Stepping into the shop that sits up front was lavendar scented at its absolute best. There were so many soaps, lotions & room fragrance choices. Be sure to take a good whiff of Mackinac Island in spray or candle. The combination of lavendar & lilac is amazing. Order some ice cream & step outside to your choice of relaxation. A shaded walk, picnic table, chair, or hammock all offer the calm of nature. Dont be surprised by a friendly visit from a goat or chicken. Down the path are the lavendar fields. They offer a beautiful picture or pick some to take home. Baskets & tools are in the shop. Stay awhile or make it a quick visit. Either way, you are definitely going to leave relaxed & looking forward to your next visit.

This past weekend, I stopped by Shades of Lavendar with my mom and sister. We checked on their Instagram page (which seems to be updated frequently) to make sure the U Pick was ready and headed over. The farm is located about a mile off I-94. If it's your first time, I would definitely recommend putting the location into your GPS. The sign off the main road is VERY tiny and it is easy to miss the drive way. However, once you get there, it is easy to see the building that houses the shop. We walked in and were greeted by friendly staff who set us up with our U Pick supplies. You get a cute basket, cutting shears, and an instruction guide for how to cut the lavender (the staff also helped with this part!). Then, they send you down the path to the lavender fields. The path itself was the CUTEST thing! There are hanging lights, little hammocks and it looks like a page out of fairy tale. Seriously you could take so many adorable pictures here! When we got to the field, we were greeted by the owner, who was super friendly and gave us a quick lesson on the different varieties of lavender before letting us do our thing. After picking, we brought the lavender back to the store where the staff bundled them up for us. You pay per bundle, but each bundle is a good size, so the pricing seemed very fair to us. There is also a large assortment of lavender-filled things available for purchase, including candles, bath bombs, soap, lotion, perfume, and much more. Overall, we had an amazing time at Shades of Lavender! Everyone was so friendly and the farm is absolutely beautiful. I would HIGHLY recommend making a stop out here. You won't regret it!

I called ahead before my trip to make sure this was a field you could walk around in and it was so much more! they have 4 areas of lavender (purple, pink, white, and an area where you're not allowed to clip for photos which came in use). $5 for a twistie tie bundle is a great price compared to others i've been to. there are hammocks and chairs to relax. the place is a great family business and the owner and, i'm assuming, daughter were so helpful. there is also Tsuki who was my favorite worker (the lavender farm dog)! great job keep it up!

We stopped by earlier today! It was a mum and daughter date. :) It is almost the end of the lavender season; however, we were still be able to experience U-Pack; super friendly owner and his cute family! We had a great time to walk around and harvest various lavender! It is a family own petite local farm; family is young and passionate about gardening! Will visit it every time I am in town! Farm offers a nice setting for chill out and relax; good for small event/gathering as well.

Made a special trip down to the lavender farm, only to show up at 10am with 3 other groups of people with absolutely no staff around. Facebook said they would be open 10-6, all 4th of July weekend long. Drove an hour for absolutely nothing, tried calling no answer. Sign in the window says 'smile your on camera' but it seems as through their blink cameras are not working, so the staff has no idea we are here. Extremely disappointed in the lack of communication on the part of this business, will never be coming back, what a waste of 3 hours. Don't waste your time, making a special trip for this place, they can't seem to know when they are open.

This spot underwent a glow up and a rebrand since the last time we were here and I love it!…read morePreviously you would do your shopping in the big building on the property (where I assume they do a lot of the processing and kept all their equipment, it felt kind of like a "facility" or warehouse of sorts) and it was pretty barebones. And it was fine! Better than fine because the blueberries were so good! I had no complaints. But now they've leveled up. Now it's not just good blueberries but good ambiance as well! They've converted another smaller building next to it as a storefront and it's chock full of blueberry based goodies like jams, jellies, baked goods, dips, mustards, beverages, etc. Way more to choose from! They also sell ice cream and added a play structure to help entertain the kiddos that get a little bored of picking (smart). The day of our visit it was around 100 degrees and humid so I was not up for picking myself. Instead I arrived ready to buy a box of pre-picked fruit in bulk like I had in the past. I walked into the cute new storefront, scanned the shelves, and panicked. There were no boxed berries to be seen! Was this no longer a thing?? U-pick only?? Why God why!? No need to panic, the really lovely woman at the counter explained to me. They just ran out because nobody wanted to pick in the heat (fair) and they had another load of blewbs (just processed and boxed) enroute and arriving at any moment, she just wasn't sure when exactly. Our time in town was limited so we decided we'd come back instead of waiting. She assured me there would be plenty available. And she was right! A couple of hours later we came back to find the coolers absolutely stocked full of 5lb boxes. I was fielding requests from the family back home to bring them some so in the end I bought 20 pounds worth. I also added a blueberry lemon coffee cake for good measure. Great visit! Wonderful changes! Lovely personnelle! And most importantly, the blueberries are still amazing. Next time I just hope it's cooler so I can get an ice cream cone that wasn't going to liquify the moment I stepped outside.
