Immediately a sudden feeling of doom washed over us as the lighting was subpar, the lack of background music, no customers and looking to be on the verge of going out of business. Couldn't shake the feeling that something (perhaps someone) may be sucking the life right out of my body right then and there. We couldn't gather ourselves quick enough to leave. Once outside in the sunshine the hope returned that maybe we'd live to see another day, maybe even another Michael's. It's been months and we've yet to step into another. Will we ever step foot inside again? Only time will tell.

I've been twice and both times was helped by the same woman, who spent her time talking poorly of the other quilt shops in town, responding harshly to basic customer service questions, and being generally too abrasive. This hobby is expensive and hard enough without having to deal with ugly personalities and inflated prices. If you need specialty yardage it'll be here, but I'd rather drive to Versailles or Cynthiana to find it instead. Lots of tools if you need to find a specific template or ruler it'll probably be here, just be prepared to pay above MSRP. I'd be excited to come back again and spend too much money, if it felt more welcoming.

They saw the good reviews he had online and thought he would be a good choice for this important project. Over a month later (August) they were told that he had stripped the chairs down and just needed to put the new fabric on and they would be finished in 3 weeks (September). Today, IN MID-OCTOBER, after countless unanswered phone calls and text messages, my family went to the shop and saw their chairs exactly how they had dropped them off - NOT "almost ready" as they had been told. Furthermore, they found out at this encounter that this man's business was being evicted from this location in two days! He made no contact with them to return the chairs - reupholstered nor otherwise. Thank goodness my parents got their furniture back, BY CHANCE today, but he HAS stolen their money. Nearly $2,000! Do not give this man your business - the good reviews that you are reading no longer apply, apparently. There are better upholsterers in Lexington.

I ordered clay online as well and the website was clear about relevant delays and the reasons why- including certain ingredients being harder to access or changes to formulations. There are similar delays to much larger websites, and this local business feels like a better use of money. The person who helped me was friendly and available for my questions without making me feel pressured to buy anything. I will keep coming back for KY Mudworks brand clays (especially Iceman and Sheltowee) and glazes (their clear glaze is flawless, and Sequoia is another favorite).
