Parking: shared lot, lots of spaces Decor: plain but very clean and nice Staff: very friendly and prompt Food: excellent, portions are large and tasty Price: low-average Overall: let's just say I will be getting a menu to go because when I want this type of food, I'm not going anywhere but here!

Moo shu vegetables and general tso chicken.
    Andrew Z.

For dinner, I was feeling American-Chinese and I ordered Moo Shu Vegetables and General Tso's Chicken to a total of $30. Both dishes come with either a side of white rice or brown rice (+$1). 1. General Tso's Chicken. Fully meets expectations. Pretty standard and tastes just as you expect from any other restaurant. It comes on a bed of broccoli. 2. Moo Shu Vegetables. Traditionally, this dish comes with a type of meat, and a mix of scrambled eggs, and slices of wood ear mushrooms, bamboo, bean sprouts, carrots, and cucumbers. Unfortunately, perhaps this could be affected by the pandemic, but all I could taste was a mix of cabbage (similar to what you would expect if you saute a Costco Salad Mix package). It does come with 4 wraps which tastes standard. Service was extremely fast and on point. It only took around 15 minutes after ordering through Uber Eats to ready-to-pick-up.

Eggplant garlic chicken with veggie fried rice. Fresh and tasty. Awesome!

Another hidden treasure found, partially due to fellow yelpers. Went for lunch recently with some co-workers and although I always knew this place existed, had just overlooked it, not knowing how great it was. It's in a small strip mall on a busy stretch of the Post Road and definitely easy to miss. The place is very small, but tastefully decorated with lovely artwork, large wood tables and high back chairs. I believe the woman up front is the owner, along with her husband. We initially were the only group eating at 1pm on a Friday although other patrons came in later on. Lunch menu is reasonable...runs from $6.50 to $7.50 for a fresh, wonderfully tasting and large meal. Regular menu is a little pricier but well worth it. The wonton soup had homemade wontons (not those pre-made ones that are probably frozen), veggies were crisp and fresh and chicken was tender and flavorful. My dish had eggplant on it which was tender and cooked just perfectly, even the skins that were left on. Lunch specials come with soup (3 types available) or a spring roll and a choice of white rice, fried rice OR brown rice (no extra charge). This is a place you can go, enjoy a quiet meal for 1 or for 5. The last thing is, is that the bathroom was clean and pristine...you can tell a lot about a restaurant by its bathroom! Hope to be back soon!

Crab Rangoon. Toooooo much oil. Yuck!

I'm not a huge fan of Asian food unless it's home cooked. We came here late on a Saturday night because my daughter insisted on non take out Asian food. I was not a happy camper after leaving New Haven where there are tons of options. I found this place on Yelp and had high hopes since there aren't many options on the way home. The wonton soup was an ok appetizer. The crab rangoons were like bowls of grease. I had to send them back. The steamed dumplings were great. For an entree, I ordered ginger chicken. It's fairly good but needs more ginger. I added mustard and jacked up the flavor completely. Don't be like me! My daughter got pad Thai. She barely finished half of it. Huge portion....not sure of the flavor but she dumped a ton of soy sauce and lemon on it. I got Pan fried noodles for my son. Definitely not what I expected but he enjoyed it. My mom got the four seasons and she was happy. The food was decent and the servers were pretty decent. Not earth shattering but pleasant. We can come again. Maybe as a take out spot

Eggplant and chicken with garlic sauce

Hidden away in a strip mall, this restaurant is a pleasant surprise. I loved the bronze-covered tables and wood chairs. We were served tea and crispy noodles by, whom I was told, was the owner. Service was good. Great Chinese food. I had the lunch special, eggplant and chicken in garlic sauce, brown rice and veggie hot and sour soup. The brown rice was hard. The eggplant more than made up for it. So good. The soup was also nice and spicy, but mild enough for anyone to like it. Good value as well.

    Great food! Boneless spareribs!

We had this for the first time recently, and the food was very good. As was the friendly customer…read moreservice (we got the food to go, so we can't speak much to the ambiance). What was not good was the notable discrepancy in price on the website versus the actual prices. So, this review is a PSA because Thai Spice really needs to rectify this immediately and get all of its sites updated. At the time of our order two weeks ago (and at the time that I am writing this review), the website https://thaispiceauthentic.com/ and the PDF menu hyperlink on that website (and the Order Now hyperlinks on the site) all reflect outdated prices. If you access the business via the https://www.yumdthaicuisine.com/ site (immediately confusing because this does not appear to be the current restaurant name, and the sign outside the restaurant says Thai Spice) or if you Google the restaurant and access the Toast site to order, you will get the current, actual prices. But these are way too many variables for a customer to reasonably navigate or to know what is accurate. We ordered the following: - Thai Sampler - We expected to pay $14.96/99 (two prices, one on the PDF and one via the Order Now link); the actual current price is an astounding $22.50 ($15 was a good deal, we thought; $22.50 is not--not for what you get) - Chicken Pad Thai - We expected to pay $13.96/99; the actual price is $14.95 - Yellow Curry - $13.96/99; actual price, $14.95 - Sticky Rice - $3.00; actual price, $4.00 A difference of over $10. Not great.

Years Later, Authenticity and Pride are still the words I would use to describe this place!!!…read more Have things changed since they first opened and post-Covid, Yes in operations, but the food remained consistently great. Their current operations could definitely use some great improvement! We arrived to a sign on the door saying reservations wete needed to dine- in. So i stood there and called. They encouraged us to get take-out but i said we were outside and was persistent on dining in. She said 5 minutes. They were already inside, but now they keep the front door locked to prevent ppl from just walking in. I think they prefer for people to order online but to me the food just wouldn't be the same taking it home. So this is real Chinese food. Not like the American stuff most people are used to, but Authentic Chinese like if you actually traveled to China. This place used to have 2 menus, 1 Chinese and 1 American "Chinese" but the woman said that they no longer Serve the American Chinese menu. It's mostly the Authentic cuisine and there were only a handful of American Chinese dishes still served. I could sense the owner's annoyance when 1 person in the group kept asking for dishes not on the menu. It was hard for this girl to understand that the Chinese food that she randomly eats isn't real Chinese food lol. I'm sure that they get a lot of that from Americans... Also note that some of the prices have changed, but the owner was upfront about it. The most accurate pricing is with their online take-out menu. I learned that with their culture, everyone typically orders a dish and then the food is served family style. So two people ordering one dish and splitting it, while not illegal it can be offensive to the culture. This time I started with the smashed cucumber salad. It was a good start definitely enough to share with the table. I tried the West lake thick soup. I had to ask what it was since there was No description, but I went for it. Don't remember exactly what's in it is but I would definitely get it again. The owner was more than happy to answer any questions about the food, the history, and their culture. We ordered a number of dishes, beef with scallions and onion, dbl fried sliced pork belly, crispy pork with sweet and sour, beef w/broccoli and potato w/ chili peppers. All were delish! It's definitely not the American version we are accustomed to. There were veggies we couldn't identify, while others used in ways new to us. The food was all very flavorful And everything is still made fresh in their kitchen. Another tip is Pleeeease don't ask for soy sauce, duck sauce, or any other condiments you are used to. They put their heart and soul in these dishes so It is very offensive. Appreciate the food as prepared, and don't try to Americanize out of habit. Taste it first, I can almost guarantee that you won't need it. Remember these are Chinese people bringing a taste of their culture to America. They don't want to be Americanized, which is why i noticed that most of their patrons are Asian. Definitely go with an open mind! Call ahead and reserve a table if you want to dine-in. Just Enjoy!
