This review is for the restaurant. A superb dining experience was had by our group! You can't beat dining on their front porch with park and water views in the distance. We were seated quickly, and every employee we encountered was very kind. We shared their Clams, and I could have had these for my meal! So good! My entree choice of Roast Chicken with Herb Gremolata and maple roasted carrots was a mix of flavors that played well together and danced in my mouth. This is a review for both the hotel and the dining room. For the dining room: Deb was an excellent server. We sat outside on the wrap-around porch, which was lovely. They have a nice cocktail menu as well as dinner menu. I ordered a wonderful Caesar salad, full of cheesy goodness. For the main, I splurged and ordered a pork chop, perfectly cooked and served with mashed potatoes and snap peas. Since I was within site of the local ice cream parlor, I skipped dessert at the Inn. Dinner was a four star event. For the Hotel: I know this is historic, and knew it did not have air conditioning, which was fine. I considered this to be an "adventure" in a place we had never been "Wellesley Island". The town is lovely and a throwback in time. It is full of old summer only cottages, which appear to have been in families for years. Most are well kept and we enjoyed walking around the town, which had a Norman Rockwell vibe. The hotel is poorly maintained. Yes, it is historic, and the rooms are small (two small bedrooms with a bathroom in the middle, calling it a "suite". The windows are broken and one was held up with a wooden hanger. The other we had to improvise by putting in a chair. The shower curtain was filthy as was the shower (very tiny). On the up side, the mattress in The 3/4 bed was comfortable; the ceiling fans were able to circulate the air so there was no need for a/c; and the large porch outside our second story room was lovely, and we spent a lot of time there. There were refreshments offered as well as snacks and coffee on a table In the hallway. The dining room is open for dinner only Wednesday through Sunday, so I am not sure where you would eat on Monday and Tuesday as there is very little in this town. With a little effort, this hotel can be a wonderful place. read more

What a horrible experience. Will never return to this place -- after being here multiple times, sitting outside, for some reason now we were not allowed to sit with our dog... outside. My boyfriend grew up coming here multiple times, with the family dog. This time we checked in and the host was kindly getting out table ready and then informed us that the owner said we couldn't sit with our dog outside. That we had to tie him up outside the property. We mentioned we've been multiple times, and if we could speak to the owner that we're sitting outside at the very end table and his response was "trust me, I did and he said absolutely not" .. remind you this is OUTSIDE, not inside the restaurant. What horrible hospitality. The owner couldn't even come out himself and share why/how this had changed after years of coming. Shame on you, will not be retiring to a place like this. Mussels... the broth was awful and no crustini came with it Spinach dip... crostini's were hard Dinner rolls... terrible flavor, dry and hard Chef salad sub shrimp for the steak... GOOD Pork chop... very thin and asparagus was terrible Flat bread.. we think they used the spinach dip toast as the crust. (Not good) Cheesecake.... the crust is wet.. like mushy Time.... well it took forever. They said the bar was backed up. (Mind you 4 tables. A 14 top, 2 four tops (us and another) and a two top were all that was here when we arrived. I guess the 14 top caused a back up. Because the food was no faster. We were there 2 hours for 3 people. Again, Mason was great. And the hostess was a doll. They Handled everything with kindness and a laugh. I'm a lot older now so I rarely hang out downstairs at the pub. If you are middle aged like me...so many of you know what this pub was like 20 years ago and beyond before the folks running TI Park wanted to turn the whole place into a bureaucratic Country Club to wipe out anything they deemed noisy, fun, or....gasp...hedonistic. Not surprisingly, the pub doesn't have the longer hours nor the packed crowds anymore. It's still a charming danky basement of a place, but the history of this pub for many of us holds many memories of fun boozy nights in our wayward youth. Now TI Park is like Ward Cleaverville and family with boats with a lot of folks who have as much charm as a moldy piece of Wonder Bread. The Hotel has reopened post Covid and we tried it for the first time this season. They have just hired a new chef which I give Kudos . The ambiance is Victorian and the view from the porch is beautiful over looking the historical Victorian village, Thousand Island Park and the St. Lawrence River. The menu is not expansive but lends itself to fine dining. the presentation was excellent. The prices are reasonable. We had the seafood pasta and Caesar Salad. The seafood pasta was loaded with seafood. The wait staff service was excellent. Exciting to have the Hotel open again, will definitely return. read more

