My 15 year old gas-powered Stihl trimmer finally met its maker in April, and because it lasted that long, it was the only brand I would repurchase. EXPERIENCE: The address is Lower Main St. but access is off of side street, Momi Pl. Look for the blue metal warehouse on the left with "Shindaiwa", "Maruyama" and "Big Tex" banners as no business name is posted. A loud charm announced my entry. There wasn't too much inventory in sight but luck was on my side on this day! I was immediately greeted by the owner, Ryan. I told him I was in the market for a battery-powered Stihl trimmer as it seems everything gas is going away, right? Oddly, the Stihl website wasn't the greatest relayer of information, but Ryan sure was! He gave me the pros and cons of both models and I actually decided to stick with the gas-powered version because he told me that the battery model I was looking at houses its motor near the cutting head which causes problems should water seep in from wet surroundings. MY PURCHASE: Stihl FS 56 RC Trimmer - $219.00 It's a gas-powered, homeowner-grade vs. professional. I had him swap out the line spool to a manual-feed type as I loathe the bump-n-feed design. This new model features their easy-start mode which cuts the starter cord pull length to about a foot long which makes starting a breeze. TIP: They do service lawn equipment but due to staffing and load, they pick and choose what they work on especially if they didn't sell it to you. Totally understandable. OVERALL: Top-notch, one-on-one service with competitive pricing. Definitely patronizing them again!

This set was in our family for over 60 years and I have always known the chairs to wobble and come apart. My mom had repaired, refinished and reupholstered them many times. Since I only have 3 of the 6 chairs remaining, I ambivalently decided to take them to Kido's to be restored, for sentimental reasons, and because it is solid wood furniture. After having him evaluate whether it was worthwhile repairing and restoring that and the other 2 chairs, he gave me the estimate of $200 per chair. It was not an easy decision but I am so glad I decided to have him do the work. The chairs are now so solid and sound. My sister said that they look even better and are more functionally sound than when they were new. His lacquer finish is immaculate. I still need to have the seats reupholstered and he recommended Ohana. So fortunate to have someone so skilled and detail oriented to restore our furniture on island.

He gave us a completion date and more than fair price. They were done earlier than promised. But the best part is how beautiful they turned out. My most recent purchase there was a floor lamp with ceramic pole. I had to replace the lamp socket on it but still a good deal. That's probably why it was donated. Anyway, they usually have a good assortment of light fixtures, tables, chairs and small appliances. The sort of stuff that people upgrade from time to time. They also are a good source of building materials that are left over from jobs the contractors finish. It's hit or miss whether you find the type or quantity of materials you need, but it's still a good place to check if you're about to start a project. We were there recently, to drop off a couple boxes of floor tile and some used copper tubing. I hope someone can use it. There's a small parking lot beside the building. Be really careful there because you might not have much time to react when someone backs out without looking. I had to use my horn, first time in years!
