I think its insane how they KNOW about peoples complaints and still have done nothing about it. Dont schedule patients if you cant see them or if youre making them wait 2+ hours. Not a good experience. Avoid this place if you can. They set appointments but it is just to get you in the door. Once there it's like the hotel California. You will wait hours past your appointment. They move you around so you feel you can't leave. We finally left after 1 1/2 hours past the appointment. When we got home they called to see where we were as the doctor would see us now. The RIO location doesn't stay behind with their horrible customer service. Two techs got my prescription wrong! I heard them say I was right eye dominant which I am not. After I spoke up they told me it wouldn't make much of a difference. Well as an Officer I beg to differ so I called the call center and explained my issue. They rescheduled me only to get to my appointment and have them reschedule me for later that day. I get to my appointment AGAIN and AGAIN they gave me ANOTHER eye exam. They didn't have the new prescription in office so they had to order them. Weeks later they leave a message informing me about my order being in and ready for pick up. I show up only to be told I NEED AN APPOINTMENT. I am not sure what scam they are running but something does not seem right. I told them I regret scheduling my exam with them and I was willing to take it as a loss so they could keep my already paid for contacts and my prescription. I didn't listen to the bad reviews. Your wait time is ridiculous, what's the point of having an appointment if you get seen an hour and a half later every single time one comes here it's the same thing ,but don't let me come in 10 min late because you all will cancel my appointment ,keep your appointment times. all you all want is peoples insurance and first thing you do is charge the insurance yet half the time you fix people's issues .if you cant keep up dont schedule so many people at one time people have things to do if people's time is very valuable take that into account. read more

Make sure you set apart 3-4 hours of your day if you want to get seen. I scheduled my appt and at first the clerk said she couldn't verify my insurance. After checking with their billing, they were able to confirm I was in their network. So I go today for my appt and same thing...first it took about 20 min for them to call me up to verify my insurance and then tell me I'm not in their network. I mentioned to them that according to their billing I was. So the receptionist checks again and finally says I do have coverage but their system hasn't been updated the way it should be to be able to cover me. She said it would be about another 10 min wait and she would call me back up to verify my benefits....well 30 mins later I see her walking around in the hallways busy not checking my information. Almost an hour wait and they can't even verify my insurance? Another man who was waiting in the lobby apparently also got fed up with the wait and when called up told them that after an hour they were finally going to attend him? So he left... I did the same...this place feels like they simply overbook people for the money and it's the customers who suffer the wait. I don't care how experienced or nice the doctors are, a wait time of over an hour is not satisfactory. If this were the first time I'd overlook it but it happens every time. Last week I waited an hour to be told to see a retina specialist this week. Today I saw the specialist He was nice and complete but I told him it would be the last time he saw me. The wait was ridiculous. Two years ago was the same story. I also requested not to have a exam for glasses. I was given a paper to sign it a check at the box for permission was already marked. What a joke of a "professional" establishment. My guy and I made appointments with this place since it was the only local optometry office that took our insurance. He had an appt at 10:20 and mine was at 9:50. I didn't get seen until almost 12 and he wasn't seen until around 12:15. The optometrist was very nice and professional, however the woman who initially gave me the preliminary exam was pushy and rude. She gave me drops to dilate my eyes without really even telling or asking me. I wasn't able to drive safely or work the rest of the day. Then, when we when we were about to leave we asked to get our prescriptions printed out for us. After waiting around for a solid 15 minutes we were told we couldn't get them because the printer wasn't working, but we could come back later. That's nearly impossible with the work schedules we have. They told us coming back to pick it up is the only option. On the way out, the receptionist made another appointment for us without asking. Don't waste your time. I spent almost an hour waiting before they even called me up to verify my insurance information (is that not something they should do before my appointment?). When I was told I'd be waiting at least an hour more before I would see the doctor, I left. The waiting room was crowded, so they clearly try to pack as many appointments into the day as possible and don't care whether those appointments are seen on time or not. Went in for a scheduled follow up appointment. They only had appointment available during my work hours. So I had to take a couple off hours of my work to be there. After waiting for about 10 mins, I was told they have to reschedule me,because ins need prior authorization.I understand the part about rescheduling,but they could have told this over the phone,and I didnt had to waste my time, pay or gas for nothing. I wish I could rate this zero stars. The other day I went to get my frames ( I'm 16 ) I signed in with my mom and decided to find some help. This lady was eyeballing me so I decided to ask her for help, I asked her if she could help me but she totally snapped at me for "being too young" and that I had to be 18. I use to be come here every year and get my eyes checked and used to have a great experience however today I had the worst experience. I come in yearly for my contacts and see the same doctor. This time, there was a different doctor yet I rarely saw him throughout my visit. The technicians did majority everything throughout my visit. Whenever she has questions she would run to the doctor ask him then run back and try to fix the situation. She did that so many times that the doctor had to come in personally ( the first time I see him) and do everything all over again. Second, they made me try on contacts that were a -7 when I am originally a -5.75. I couldn't even see in them because of how much prescription there was in them. Then the doctor comes in again and try to persuade me to get them when I can't even see in them. Overall, I did not enjoy my service here today and this will be my last visit here. I rarely saw the doctor and had to wait such a long time for basically nothing. read more

