I have come to shaman modifications for all of my piercings other than my first lobes, and they have always provided high-quality, kind, and efficient service. The environment is clean and welcoming and during the piercing process they are communicative, and I love that when you lay back theres cat pictures taped to the ceiling to comfort you through the pain. For the quality of the service, their prices are very reasonable and they have many many jewelry options and are happy to recommend other options that will work for you if they arent carrying something specific youre looking for. Unfortunately, I have had a negative expirience with one of the piercers. Pineapple, Jade, and Mercedes have all pierced me at different points. Around 3 years ago Mercedes pierced my verticle labret, and it turned out beautiful. Unfortunately I had to take it out because of a surgery after a few months, and once I recovered and wanted to get it repierced I went back. This time Travis pierced it, and I did not agree with his personality very much, as I felt he made some kind of targeted comments at my preferred jewelry and piercing placement, and he also was a little rude when we were having a conversation regarding the circumstances of my surgery. Since there was a scar showing the placement of my previous piercing, I trusted the results would be similiar, but after seeing the markings and thinking they looked good, the piercing happened and it felt a little off. Originally he tried to give me a piece of jewelry for the healing that was comically oversized, and when I said that I would like a smaller size, he acted as if it was a silly request. But truly, my lip was not going to swell to double its normal size because of a repiercing. I signed a form, got the smaller jewelry, and figured I would downsize when it was appropriate and hopefully I wouldnt feel like the placement was weird, but after the piercing had healed and I went to get it downsized, he revealed that no jewelry would fit the way I wanted because there werent any small enough piercings unless I had one custom made. I couldnt afford that so I just accepted it, until this year when I started disliking it so much I decided id rather not have the piercing than have the weirdly placed one, so I took it out. I know the difference might look kind of minimal, but it really drove me crazy to feel the piercing wiggling around so much, and not be able to afford jewelry I would like because it was not within standard sizes. For a while I blamed my anatomy, but a few weeks ago I realized maybe my lips arent weirdly shaped and my prefered placement should be possible, so I got it repierced elsewhere. Now that it is healed (or at least no longer swollen), I can confidently say that Travis messed up with the piercing placement, and acted quite unprofessionally in my opinion. I am comfortably wearing a size piercing that I think is third from the smallest standard size, and it fits exactly how I want. I will attach a photo with a comparison of the piercing i got from travis and my current piercing. (in the top pictures I am wearing a 16g, 1/4 inch piercing, and in the bottom pictures I am wearing a 16g, 3/8 inch piercing.) I cannot recommend the other piercers enough, and I hope to return here for many future jobs, but I would like to recognize this expirience in my review because it was an upsetting expirience that cost me time and money. read more

We have an emergency. 2 days before coming here I was washing my face, when my ring caught my nose ring. Somehow the design part caught my ring and broke off the post part. Of course it went down the drain and what I was left with was the post stuck in my nose. Picture it, standing there trying to pick this post out of my nose. Now I'm in a panic because it's 9pm and Shaman Modifications is closed. I have to work the day until 8pm, and they will be closed then too. So I had to wait. But in the meantime, I have to find a spare ring because the nose will close fast. So here I am, with long nails I can't function in, and an apartment that's packed up as I'm moving in a 4 days. Where is my jewelry box, where do I have my spare nose rings just to get me through a couple days until I can make it in. Finally find one. One of those "L" shaped post types. The ones that look like you have something hanging in your nose. Dear Lord please keep me through this mess. I finally make it in during their business hours 12 to 8pm I was helped right away. Super polite lady helped me. Told her I was looking to buy a nose ring. Gave her my cost range and she showed me two sections. I chose the one that was flush to my nose, and it's a light pink color. A little 3 gem cluster. Really dainty and pretty, and cute. I just want to say how clean this place is. Everything sparkles, everything is sanitary. I mean even their pin pad where you have to initial their paperwork. That gets a fresh new plastic wrap. I mean, this place is cleaner than hospitals, I mean clean clean! After initialing their iPad, and giving my driver license, I was brought back to a small room and I laid down. She took the old nose ring out, I didn't even feel her touch me. And then she put the new one in, which again I didn't feel her even touch me. How does one take out and put in a ring in the