Disclaimer - this is strictly with regards to the restaurant and we did not end up eating here, but wanted to share my experience. We had reservations at 7:30 to sit outside. We showed up around 10 after 7:00 to get a drink before we were seated. Walked inside to find no sort of host/hostess and no real spot to check in. Finally got a hold of someone who looked like they may work there and ordered some drinks and checked in on our seating and if they'd come find us when it was time to be seated, etc. This person, who I presume was the manager, said that they were "really slammed" and we'd be seated when they could. Half hour passes and we go back in to check and really no definitive time table is given. While waiting we noticed service seemed exceptionally slow and there was just a general sense of chaos in everything that was going on. None of the employees looked happy to be there and everything just seemed so incredibly disorganized. Long story short, we ended up just leaving to go somewhere else and I doubt it was even noticed by anyone. I had heard that the restaurant re-opened recently so perhaps they were having a bad night, but it was truly one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a restaurant. I may be willing to give it another shot if I find myself back in the area, but this experience was quite disappointing. I will say to end on a positive note, the outdoor seating area is quite nice with views of the water and the surrounding park area. read more

My fiancé and I really enjoyed this place. It is a working hotel and restaurant with tons of history and architectural character. We had dinner which offers entrees at two price points (small plate/large) making everything on the menu affordable for all budgets. We had the Parisian gnocchi and heritage chicken which were both fantastic. Well cooked, seasoned, and thoughtfully presented. We highly recommend the food here. This place is way better than it used to be! Apparently there are new people running it this year, and the food is absolutely amazing! The mezze platter is incredible... all kinds of smoked/pickled foods. Oysters were good, chicken was good, bouillabaisse was pretty good too. Highly recommend it... This is an update to my 2019 review. As I predicted, the summer 2019 management did not return. I dined here twice in 2021. The restaurant was being run by "the corporation," which is the governing body of the Thousand Island Park community. They are doing a stellar job. Both times we ate here the experience was great. The food was excellent. They had a varied menu including some vegetarian and gluten-free options. We all liked (or loved) what we ordered. Those who had ordered the steak said it was exceptionally tender. My gluten-free fisherman's platter was outstanding -- the batter was light and crispy and not greasy at all. They had some lovely desserts. The service was terrific. We had the same server both times, and she was very friendly and knowledgeable. The night we brought the 6-year-old, she paid particular attention to his needs. Despite the fact that on one night they appeared to be short-handed, we did not have to wait long for our food. I very much hope that the same people will be running and staffing the restaurant in 2022. read more

i ordered a vodka tonic which could have used more booze. Their need for a mixologist and better beer choice is besides the main point; the food was delicious. Starting with the bread which looks dull but once you start chewing, you'll find it pops with flavor from the salty crust. Husbear and I shared appetizers: a beet salad and the spicy tuna tostada. The tuna dish was lovely with cilantro and avo and a fantastic orange sauce. The beet salad had a nice flavor too; well worth the trouble it took to cut up the big chunks of beet. After eating the nondescript salad (the greens were nice and flavorful but the tomatoes out of season, croutons hard and pieces of onion not worthy of the housemade dressing), we were given our entrees: i got the chicken and he got the pork. My chicken was moist and its accompanying risotto perfect but did not delight and surprise us the way his dish did. The pork was in a black bean, cilantro-filled bowl which had a spicy sauce that was, like I mentioned, wonderfully surprising. Creme brulee, i will see/eat you again. yum read more

