He gives private one-on-one lessons all over San Francisco tennis courts and charges a reasonable rate. Since this is his full-time job, he is very flexible with schedules, especially with professional working people, and so he teaches 7 days a week. Rainy days? He has no qualms with rescheduling or cancelling. Most lessons are structured practices, ending in great volleys or games. Some days, I am downright tired and barely hanging onto the racket or angry and frustrated in life and need to hit some serious balls. Tim is able to adjust the game to accommodate the level spectrums. Just do not do it too often as he can burn out too! Overall, Tim is very good at gauging your skills, strength, and energy and tailors the lessons based on his assessments every 15 minutes. Great conversationalist too. He provided specific, actionable feedback on her backhand, slice, volleys, serve, and drop shot, which is advice she has continued to use now that we are back home in Minnesota. I called the centers office and checked the website and both confirmed that the courts are public. Even though I'm on a budget, I'm a relative beginner and I was worried that my amateur mechanics were leading to injury and would prevent me from playing without some instruction. I'm growing to love the sport, so I was very happy to talk with Andy who shares the same genuine enthusiasm. From the first phone call, he was very kind, friendly and sincerely interested in helping me improve my game to avoid injury. There were no phony sales pitches at all - just true concern and generosity from someone who loves tennis and wants to share his excitement with others. I was immediately impressed with Yoav's ability to quickly assess one's game and come up with drills that improve it with what felt like surgical precision. With his help I was able to make some adjustments that started paying off immediately. I think the most impressive example was fixing simple things in my serve preparation that improved the accuracy of my first serve in just one session, which in turn had a huge impact on my confidence in matches! The clinics had just the right balance/pattern of theory, drills and live points - when working on a stroke, technique or strategy you first understand how it works and why it works, then get to practice it with targeted drills and finally try to apply it in a real-world situation, under the pressure of Yoav's shots coming at you.