nose and you don't feel a single feather touch? Completely stunned at how quick and touchless that was. I love my new nose ring. It's so stinking cute. Highly recommend coming here. Thoroughly explained the process and the aftercare with me, and helped me pick out an earring. This second time around, Travis, was my piercer and he was just as great. He told me I probably wouldn't need to get "re-pierced" since I'd had the pierce for several years and it only just recently closed up on me. He was able to get the earring through with a pinch and I was good to go. My instructions were just a little different than someone getting a new piercing so for me, I don't have to go through the cleaning and 6 weeks follow up. Came in today and got new 18k rose gold earrings with flat backs. Even when I lived in Orange County, CA these were hard to find and to get a large variety of. Shaman had all the high end brands that I love and a VERY VERY big selection which made me super happy. They were incredibly friendly, Sugar was the one that greeted us and started showing us their collection. Jade came by and helped us as well. Turns out we're from the same hometown! Jade was incredibly sanitary and helped me put my new earrings in. She sanitized the station after I used it. They were careful to not let me touch the jewelry which assures me they maintain the highest of sanitation standards. They used plastic wrap on surfaces we touched like the touch screen and credit card user and there was hand sanitizer. Also they accept Apple Pay which for the touch less / sanitation was great! Before you think that's way out of your budget, just remember this is a piece of metal going into your body and if not done correctly can reject or get infected which you may later have to risk amputating your body part off in a worst case scenario. I've gotten all my other piercings done at platinum ink before (15 of them, one rejecting). Let me tell you, they're great for lobe piercings but for the piercings with a little more complicated healing process, I highly recommend coming here if you don't have the budget to spend $132 on a pair of lobes but want to get other piercings like helixes and above done. These people are professional, kind, and make it super easy. I've always had a higher pain tolerance in my ear but when I heard conches are considered one of the most painful piercing, I can't lie I was a little nervous. When I went in, I was able to pick out my jewelry with their assistance (I forgot her name, but she was a beautiful woman with blonde hair!) it was probably a hour from closing, I was the only one in. No rush whatsoever, the piercer stayed in the back to not pressure me. She held each of the pieces up to my ear and helped me decide according to my style and budget. The piece I ended up getting (a little trio of leaves) is absolutely perfect. When that was decided, I filled out paperwork and Jade called me back. I've been here before to have her check on my belly piercing when It was rejecting (i got it at platinum ink-again don't go there for anything other than lobe piercings) super sweet woman that walked me through the entire process. Now let me tell you, that piercing.. to me.. was a 5/10 pain level. The third pair of lobe piercings I got hurt more than that. Seriously. She walked me through everything and sanitized the chair after I got up. She didn't rush me out the door like most piercing places do. When I paid I left a tip which I normally don't especially if it's so expensive. I only ever leave tips when I do actually think they went above and beyond the bare minimum of their job and I don't tip for the sake of it. (I'm a server, I understand the importance of tipping but also when it's deserved rather than given because it's the new standard). These people are amazing. I know if you're thinking, I don't have $100 to blow on a piercing, then wait a little longer to get the money and get it done here. I made the mistake of getting 4 piercings done at once at platinum (2 lobes 2 helixes) for around the same price as one here, none of them healed correctly and it took 9 months. Yes it was my mistake for getting 4 at once, but a professional place would advise against it. They said nothing. The price being so steep also prevents me from going on a piercing spree which I have a tendency to do. I'm a broke college kid with no income right now because I'm home for break, money is tight, but I'd still highly recommend coming here because you know they'll take care of you. They told me to check up in a month from now but since I'll be in college, they told me email pictures can do the trick. I walked in on a Saturday around 5:30 to ask about a piercing! They were quick to attend me at the counter and both of the ladies were very aytentive and sweet and welcoming ! They asked me what I wanted pierced and I went to the back to see if I was eligible to get both my nipples pierced. Jade made sure that I was ok to be pierced in a non judgmental and efficient way! Then I was ready to pick out jewelry! They had some really cute options available for purchase for a slight up charge, but I chose just to get the regular jewelry. Then was time for the piercing! I am not afraid of needles, and have a few piercings already, so I was not too nervous, but