a full time job, and so does my wife. If I take a day off (or several) to be home because he has scheduled us, and then he doesn't show up or call, that is an issue to me and I don't mind telling him that in a professional manor. HE was the one who was unprofessional and unreliable. He left a mess in my house, dirty pipes and crap in my garage (that he was supposed to dispose of), and major scratches in my hardwood floor. First, I received a call back after leaving a message immediately (like within the hour). I called 3 other contractors, 2 of them never returned my call and a third called back after P&R completed the work. Rick came out to my house the very next day to survey the damage and take some measurements. I had an estimate for the work within the week and they started working right after that. Rich and Jake made great recommendations for how to refurbish the basement (suggesting vinyl flooring instead of the carpeting). They installed all the flooring, repaired all of the baseboard, fixed the covering to a load-bearing beam, painted 2 rooms with 3 different paints (2 coats each) and even installed sump pump so that the flooding that happened will not happen again. They did all this work in 1 weeks time and at a great price. They worked hard and were willing to answer all of my novice, homeowner questions the entire time. Since this initial work we have had them reinstall a backsplash for out kitchen counters AND Rick came out on a Sunday, during an emergency where my power breaker was tripping every few minutes. You're simply not going to find a better contractor that P&R. My wife and I are putting together a master list of projects that we want P&R to work on in the coming years and are looking forward to having them continue to add value to our home.