I would NOT recommend this group. It is a business, not a doctor's office. I arrived early for an appointment, signed in, and asked if they were sure they took my (new since last time) insurance. The lady said "Yes." So I waited 45 minutes-- now 35 minutes past my appointment time-- when I was called up, not to go back to the doctor, but to copy my insurance card, when a new lady said "We need a referral, or you could pay yourself." You are a customer there, not a patient, and there is always a long wait and virtually no time with a doctor. read more

The worst experience in a doctor's office ever. First time in an ophthalmologist. They kept me (and a whole lot of overbooked people) waiting for around 4 hours before Dr. Shah came and after I let him know how I felt about the lack of consideration, he never apologized for the waiting time, I thought he was so arrogant. My whole family is a family of doctors and I could never imagine treating a patient like this. They dilated my pupils without notifying me that it would be nearly impossible to drive back home with the blurry vision, they never asked if I was on my own. The doctor never did all the accurate tests that should have been made to know which glasses I should start using, he just told me to buy any cheap Walgreens reading glasses. Doesn't the Texas Medical Board keep record of this disorganized medical practices? read more

I had gone in the past to Dr Sha; at the office in Mission and the attention almost perfect, Dr Sha would see you dedicate some time with you. And at the end of the day , they all make you feel important . And make you want to go back . His clinics are growing and you would expect a similar or better treatment. But in reality they have gotten worse . Seems now they only care to make money , the service has gone from good to worst and now it makes you feel that it could have been better going someplace else, they gave me a appointment at 10.00 , a nurse or someone that look like a nurse saw me and work on my prescription. But I couldn't leave because the Dr wants to see me to sign in the insurance papers stating that he saw me. But in reality he did not . My question is if this mean that they are cheating the insurance . Or someone not qualified saw me and the doctor need to see me to make sure the lady did a decent job? My son and I waited 2 hours for an appointment. I should've known that the service would be poor when I I had scheduled an appointment three weeks in advanced, gave my insurance information, took a day off work only to be called the day before my scheduled appointment that the doctor I was supposed to see didn't accept my insurance so they had to reschedule. At the appointment, it took over two hour to complete our exam. Before I left, I told the doctor that my new prescription for contacts left me with blurred vision and a slight outline to objects that I was looking at. The doctor told me to call back and tell them the contact brand that I normally used. I called with this info. the next day. My trial pair of lenses took a month to come in and i still had problems. I called again and was rold to wait a week to let my vision "adjust" to the new lenses. Well, my eyes did not "adjust and I still see double /blurry so here i am again at another appointment. I've never had problems with my contact. I should've stayed with my previous eye doctor and paid out of pocket. read more

