I am always drawn into fabric stores while on a quest to secure fabric for my supremely artistic twin sister. I am not a quilter/crafter/sewer by any means. My twin sister has not met a fabric store she hasn't fallen in love with. So, for her, I went to the shop with no intention of purchasing material. I sent her photos of material. Next thing you know....one hour later... three large bags of material and $200 later, I escaped. Needless to say, my twin was pleased. Her particular favorites included the fabric with sewing cats and the Wisconsin-outdoor-printed fabrics. The Sewing Basket seems to be a community favorite- a gathering spot and a place that offers classes. The owner was very friendly and accommodating.

You can never have too much time in fabric places. I liked this shop, good space for longarm machine and classes and a decent selection of fabric. I was oddly ignored when I came in and when I went to get my fabric cut. I heard and saw other people greeted and asked if they wanted their fabric cut. I stood for a while and then did one of those Yoohoo type deals. The woman was pleasant enough but it was strange to feel so invisible. It was fun to drop in on our way home but not worth a special trip. I did get some decent solids for an upcoming project and their solid selection was, well, solid!

They have very large selection of fabric and many, many accessories. They sell sewing machines, they sell sewing tables and assorted furniture. It is owned by a husband and wife. I always seem to deal with Jim and he truly is one of the kindest, and giving men I have ever met. They always run various specials and they have a wonderful deal where you buy this box that has all kinds of samples of notions etc, there is also some kind of voucher in the box where you get a free yard of material every month. Along with that special if you buy a machine you then get 20% off for the next I don't know how many years. They have terrific values in their clearance section too. Definitely do not recommend working with Calico!…read moreThroughout the process (3 full months) they did not order fabric samples (after numerous times asking), once they received the chairs they charged us an additional $650 for foam that was not included in the original estimate, and once we got the final product the legs of the chairs were scraped and scratched (after we refinished ourselves because they wanted to charge $1,000). The staff continuously did not understand why were frustrated and in the end told us they would not give any more money back. The worst customer service and final product. I would recommend going with any other company.

Calico Corners has some beautiful fabrics in nearly every price point and color. And to make sure the look is complete, there's matching trim, thread and accessories. Although there's fabric in nearly all price levels, it didn't take me long to figure out that the fabrics I liked the best were priced a bit beyond my comfort level. The triple digit cost per yard quickly had me circling to the more budget-friendly line of fabrics that were also beautiful. I spent some time looking at the books and listening to the employees help the other customers make fabric decisions. I was impressed with how well they were able to offer suggestions and assist in the decision making. CC is a type of store that will overwhelm you with options, but there's a friendly face to help you every step of the way.