Jade went out of the way to put me at ease! She made sure that I never saw the needle, and there were cute pictures of puppies and kittens on the ceiling that you could stare at while you were laying down. It's the details y'all! She drew in me and made sure I liked where the piercing was going. I was able to consult with her about any questions I had about the piercing before I got it, just to make sure that I was prepared. She asked if I wanted it vertical horizontal or diagonal. Something I had not considered! Jade talked me through a small breathing excersize and kept me in the know about when she was piercing. The pain was not as bad as I thought, having gotten pierced before I kind of knew what to expect. She quickly put jewelry in and I could really tell I was in professional, knowledgeable hands! There was no pulling or tugging or unnecessary pain! The second side hurt a bit more, but that's to be expected, since you know what to expect from the first side! I came here because I had been wanting to get my nose pierced. I had also look at additional ear piercings and had been stalking Shaman modification's Insta account for a few years now. I finally had some time and decided to see if I could get in for my nose piercing. Per their 'rona precaution, you have to text their number your name, and the service you want and you get into a virtual line. Lucky for me, no one was there for piercings so I was able to get in right away. Note, this place is quite large inside with a piercing room and tattoo chairs. Jade introduced herself and I was able to pick out my jewelry and was given a price for my nose piercing. I signed all the waivers and consent and they took a picture of my license. The piercing was phenomenal. It barely hurt compared to when I had my nose done years ago. I was shocked and it is currently healing up nicely. One issue I had, for most people it will not be an issue, is one part of their covid protocols. Every time I touched their iPad and credit card machine they put a piece of saran wrap over it. In my opinion, it is wasteful and per science, it is rare that it spreads on the surface of items. This can easily be avoided by requiring people to use hand sanitizer before touching those items. read more

I said I wasn't going to get anymore tattoos... but here I am, getting my third and fourth. I booked my appointment a week out with Jonathan. In place of covid, Shaman enforces masks to be worn at all times and for you to text your tattoo artist before you come in. For Jonathan, he requires a $100 deposit to confirm your appointment, and charges $150/hour. Jonathan is a hoot. He is super casual, makes me laugh, and in turn, comforts my anxiety, and you need that comfort to distract you from the pain! Jonathan draws your tattoo via his iPad, and then prints it onto transfer paper. From there, he will transfer the tattoo to where you want it until it's perfect. I moved up north and have been meaning to check out this location for a while. It's really nice, clean, and in a convenient spot with parking spaces. Everything went smoothly... there were a few people ahead of me but I had a very short wait. Jade was amazing... super helpful and kind. One deep breath and the piercing was done. I love my new helix piercing! A day later, I had a question about aftercare (I was worried there was an issue) and was able to text them pictures of the healing piercing and get some advice from there. I usually don't like to write reviews, but I want to make sure people are very cautious when choosing Spadi at Shaman Modification North Austin for their tattoo artist. I got my first tattoo by him because I liked his portfolio of work. He says on his bio that he is "extremely well versed in all things tiny, black & grey and fine-line." My first tattoo was a circle, if there is anything that tests line quality it is something that appears to be simple but can actually be extremely complex just in the fact that there is no other embellishment in the design. Please find attached to this message the image of his circle he created. After e-mailing the next day about making the line weight heavier or asking what should be done as the circle does not look right (the line is jagged & filled heavier in some places). I received no message. I emailed him again absolutely no communication still. This has compelled me to share. If you are looking for someone who really cares (about you & about their work) and also has the skill to nail a fine precision in their line quality I would not recommend Spadi as a tattoo artist. read more

My daughter and I went in to get helix piercings and my daughter wanted a daith piercing and Jade advised against it because of the size and shape of that area and told us we might someone to do it but she wouldn't. If you are just looking to buy a piece of jewelry steer clear unless you plan on spending two hours. They have no knowledgeable front case help, you will have to wait for the piercer if you don't know your guage size. My nose piercing is 15 years old and my last ring stayed in for 10 years till recently lost. They enforce mask and seriously 10 feet social distances and severely limit the number of people allowed in. 3 people ahead of me in queue before I could enter lobby there was an hour.
