Somehow, we find ourselves forgetting what we thought about Severance Brewing until the next time we walk in. That's crazy to me because it's definitely my top pick for the Sioux Falls stops. There is plenty of natural light. The music is good. The ambiance clean & fresh without feeling sterile/ generic or uninviting. The staff know their products & the selections are solid. The cheeky brew based on the 1 star review shows the playful side, despite the pettiness. Perhaps, that's the key to seeing Severance into my memory. Of course, we purchased cooler beers this time... soon to be couch beers or camping beers. read more

5/5!!! Had a great quick drink out on the patio at Severance. I haven't been here in a few years (I live out of town) and it was just as good the second time around. I am gluten free and I'm so grateful they have GF options. I hope they aren't ran by the same line as gluten options but I didn't have a reaction. The service was great, had a little mix up with getting overcharged but he noticed and fixed it right away. We got to sit outside, enjoy the beautiful weather and heard music from the Levitt. Great brews, outdoor seating, and friendly bartenders. What more could you ask for? Sat outside on a Saturday evening and got to enjoy live music from the ampitheater and watch fireworks. Spectacular experience! Tried the current cider, love that they rotate with area ciders. Husband tried the Narwhal and the Fantastic Voyage, both appreciated well! read more

Neat place, but if it wasn't nice out, I wouldn't want to come here. The outside patio is awesome and it's a dog and family friendly area. Inside is smaller and VERY loud. Prices are a tad high, but we're also not used to Sioux Falls prices. (We're from Nebraska - visiting family today.) I was glad they have a small NA menu, which includes TCH infused sparkling waters. I tried two of those. $17 with tip. Great for small groups, but I don't think any food options are available. read more

I'd say it's between a 4-4.5. This was the first brewery we visited while in town. It was a Friday late afternoon and not too busy. The space is really nice and open. We sat at the bar stools by the open window. Beers were pretty good - didn't knock my socks off but all pretty easy drinking. I had a sour, the kolsch, a wheat ale, and a lager. Service was friendly and I would definitely stop in again when I was in town! read more

First time stopping here while in town on business. Modern feel to the tasting room. Lots of window glass and spacious area. Street parking was fine for the Wednesday night I visited. Bartender was knowledgeable on the beers and said he home brewed one of the offerings. Good guy and he spoke highly of his other breweries in town which is a cool thing about the brewer culture. Good selection of IPAs that were all decent. Located in downtown walking distance from the Falls. Lots of breweries in vicinity so a good place for a brewery crawl. Beers are good but I've had better. No complaints though. Check them out. It was dog friendly the night I was there. read more

Absilutely horrible experience overall. cannot believe how rude the server and bartender, Jeremy, treated us. they should both be embarrassed. I hope the owner sees this. They cost him quite a bit of business tonight. Pizza and wine for a four top and beers for an hour whole the guys drank - another 6 guys. We were greeted and helped by the lovely woman working the bar. She was very kind and helpful. The beer was good, pretty standard. An older man came in to work behind the bar and we immediately felt unwelcomed. We have 3 young kids and I understand perhaps that is not the target patron they are going for. But he clearly did not want our children there. We wouldn't have come there if we didn't feel welcomed at first by the woman working there. We were so flustered with how he approached our children that we left mid-beer. Wouldn't come back. read more

I had never been here so I stopped by when I was in town from Florida. It is on Philips Avenue close to the Falls Park. They have a nice location with seating inside and out. A nice selection of beers. I try the Monster Cookie on Nitro and the Coconut Tan Lines - both were good. read more

Me and my family were visiting from out of town and stopped at Severance a little after 10:30 on a Friday night. The brewery had a posted closing time of 11 p.m. When we ordered we were told that we were lucky we were getting served any beer at all because last call was at 10:30. We also were served our beer in a plastic cup because they clearly did not want to wash the dishes. Majority of the chairs were also put up onto the tables. If you plan on going to this brewery anywhere near closing time then don't go because they clearly want to be out of there at the posted closing time. The beer was good, but the customer service is not. read more

randomly stopped in because we passed by headed to the falls and they had live music. the man playing had an incredible voice. the bartender (blonde) was attentive, and made sure we found beers we would enjoy. stood and chatted with us about her life and made sure we were taken care of. they serve little bar snacks (meat sticks, popcorn, that kinda stuff). it's worth the pop in! read more

Maybe it was just a bad night. I, along with about 20 other people stopped in on a party bus on a Thursday night at about 8:35. Yes we were a little loud, but the live music they had that night picked up his guitar and started to play, we sang along. We all got out first beer no problems and stood around talking and having a great time. The problem started when I went to get a second, and I was told in a completely rude manner "NO"! I think the shocked look on my face was the prodding the bartender needed: "we close at 9:00" he said. Again in a totally rude manner. Not, "Sorry but were closing soon" or any explanation. Not even a warning when we got our first, or when we came in. Just completely didn't want our business or us there. Okay, so I pulled my phone out of my pocket, according to Verizon it was 8:53. So apparently they were on bar time. We started talking to another person who was there (who happened to be a former owner of another local brewery) and she informed us that last call was at 8:30. She agreed though that with a crowd our size all wanting a 2nd, they could have made an exception. Maybe this time with an explanation. We would have gladly had a 2nd and made it quick and left happy. Other than leaving with a bad taste in our mouth and knowing that they just didn't care about customer service. Like I said maybe someone just had a bad night and decided to take it out on some people having fun. read more
