I can't recommend Sew Fabulous based on my experience. I hope this helps anyone who's considering using them, because I wish I had paid closer attention to reviews before booking. I chose Sew Fabulous because it's close to my home, a friend had a good experience with them, and I was willing to pay more for quality and convenience. My dress was an Azazie bridesmaid dress, and I only needed the hem shortened. I booked six weeks in advance, so there was no rush fee. I paid the required $75 appointment fee, changed into my dress, and the hem was pinned in just a few minutes. When the estimate was calculated, I was quoted $255 to hem the dress. I understand every business has the right to set its own prices, and I'm not criticizing them for charging what they believe their work is worth. I was simply caught completely off guard. My dress cost around $80, and based on conversations with others--including someone who had used this shop for a similar dress--I had no reason to expect a quote anywhere close to that amount. I politely asked if the estimate was correct because I genuinely thought there might have been a calculation error. Instead of feeling like there was room for a conversation or even a second look at the estimate, I immediately felt like the focus shifted to explaining their policies and that the $75 appointment fee would not be refunded if I chose not to proceed. While I understand those policies are posted and businesses have every right to protect their time, I left feeling like there was very little effort to understand why I was so surprised or to work through the situation with me. The price itself wasn't what bothered me most--it was how the interaction was handled. I came in intending to hire them, not to shop around or waste anyone's time. Walking away without any work done but still out $75 left me feeling taken advantage of rather than cared for as a customer. If you do choose Sew Fabulous, I strongly recommend asking for a rough price range before paying the appointment fee so you know whether it's within your budget. I also recommend understanding their payment policies ahead of time, as they differ from many alteration shops. Please improve your communication about online bookings. Not only did I get an online confirmation. I also received two text messages from this establishment reminding me of the appointment that day and then an a death note 30 minutes before saying you have an appointment in 30 minutes. I arrive and they told me they were four weeks out for the dress and I told them when I needed it made the appointment and told him what I needed on wine. Wasn't a problem when I booked it the problem was when I tried to go in and have a fitting done. The girl that spoke to me was rude. I immediately found a different place went had a fitting done that day. Have the dress picked up and ready for the black tie wedding we're going to. read more

Since retirement, I've lost 25 pounds and a fair number of my favorite garments just don't fit properly anymore. With the turn of the weather to winter, I was particularly missing my fleece lined wool vest. It hung on me like a tent. Thank God for Angela!
