That is exactly how my five-star stay started at the Holiday Inn in downtown Missoula. I had an excellent experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, offering the warm, genuine hospitality you'd hope for when visiting Big Sky Country. We came for a business conference. The hotel's conference center was spacious enough with space for our small meeting and a handful of vendors. My room was well-appointed and thoughtfully designed, featuring smart, modern décor that balanced comfort with a contemporary Montana feel. It was clean and quiet. I noted an indoor pool and medium-sized gym with treadmills and free weights. Parking is onsite and complimentary. It is regulated by gate access. Overall, the Holiday Inn in downtown Missoula offers comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality for visitors and their four-legged friends!

Bed was large and comfortable. My room looked out into the atrium (thought that was kinda weird) but I had the curtains closed most of the time anyway. Didn't try the daily breakfast buffet ($16 pp) but a colleague said it wasn't the best. The closest cafe is the Market on Front about a block away. If you don't get the chance to try Big Dipper Ice Cream in town, there are pints for sale in the hotel lobby. The gym is sizable but not huge and has the standard cardio machines and weights. It's conveniently next to the pool and hot tub. Front desk was great, I was able to check in early. I used the shuttle twice for the airport and the driver Robert was friendly and professional. You do have to schedule it in advance with the front desk. The hotel is in a great walkable location next to the river and in the heart of downtown. It was about a 20 min. walk to the university.

And they don't have a restaurant as the pictures would lead you to believe. Additionally, there are no restaurants close to provide food other than 2 food trucks. Big Sky Brewing had one food truck open, and they ran out of food before we could order, and it was early in the evening. We asked for directions to Big Sky at the hotel's front desk, which they provided. Upon our return, the same staff person (a young man) asked if we'd like some free beer tokens for Big Sky. It would have been nice to have been given them BEFORE we went. The room wasn't very clean. Found hairs on the bathroom floor. Disgusting! Rooms were uncomfortable and sterile and an awful configuration. Also overpriced.

The first time we stayed (second floor), it was amazing, the beds were heavenly! The second time we stayed (again on the second floor) was great too, however at about 3AM I woke up (which is rare because I'm a heavy sleeper) and it was to the smell of like musty, vinegar, unwashed feet. I even smelt my boyfriend's feet to see if it was him who smelt, but alas it was not. So I do understand there's a slight smell issue at this hotel (I think it's more so on the first level) but it's totally not omnipresent, it's just when there's no air flow and when it starts warming up. I'll probably stay here again, it's a good price for a good-quality, safe place. Additionally, there's a small creek that runs behind the hotel! So if you need a place to just relax and watch the water flow, it's like 10 yards away! Front desk folks were nice and didn't take long to check me in, thanks!

Comfortable clean new bed and bedding. But... the front lobby . Entrance and breakfast area is under renovation. No front door. Have to go to a side door to enter. Front desk is a table in room 101. Breakfast is grab and go in room 106. Price is still high for these conditions. And the walls are thin. Once Reno is complete illl be a fine stay. I would imagine giving it a four star rating at that time. But I I wish I had known before I arrived.

Let's start with the positives. The parking was easy and they let my friend park here as well so we could both catch the shuttle in the morning. The staff was nice and check in was easy. The room was clean and they have kitchenettes which is nice. However, there is no coffee machine in the room and no coffee on the premise! This could easily be remedied and should be since this is an extended stay hotel. It made it hard for race morning to get coffee the night before and would be a nice touch to have coffee available. Needless to say there's no breakfast or extra frills here. The biggest problem with the room was the see through blanket. No sheet, just a bottom sheet and literally a see through blanket which is crazy for Montana, but the bed was very comfortable. It was a little pricey considering what you get, but likely due to how busy it was that weekend. So not horrible but a proper blanket and coffee would really elevate this hotel!

Only two towels & wash cloths, no hand towels. Shower had no pressure. No breakfast in the mornings, but you do get a discount at ihop if you show them your room key. Check-in & checkout was simple & easy. Wouldn't necessarily choose to stay here if there was something else in the same price range.
