It was fun to be back here. To their credit, I liked the shirts for Shady Maple, I bought my son one. Considering he had the "left side of the menu." This gift store downstairs, I'd recommend the Shady Maple clothing, as it's cheaper than everything else. The "man cave" LED lights are 50% less online elsewhere. The nutcrackers and other decorations, to each their own on this stuff. One of the most ridiculous gifts, were NFL bbq grill spatulas. I'm not paying $25 for my teams logo, to be put on such an item. Someone else can. They do have some fun candies. Plus the employees are very polite. When here check it out, but aside from Shady Maple merchandise, there's not a lot that intrigued me.

Amazed that I'm the first to review this location! What an exceptional used book store! I walked out with a couple great books to add to my collection, and will be back soon to pick up some more! My favorite thing about this store is that they offer hard to find books for a great price. They have an extensive Pennsylvania section which includes biographies about many of of the small colleges dotting the southeast part of the state, and a large amount of genealogical books as well. I was strapped for time and didn't get a chance to explore the entire store, but the sections I perused left me with a great feeling about the place. The lady who helped me check out was extremely friendly as well. Have already recommended this store to a couple friends and family, and I will personally be making the trip back out as soon as next week. Highly recommend!

The owners of THIS store have been in the book business for a while. Both put in years at a large chain bookstore. They've used that experience to create a store people WANT to shop. They are extremely knowledgeable on many topics, and very friendly. The store, like many used bookstores, is a work in progress. The difference is the people, and the staff are amazing!

Owners Evita and Solise have created a space that shows appreciation to the culture, while celebrating the stories of people of African diaspora through literature and art. For those who are reading this and are from the DMV area think of Busboy & Poets but with a little twist. So what's the twist you ask? They offer beer and wine through a self-serve tap system. Meaning you receive a wristband that allows you to help yourself to a variety of local beers and wine. Each is charged by the ounce and is charged to your tab at the end of your visit. An added bonus is two of the wines that were available were made in-house; the Concord Jungle and Mizz Education. We enjoyed the Mizz Education which is a sweet and refreshing Moscato so much we ended up taking two bottles home with us. Let me just say this, I've been to my fair share of restaurants for brunch and the food at Concrete Rose hands down is the top 5 best food I've ever had. We tried a variety of options which include the Salmon Avocado Toast, Soul of the Sea and Chicken wings with concord bbq sauce. All were seasoned, cooked and plated to perfection. Whew Lord just thinking about those crab cakes with herbed garlic butter and remoulade sauce has me thinking about taking a road trip to get some more. Ambiance, food and service are all top tier at A Concrete Rose. Do yourself a favor and check them out. There's so much there for you to see and try! I can promise you one thing, you won't be disappointed. Evita and Solise you've outdone yourselves on this one! So proud of what you both have accomplished. Keep shining ladies, the world needs your light!

So far I've only purchased books, but will likely be selling some back at some point, which you can do for store credit on a future purchase. The store is spacious and well organized and has a great selection. Every book on the shelves is in great condition, and they have a lot of recent best sellers. They have fun displays, as well as one for banned books, which I love. Most books seem to be in the $7-$10 range and they have a mix of hard covers and paperbacks. I always leave with several books in my arms. The employees are always friendly and helpful, and they seem to take the time to get to know the regular customers. If you're looking for a particular book they don't have, they'll make a note and call you when they get a copy then set it aside for you to come in and pick up within the next couple weeks. And adding to my love of the store - they have a bookstore cat! I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Webster yet, because I'm always there on his day off, but I look forward to meeting him sometime in the future!
