I called to have about seven pieces, all various sizes, taken from my apartment. I got a quick quote on the phone, and set up an appointment. On the day of my move, the guy actually called to say he was running about ten minutes late due to the huge fireball pg&e fire on polk street that afternoon. He still showed up only three minutes after the appointment time. My elevators were also knocked out due to the fire, so everything would have to be done by stairs. He started right away, hauling things faster than I could have ever done. I helped him with some of the bigger stuff, but he was super fast and knew what he was doing. He was a great guy first, and a great worker second. Easy to talk to, kind, and willing to help with anything I asked. I would recommend these guys to anyone, and have so about three times since. Great Service! Had just finished doing a major remodel of my house, and had loads of crap in the garage. I had old paint cans, rolls of heavy carpet, tack strips, cardboard, and broken mirrors. You name it I had it! Called them on Tuesday and James was able to come out Wednesday morning to give me an estimate. He was actually 5 minutes early, which was a blessing since I had to rush into work. He gave me an estimate and actually asked me what I deemed fair. So I gave him my price and he agreed! Gabe & James are super! They have taken stuff from our house, when we had a huge pile o stuff from a re-model which had been sitting there for a while. I think we had Gabe that time, he even pulled up some chunks of concrete that he said needed to go, and scoured the yard for any small pieces of debris that he could throw into the truck. I swear that truck could hold the Gulf oil spill and still have room for some old tires and stuff. Sent an email last weekt for a pretty big stump removal. The stump had been pre-cut from the ground and only needed to be hauled away. Since they had one picture of a stump on their web site that was slightly larger than mine, I used that as an example and asked for a ball park. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from James in the morning with quote of $100. Fair enough, I called back and got Robin (?) on the line. Not super pleasant, but that's ok, we're all busy. He said he was going to go look at it today and asked that I call back later in the afternoon. "This was likely to cost $150". Price just went up by $50. I called back at the end of the day and was told that they would go see it tomorrow. I asked for a finger in the air estimate because i needed to make a decision soon and he answered $200. Double the price in 48 hours, that's great. In addition to the price increase though, I really felt like the person on the phone had better things to do. Won't call again. read more

I have no idea how we accumulated so much CRAP in our apartment over the eight years that we lived there. After sorting through all our stuff for our move, we had a TON of stuff to get rid of. There was no way we would have been able to haul it all to the dump ourselves (nor would we have wanted to). Luckily James at SF Haul was gracious enough to come and get our junk on short notice, and for a reasonable rate, considering the volume of crap we had. Had a very good experience with SF Haul today. I found them a little gruff on the phone yesterday when getting an estimate, but when I was concerned about the cost (I'm on a serious budget at the moment!), they offered to come down a little. Just a little, but I really appreciated it. I appreciated that they could come the next day, too. I really needed to get rid of this stuff NOW. When I met the fellows in person (Gabe & James), they introduced themselves and I had a very positive in-person impression of them. Really nice guys. They quickly loaded my stuff into their truck. *And* I asked if they could give me a quick hand moving something a little too heavy/awkward for me, and they did so happily. Yay! SF Haul is phenomenal. I first used them when my apartment building had a fire and I needed to toss out most of my smoke damaged belongings. Then, I used them again when I was planning a move and needed to downsize even further. Just got off the phone with them and they easily and quickly agreed to come by tomorrow and take all the rest of the stuff I am throwing out before the movers get here. They are consistently friendly and provide excellent service. They are also FAST! I have used Yelp for years, but rarely do I review. Getting rid of stuff. That's sometimes a difficult task for people to initiate. And the longer you've been at one place, the harder it becomes. For some, it's easier to kep on collecting stuff until folks start whispering 'hoarder' . Well, one can nip this in the bud and start feng shuing their living spaces by calling SF Haul. James and his rugged pickup will be there in a jiffy as evidenced by my experience today. Being in the process of moving, I had a list of stuff that needed to be removed. Yep, even that bowling ball given to me a decade ago. Out with the plastic lounge chair sitting out back and all the empty paint cans as well. I called in the morning and he was over promptly at 330 this afternoon. He will take five or less gallons of paint but anymore will be trouble. In five minutes I had cleared enough space in my apartment that it started sounding echo-y. And for $90 I couldn't complain, having no vehicle to carry this all to the dump. Nice guy and quick.
