We were a group of eight tent campers and required a site that could accommodate two large tents…read moreand had electricity. I also needed a place that could accommodate my pickup truck along with a 30 foot trailer which was hauling our boat. Upon arrival at Riverside Acres I've met John, one of the owners.  He got me signed in pretty quickly and then guided/led us directly to where our site was because it was dark. We were able to park my truck and boat right on the same site as where we were camping.  The site #49 was huge and had water and electric. The next morning we met, Pam the other owner. She was out making her rounds, cleaning the restrooms and making sure all the campers had everything they needed.  We had a very pleasant conversation and we learned that these two (John & Pam) recently purchased this Campground just a few short years ago. They are making upgrades to the property as time and budget allows.    1. They have an area for seasonal RV's and campers which is pretty well established. Many of these sites the seasonal renters have built on patio, porches, decks, screen rooms Etc.  It's a cozy little environment and the seasonal folks that I met were very kind to us transient Tent campers.  2.  The general area for RV's and tents is off to the right of the seasonal area.  Here you will find a few sites against a wall of trees toward the back of the campground that offers some seclusion/shade. Looking back towards the front of campgrounds and now to the left is the rest of the area.  These open sites run along the high ground which overlooks a HUGE open field that is well maintained. Site #49 on this side is the only site with a large pine tree.  3. Cottages!  This property also offers cottages on the front of the property along the main road.  Now, these cottages are fairly dated but the owners have done some nice things to give them an updated feel, while maintaining the originality/nostalgia value here.  For example, the cottages have antique looking Kitchenette type stoves that are probably worth some money to those who are into the classic pieces.   I know I told you we were tent camping, but we ended up staying in a cottage after a nasty storm rolled through at 2 AM and very quickly displaced us.  About the epic storm... out of nowhere in the middle of the night, the thunder and fierce lightning came in, bring with it, hail and a torrential downpour. Our tents were no match for the excessively high wind gusts which leveled our tents and allowed for a foot of water to cover the bottom of the floor within just a few short minutes. We scrambled to get ourselves and children out of the colapsed tent and into our nearby vehicle for shelter. I went back out into the storm to salvage our children's Electronics and some other necessities out of the collapsed tent. It was then I Heard a Voice calling for us to seek shelter in the main Campground building. As I looked over my shoulder in the down pouring rain and complete darkness it was then I was able to see in the crackling flashes of lightning, Pam!!!!!   Pam had ventured out in the nasty storm to make sure her guest were okay and knew where to seek shelter.  So, us and the other fellow tent campers that evening took up refuge in the game room. Pam was fantastic!  She went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed to at least be comfortable and safe for the night.  The next day it was time to clean up our site and see what we could salvage.  After the toll this storm took on our tents, canopy and everything else, we decided it best to pack it up and head out, cutting our vacation short.  Pam wouldn't hear of it.  She gave us a tour of the only open cottage she had without a renter and said we could stay there for the next two days!!!   So, that's what we did! Picked up, packed up and moved camp over the the cottage.  We were warm, dry and cozy with our own private shower!!!! It was perfect for our current situation! Then, the next day I locked my keys in my running truck.  John allowed me to go into his shop, cut some wood strips on his miter saw for wedges and loaned me an already straightened out coat hanger.  I was able to open my truck in about 2 minutes with the help of his make shift tools!  These two host/owners were awesome.  They became our friends and by the end of our stay, it didn't feel right leaving without a firm handshake and a hug!!!  We will be back to support this campground and what all it has to offer: Pros: * Fantastic people who own it * Pool for the kids * Playground for the kids * Large sites * Water and electric * Hot Showers * Right next to town (Clayton) * Public boat launch close by * Great base to go and explore the 1000 Islands * Friendly fellow campers/seasonal campers * Lots of space to keep my trailer/boat onsite. * Very reasonably priced * Clean - Owners active everyday * We had a great time

They have a nice sized playground right in front of the water/beach spot. Also, it was situated between two bathroom building! They have standing showers in stalls and also large bathrooms with a standing shower as well- which is very nice for people who need to go in with children or disabled people. They had bundles of wood on-site ($5) and ice ($2). Also, there is a little mart across the street from the state park that has little trinkets, supplies and ICE CREAM if maybe you forgot something for fire or food. ***IMPORTANT!! You are so close to Canada here PLEASE pay attention to your photo data if you're using it. We were able to pick up the Canadian lines and it sent the phone roaming for a little bit.*** It was very well kept! Each "camp" has a large enough tent site for 2 large tents, or more we had two, and then a fire pit with a mini grill over it and a picnic table. All it was missing was trash reciprocals but really what's on you and it was great. You can play volleyball usually but do to covid it's closed and so are boat rentals (typically $300). You can fish also and they have a bait shop. Highly highly recommend coming here! I don't know if it's typical but $22/night for the site is awesome.