Dr. Shah said there was nothing wrong with his eye. Luckily I took him for a second opinion outside of the Valley. He needs surgery to fix two problems. My suggestion, don't bother with this clinic. This place turned out to be the worst nightmare for my daughter. She was anxiously waiting to turn 21 years old in order to be a candidate for a lasik eye surgery. Well, as soon as she did, she made an appointment with this business and it was the worst experience of her life. One day she went in for her surgery and they took for ever when they had told her that it was going to be a really fast procedure. It turns out that the machine broke in the middle of the surgery. They just patched her up and literally kicked her out of the office. They told her to come back at a later date. Can you imagine what the horrible experience must of being for my daughter. She was literally blind. She could not drive, go to work, do anything on her own without being held from her hand. We tried to reach out for legal services/attorney services but no luck. Our mistake was to reach out here in the valley locally for an attorney. She lasted several days patched until finally they called her to go back for the procedure. During those days she was very depressed not knowing what was going to happen with her sight. This folks didn't care at all. They could of easily sent her to San Antonio right away or Laredo to finish up the procedure, but they didn't care at all. They have offices in other nearby cities, but like I said, they didn't care. For them its just a business and they can get away with bad practices like this one. I hope this review will help. I personally had my lasik surgery done in San Antonio and it was a great experience. Don't go with this business unless you want to have a bad experience. Me personally, I can deal with the waiting, but not a bad experience like the one my loved one had. read more

Second attempt at getting services today first attempt was told I would have a 2 to 3 wait due the amount because we were considered to be walk in patients, this in fact was true for the first attempt. I scheduled an appointment for the second time the appointment was set at a time that was a little inconvenient, called the office asked if I could go in fifteen minutes later than my scheduled time, I was told that if I was not there at my scheduled time I would have to re-schedule. I made it there 1.5 hours before my scheduled appointment, at the scheduled time we were called in to the first stage checking, than sent back outside to the waiting area. I was really upset as most of the people there said they had been waiting well over 4 hours! I asked the staff how much longer it would be before the Dr. would see us she said the entire process would take up to 2 hours. This is becoming a trend in most places "if you are late you have to re-schedule" but if you are on time you have to wait because the patient load is too much. Is this a case of double booking? prioritization? or just inconsideration of other peoples time? I will find maybe a smaller office where they still have a sense of good service other than more patients more money. I will not recommend this place to anyone, can not comment on the Doctors as we did not even get that far hopefully I will find a place that does take care of their patients with the respect and service they are making their living off of. read more

The owner of the place, Dr. Shah, is rude, disrespectful, and downright mean and dirty. He failed to provide good quality eye care for my child. We went in for a routine eye exam in order to renew her prescription for contacts, and she ended up with serious eye infection in both eyes due to the change in contact lenses to which he adamantly declared could NOT be the root of the problem. Instead, he chose to blame my daughter, telling her in a loud, rude way that she probably had poor hygiene when handling her lenses. In fact, he was yelling and turning red when he was trying to blame us for the inflamed veins in her eyes. When I told him that he was not to talk to my daughter that way and that the problem BEGAN when we went to his office, he became furious, balled up his fists, told me he didn't need my business because he had many other patients who came in and overflowed his waiting rooms. He looked like he wanted to hit me!! We left and then went to a REAL professional with a REAL medical degree (not one from a crackerjack box) and he found that my daughter was ALLERGIC to the type of silicone makeup of the lens itself and he had seen MANY others who had had problems with the new lenses. After clearing up the infection in her eyes, he put her on the same type of lenses she had been wearing for several years, and she was perfectly fine. A year later? Perfect. Thank God for Dr.s that really care about their patients...NEVER come to Shah Eye Torture Clinic!! I have warned many people I know about the dangers of going into that so-called doctor's office. read more
