I met Don in 2008 when I was searching for Michelia Alba plant- one of the best plants in the world. Back then he had a lovely nursery in his backyard. I grew up in semi tropical region so I shared my knowledge about tropical plants in exchange for his experience of other plants In all of those years, Don has proved if he is not the BEST, he is One of the BEST and most fun person to work with in the plant nursery industry in great Phoenix area. Great collection, especially the plumerias. We've gotten over a dozen trees here and all are healthy/happy. The ambiance shows that the crew here doesn't just preach but actually practices treating the ground well, some permaculture, and the like. We've gotten kaffir lime, white sapote, jamun (javan plum), apricot, barbados cherry, several kinds of kumquat, red finger lime, etc here. Very happy with all of them. That said, several citrus we purchased were still staked long after needed and one's stake is embedded in the trunk (we couldn't pull it out when we planted). My understanding is that it isn't hurting the tree but still. Just an important note: they're happy to schedule a time after hours for you to come purchase trees but don't show up within an hour before close for a large order because they might not be able to accommodate without feeling squeezed. read more

I have visited and purchased from Greenlife several times in the last 3 years. This season I have visited 3 times and added 7 new trees to my food forest. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. At my recent purchase we were educated by that avocados were sensitive to wraps and tape, so we should remove the stake tape as soon as we got it situated. I highly recommend this nursery, I've purchased so many trees from here, they have a great selection of tropical and subtropical fruit trees, roses, flowering vines, plants and trees. Don, Kim and Jorge are all very knowledgeable and will give you instructions for planting and care of the tree if need be. Prices are very reasonable, if you cannot afford and larger tree (7gal), there are usually a smaller tree (3gal) available. Follow their instructions on watering, feeding, planting, overwintering and you'll have bountiful harvests for years to come! read more

We saw an ad posted on Facebook about varieties of fig trees on sale (will attach screen shot). Drove from Tucson to his nursery in Phoenix only to find that this is a classic bait and switch the pots were not 5g as advertised but only 2g. We also asked what kind of pomegranate trees were in the parking lot and no one could or would answer. So we looked for a tag and another employee asked if we needed anything again we asked what kind and he just stood there looking stupidly at us. Not to mention this facility is probably the most Un Handicapped accessible place I have ever been. No wheelchair access at all. All employees rude. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME GOING HERE. We touched the tree and looked for a tag as to which kind they were. If you have evidence you better post it because all we did was touch and look. This guy called us names and tried to ridicule us about our clothing. And said that the sticker on the window of or truck is vulgar ( it is the Pledge of Allegiance with an American Flag).This is Not the type of person to do business with. This nursery boasts of all the tropical you have never seen in your life or seen during your vacation in Hawaii or South Asia. U name the plant and they have it. We went to get some banana and mango plants but They were out. They sell plants here like hot cakes. The owner Shamus is a very knowledgeable guy with all the information on how to grow and be successful. We landed up buying mandarin orange plant and got our first produce as well. This place is worth the visit to look at the exquisite collection. It's a little pricey but if u want the quality you have to shell a little more. This place is a gem! We had a couple of people that helped us since it's a bit overwhelming when you go into the nursery. All different types of tropical and other plants that actually will grow in AZ! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful if you have an area That you want to grow something of a specific height. This nursery is a legit tropical haven in the middle of the desert. It's next door to a worm farm, and if you're serious about gardening then you know how important worms are to your garden's soil. It's a two for one stop. One of the things I definitely wanted in my garden were a few tropical fruit trees. Unfortunately some of the bigger nurseries just don't carry anything but standard fruits. I called Shamas O'Leary early in my hunt, and spoke with a woman who couldn't tell me if they delivered to my area, what it would cost and if their contact could even plant these. The lady seemed to want to get me off the phone ASAP and assured she'd text me (took down my info) the contact they have for delivery. Needless to say no text ever came. I'm a little perplexed by the great reviews. Perhaps if you drive down the service is better in person? But in my case, what's the point of driving down until I know how I'm going to get these plants to my front door? The website offers very vague info as I tried my hunt there first. I really feel Shamus O'Leary is missing the boat here.. perhaps one day I'll trek down in person, but definitely not making a special trip at this point based on the first impression. read more

They have good collection, of tropicals but expensive . Wear shoes and go cos they have sign that says venomous snakes. I did not get much help , the guy who billed me was not sure about some questions I asked . Had also sent some emails to them about plant care cos the one I bought wasn't doing well, no response .So do some research and get the plant if it's expensive. read more

This nursery is really cool, great selection, and you can see what's possible to grow in this desert with a bit of thought and mulch ha. We have made several attempts to contact the business. Like others I am impressed with their selection. We are considering a drive from Palm Springs California to this location. We are trying to buy fruit trees for my mother who is 87 years. Before I load her in a car and drive 4 hr 8 min (270.4 mi) and back again we also wanted information on shipping and stock. We have called 16 times, sent text responses with our number, and after 2 weeks we have chosen to not make the drive. Again not because the business does not offer good selections or unique trees but because of this representation of customer service. If I am not important, why should I give you my money. read more

Great place! High quality plants, friendly service. There was even someone at the entrance who greeted us and pointed us in the direction of where we were looking to go. Plants are reasonably priced for a nursery, but the quality has been top notch the couple of times we've been here. Great variety of plants versus other nurseries we've been to all throughout PHX metro. We find the YouTube channel helpful and useful. However, no staff are wearing any uniforms so it's difficult to see who works there or know where to turn with questions. The checkout lanes are also not marked so it's confusing where to go when done. Also wish the signage out front is easier to see as you're on approach to the property. read more

It's been four years since I found this heaven on earth, and I mean that from the heart, because I'm a plant addict, and I will try to grow anything in the Arizona climate given the fact that I see just about everything he sells at the nursery is planted on that property. How much more proof do you need? ask questions follow directions feed your plants and be very very patient. AWEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I wish I could post a good review - the nursery is beautiful but that's it. Today we drove all the way out there and were turned away when we got there at 12:58 because they "closed at 1." Anyone knows you ALWAYS go the extra mile to make your customers happy, especially when it's as simple as ringing up their purchase and taking their money!! We knew exactly the plants we needed and could have been in and out before 1. I am SO disappointed we wasted all the gas, an hour of driving, and came home empty handed. Shamus himself has been extremely rude and condescending to us in answering questions in the past as well. Tread carefully if you go there! Honestly I'm so upset (and we are in the industry of landscaping with tropicals in Phx), from now on I am going to warn all my clients to purchase from anywhere else if they can (these are the highest prices in town too!!). Sorry but you've lost my business - I'm going to be ordering our stock from your competitors or growing it myself from now on. In terms of trees and lushness , unreal sitting in the desert. Great variety. The staff is all helpful. I have 5 stars for all of that. I didn't know who shamus was because I'm not a nursery or you tuber (only sports) guy at all. But I did see a fan of Shamus come on in and try to say hi to shamus and he was not having it. Look some people don't like the limelight, and shamus apparently does not. So don't go there for celebrity. Just get your trees and be happy. Kim is amazing! Amazing trees all around! Very knowledgeable, great tropical selection. A bit on the high side price wise / but since he carries a lot of stuff you can't get locally it's worth it. Most of these plants need a lot of tender loving care so be prepared for it. Great for a rare fruit hobbyist who is prepared to deal with their special needs.
