It was really easy to just call up Junk King set an appointment and get my old stuff hauled away but even better, I found out that they have a standard minimum on how much they have to recycle and reuse. I appreciate the multiple notifications (text + email) because I know I would have forgotten. Honest about pricing per item and the space that it takes up in the truck. I should have called and asked for a quote but at the same time I was ready to part with the items that have been sitting around for almost a year. They were considerate and gave me a call about 25 min before arrival. Scheduled a sofa removal. The drivers came on time and asked me if I received a quote already. I said no, then asked me cash or credit. I said cash, and they quoted me $200. A little high, but whatever, I paid it. After the job was done, I received an email invoice for $100. I spoke to the manager who said that the drivers likely pocketed the difference but did not offer me any refund or recourse. I work as a plumber I get so many different customers and sometimes you get that type of customer where you will have to go as low as you can to close it a deal. I was the easy customer that you ever had I guess. At the end of the day I made a deal for $300 dollars in 20 minutes of work. (I get it they have to take all the stuff to the junking place but still) Regardless at the end of the day he do not want to take a bag that was already there, and he just said that I keep on adding stuff that's shy he wants not going to take it. Using the Yelp system, Junk King came in with the lowest quote out of four. In order to get a quote we provided a photo and a description "sheetrock and timber framing" and location. Byron quoted $95 and I double checked that this was correct. All this recorded on the Yelp messaging. A big truck arrived with three fellows in the quoted time frame but they were not prepared to take the rubbish away for the quote. They initially said $450 then it went to $380 so we refused. They seemed happy to go without checking with Byron. I sent a message to Byron for an explanation. He initially suggested that we added more to the pile that was in the photo. When we denied that he said that the fellows reported our rubbish would fill two trucks and the price was $198. Firstly, the amount of rubbish would fit easily into a small truck. See photo. Secondly, the massive difference between the online quote to initial on the spot demand and then its subsequent fall, made me uneasy as to what was really going on.
