However, Vyla had been struggling since the beginning of her 3rd grade year, when COVID first hit. Her studies took a nosedive and we had been playing catch-up since. Although being in school was incredibly valuable, she continued to fall behind. As Vyla entered the 5th grade, we were determined to get her caught up as quickly as possible. We considered a few other services, which all looked great, but there was something very warm and positive about Marsha when we discussed Vyla and our determination to get her back to grade level. Marsha reviewed Vyla's background, listened to all of our concerns, reviewed an academic evaluation we had Vyla complete, and discussed an education plan moving forward .When Vyla began the 5th grade, we then reevaluated what Vyla should be doing, based on what was going on in her class. Marsha focused on Vyla's gaps, and with each session, Vyla became more confident, and more focused! When we started, Vyla was hesitate, as Marsha was "new" and she was not sure if she would work well due to having to complete her schoolwork; she was worried about being over-worked. But with each new session, Marsha showed Vyla that studies could be fun! Marsha challenged her with quiz's, facts, flash cards, and Vyla could feel the improvement in her studies. As the school year has progressed, Marsha was quick to utilize the areas Vyla was working on in school, as well as testing her on her spelling, math, and reading. My daughter completed both the English and math programs--she graduated from the English program first and continued with math until recently completing that as well. She has always been self-motivated, but this program further strengthened her independence and ability to learn in a structured environment. A minimum of 5 sessions (monthly) is required for the monthly membership but you can add more if needed according to your child's needs. We came in and my son took an assessment that took 1.5 hours. To be fair it was said that this assessment was one of their longer ones. Every child that comes in, needs an assessment done so the facility can create a learning path for them. Once that's established a binder is created, which is used as a tool to guide them and challenge them when they come in. They also help with homework which was a priority for us. The team is made up of young adults who have recently graduated or in their senior year of high school. I personally thought it's a wonderful pairing because they can explain these new/current methods of math and can relate to their clientele. Personally, team leader Bianca was super helpful registering us and was knowledgeable in helping my teen with his homework. After his first session he felt like he was assisted in the way he needed to understand the material. Which is a WIN for us all!
