Moon Valley did not sell and plant healthy yellow bells 2 years ago in my front yard. They have on 2 occasions replace some of the yellow bells. They are still ugly and look sick and have little growth in 2 years. They are watered and fertilized on a schedule and receive moon juice too. Nothing works to help them. The rose bushes I removed to make room for the yellow bells 2 years ago are starting to emerge under moon valley "inferior yellow bells" and look healthy. He helped us pick out an amazing Ficus tree and also gave me additional advice on pruning my other trees and roses while we were there. I used a whole variety of their services including pruning of a mature pecan tree, tree removal, as well as the installation of a 10-foot true date palm, a baby Canary Island (pineapple) date palm, and two weber agave plants. Not a lot of nurseries to choose from and this one is just OK. I'm still trying to get my tree properly installed. I'm sure they will make it right in the end, but not without a lot of irritation and frustration. In the meantime, I feel like I was discarded and treated poorly. Probably because I'm a woman, but I was a little blown off. "you signed it" they said so it's your responsibility to figure out why your tree wasn't planted properly???! i was told to just get some mulch and fill it in when I said, I was worried about the fact that the tree is leaning, and there are holes where the tree was planted. Really disappointing. I received a flyer about a 60% off everything sale and free planting for anything you could take home the weekend of April 25th through 27 2025. But when I got to this location I found that their prices were jacked up so high because they include the planting with a price so outrageous, that I ended up not buying anything because I didn't know how much the items on my list would cost at other nurseries. I went on a Saturday so I went home to check other nurseries prices by phone, and found that Whitfill had the lowest prices, cheaper than Home Depot, they say. To give an example a barrel cactus about 8 in in diameter is $15 at Whitfill but $69 at Moon Valley and that is the 60% reduced from $199 !!! Appalling prices. So I did go back on Sunday and told the salesman my findings. The most expensive yellow barrel cactus in that size was $27 at Berridge nursery. They were the most expensive on the other plants on my list too. Whitfill is $10 for most plants in 1 gal, and $20 for $5 gal. Moon Valley salesman said we only sell 5 gallon containers. But when he showed me what he considered 5 gallon I told him that's not 5 gallon that's at most 3 gallon but I feel like you call it 5 gallon and implied that they cheated me out of 2 gallons He just kind of respected my feelings and told me I could go elsewhere. Obviously Moon Valley wasn't the nursery for me. He said their plans have warranties but a few years ago I spent $600 including delivery, planting and an extra warranty for Hachiya persimmon tree but it died. Moon Valley could not get me another one so I had to settle for a red grapefruit substitute. That tree died too in the hot summers and that was the end of my warranty. I was out $600. I didn't even tell the salesman that story. I told him that the other nurseries were so much cheaper that even if they didn't have a warranty I could buy the same plant two and three times again for the price that Moon Valley sells it one time. Also I forgot which nursery had a Year's warranty. I did drive away with my free gallon of Moon Juice because no purchase required. Every landscaper that I got bids from told me the same words.... that Moon Valley "was like the Walmart of plants". But I don't feel like they have Walmart prices. read more

This is our second planting with moon valley and couldn't be more than impressed. 1) Niko and Lou have been our main contacts and are just outstanding people, great at communicating, and really make the tree buying experience as painless as possible. 2) Ian Witte and his team were 10/10 today--they were extremely speedy, efficient, but meticulous in making sure the tree face was in the optimal direction and the trunk was perfectly straight. They didn't make us feel bad when we asked for small adjustments and overall it was the best tree planting experience we've had. Ian was so super thoughtful in the re-routing of our waterline box and drip lines. Friendly in-person staff and great products to choose from. It's very difficult to get someone's attention, however, while you're shopping, so be prepared to be there a while. We ended up purchasing a tree and were given false information about irrigation installation. We were told that the installers would do anything they needed to do to plant the tree and have it irrigated. We had an irrigation bubbler right where the tree was going, so we assumed they would move it, but still keep it functional so we could water the tree. When the installers arrived, they told us they were not allowed to touch the irrigation, but wanted to help us out, so they moved it and capped it. This resulted in some more back and forth and additional cost for us to have a landscaper fix the irrigation. I talked to Brandon about this -- at first he had an attitude about it, but eventually it sounded like he was going to help with a resolution since we were given the wrong information, but he just never followed up. Furthermore, we later learned that they take the cheap route when planting: they don't actually dig a full hole and instead leave a mound, so the tree is planted above grade. All in all, if you're looking for something and are happy with their selection, buy it, but avoid their installers and be sure to verify anything you're told. read more