Sites are all pull through with a level concrete pad that will accept 40"+ RVs. The site is close to a park, a dog park, and a lake which allows swimming, fishing, and kayaking/canoeing. The only con is that they do not have a lot of natural shade or mature trees around the sites which makes it very hot.

This campground has always been privately owned until this past year when it was purchased by a company who is slowly purchasing local campgrounds that are for sale. We were very nervous about this, but for this first year it has been fine, very much the same quality. The company owner has had a few "bugs" to work out but has seemed very motivated to do so and has been receptive to camper input about any concerns. We will continue our seasonal occupancy there, and expect future summers to be just as enjoyable as the previous ones.

They are located right on the lake and you can swim off of the dock. There is no lifeguard however. My family and I visit there a few times each season. I highly recommend this place. Close to Kingston, ON, Watertown, and Sackets Harbor. If you have a pet be sure to bring their rabies certificates. The campground does require them. They have a small store that sells wood and ice as well as other things. You can also rent kayaks there. They have a propane filling station in case you need it also.

There were flush toilets and showers near the site which were super convenient. The park itself is well maintained, including the beach areas. We enjoyed hiking the trails and also took advantage of the park's canoe rental. It cost $28 for a full day rental, which included two life jackets and the paddles. Will definitely be back!

The comfort stations were meticulously clean and water stations were always just a short stroll from our site. There are 2 shallow beaches that were rarely crowded during our stay. There is kayak and canoe rentals available and we took advantage of the canoe rental to go fishing in the lake. Fishing was phenomenal as almost every cast returned at leave a small sunfish, perfect for young/beginner shoreline angler like my daughter. There are plenty of hiking trails and wild life. While fishing, we spotted some water snakes, giant snapping turtles and many frogs/toads. Only downside was the amount of mosquitoes we had to fight off due to plentiful rainfall earlier in the season. We would definitely return to camp here again and next time, we'll be sure to book for a week as the 4 days just flew right on by!

Lots of stuff for the kids to do. I would recommend bringing bikes for kids because the place is very big. The sites are a little small but I have been in tighter campgrounds before. This is a place I would definitely come back to again.

The park police patrolled regularly and I never saw them have to stop and talk to someone. There was the occasional dog bark or baby crying in the night, but not as much as at other parks I have been to. The showers / restrooms are clean and comfortable. They even have a wash sink for doing dishes on the side of the building. We did not do any hiking so I can't comment on the trails. We didn't check into any park activities as we had our own agenda. Do be aware that there is no swimming area. The beach area is posted and is a stoney beach (not sandy). There is a short pier from which people were fishing. I would go back to this park again.

Facilities are not what is represented on the web site. Bubble soccer field is not enclosed. Water paddle bikes are only available on weekend and water enclosure for that is also much smaller than represented on the site. Water slide enclosure the same thing. 2. There was only one blow up castle (a climbing gym) even though the web site showed many other types. 3. The pool was closed on the Monday of a long weekend and was never opened by posted times. Posted times were pretty late as well - 10 am even on weekends. They ran out of chemical testing materials and delayed the opening another 1.5 hours one day. 4. Very few staff. They don't make any effort to make the rounds to check on things. 5. Only one garbage bin and no recycling available. 6. The playground is a tiny zip line and another slack line with rings and trapeze bar and that's it. Since the campground has come under new management the site seems to have deteriorated. Thankfully the section we were in had a family with kids the same age as ours to keep each other busy.

I was concerned over what I had read on other sites about 1000 Islands Camping Resort. After two…read moredays here that concern is gone. There were some issues that were out of the control of management brought on by an irresponsible parent but they planned other activities for the kids. I have taken my kids to quite a few campgrounds this summer and they are the best judges. Asking them if they want to come here again it was a unanimous yes. I'm sure next season the issues will be fixed and we will look forward to coming back.
