There are picnic tables under the gazebo connected to the restrooms. There is a children's play area and the path also runs alongside a property that has beautiful horses. The path is connected to several local communities....lucky them! Definitely a park that you can come exercise or come do some reading, relaxing or even "Work from home"! One note: there's a lady with a neck fan who dominates the small-dog portion of the dog park. And she is there ever. Single. Day. She acts like she runs the place and she has a mean little dog who terrorizes most pups who try to enter. She will lazily call, "oh, he jut wants to play!" As her horrible dog tries to menace your pets, then rolls her eyes and eventually strolls over when the horrid thing gets actively violent. I think she likes having the park to herself, and she gets there super early, so everyone else just sort of avoids her spot. The good news is that she's usually gone by 10 or 11 AM, but she's a menace.

I wish the tennis courts allowed for pickleball, especially because they have lights and we don't really have any lighted options in Winston (except out in Old Town). They have several bridges you can use to cross back and forth. The trails do go under the Glade Street bridge on the south side (park boundary ends here). The bridge is a little sketchy with all the liter and graffiti. Never had any issues though. Overall, Hanes Park is a nice park to enjoy the day. Dog friendly too.

Great for walking, running, riding bikes or scooters. On the other side of the park there are basketball courts, workout stations, a dog park and a baseball field. This is a great part to consider if you want to reserve a shelter for a party. Everything about this park is beautiful and historic.

There's the upper loop walking path which is quiet, peaceful, and scenic. You can get your exercise in or find a bench and soak up some rays. It's especially beautiful during the fall foliage! I also love the pond with the fountain and ducks, and they allow for fishing as well. And of course there's the historic tree! They were renovating the deck this most recent time we went, but normally you can stand inside the hollow of the tree. Such an amazing sight to behold! There's also picnic tables and a nice playground structure for the kids. My only complaint is the playground is fully baked in the sun. It could benefit from a canopy overhead for some shade so the equipment doesn't get blazing hot.

A great crowd of enthusiastic "zumba-ers", good music and amazing instructors, esp Jamie! Classes are only $5 and you can buy punch cards and session cards if you like. Bring some extra money- there were shirts, tanks, etc for sale. I got a cute Zumba tank for $10 which is a steal. Can't wait to go again!