The waite staff was lovely and professional. The fried calamari was melt in the mouth delicious. The bruschetta was made with fresh tomatoes and very good. They need to learn how to cook NY Strip steak, but they tried real hard and in the end it was fine. Next time I'll stick with the fish. My Aunt raved about the scallops. Bad service and terrible food. Had a Delmonico steak that wreaked like spoiled meat when it reached the table. The owner was then very rude and offered nothing. The Haddock was only fair with little taste and the vegetable was terribly over cooked. The overall experience was very unpleasant. Avoid this place!!!!!!! Additionally while one bite of the steak couldn't be eaten the owner fought about taking it off the bill. Seriously, this is about the worst I have ever seen. STAY AWAY read more

I took my Wife and Mom and Dad for dinner on Friday. The place is beautiful. We started with shrimp stuffed peppers and mussels. The mussels were good but the stuffed peppers lacked flavor. The salad was local mixed greens and was great. We were very disappointed with the seafood symphony. The shrimp, mussels and shrimp were not quality and seemed like it was just boiled and put on the plate. No flavor and poorly prepared and presented. I would skip the seafood. Now on the other hand, my Dad and I had an excellent meal. My Dad had the NY strip and it was prepared perfectly. The potato wedges were great. I had the Mayan pork and I have to say, this was a masterful meal. This dish was one of the best meals I have ever had. This is a must for anyone in the area. The pork was cooked perfectly and was very tender. The spices and presentation were exceptional. I really can't believe that the seafood and the meat dishes came out of the same kitchen. If I ever get back to TIP, I will visit again and order the Mayan pork. It's now a new standard to compare all my pork dishes to. read more

What a great meal! I can not say enough about the quality of ingredients, their expert preparation, and the artistic presentation of the meals being served at the Wellesley Hotel. This is an incredible restaurant. The fine dining menu features local fare, including fish from the St. Lawrence River, locally grown fresh vegetables, an assortment of cheeses, a nice wine and craft beer collection, etc., This chef's prepared original dishes are offered through a diverse collection of a la carte selections making this upscale restaurant affordable to those on a modest budget. Four of us managed to sample many of the choices at dinner on a recent Saturday evening and, because it was so good, went back for brunch the next day . There is a new chef and management in 2017 and its much better than last year. The Wellesley Hotel/Restaurant has been mostly terrific for the 20 years we have been visiting the Thousand Islands. We had a terrific meal on the 2nd night they were open for the 2017 season and it was even better than we hoped. My husband made reservations at the Wellesley Hotel for my birthday dinner last night. For years we had enjoyed going there for dinner but a few years ago, the chef left and we had not been back since, because we heard such negative things. Recently, w had heard from friends that there was a new chef and management and things at the Wellesley Hotel had changed. The history and ambiance of the Hotel was the same as we remembered it and brought back the good memories from years ago. Our service and the attentiveness of the server and staff was excellent and made us feel we were in a private club. The evening was perfect and i had the gnocchi and my husband had the fish fry special. The portions were generous and both meals were excellent. The carrot cake for dessert is made fresh daily and is to die for (take it from a carrot cake expert)! The ambiance of the hotel, the excellence of the food and the quality of the service made it well worth the money. There are definitely cheaper places to go on the Island but if you want an old time River experience, this is definitely the place to go. We will return, for sure. read more

Stopped in tonight with my good friend for dinner. He had been waiting to try all the Raw Bar Options. I'm not a fan of raw shellfish but I am a fan of great food nonetheless. I don't very often do reviews unless an establishment has really given me cause to do so. The few times I have it has been to rave about the absolute wonderment I have encountered somewhere. This however is not such a review. I am disappointed to report that this particular eatery is quite possibly one of the worst I have been to. It must be said that the restaurant itself is rather beautiful but unfortunately the same cannot be said for the staff. Mostly one in particular as not to be unfair our server was pleasant. We ordered our food, quite happy with our surroundings. It arrived fairly promptly, which I now realise is due to the fact that it was poorly prepared. To our parties dismay the meat provided to one of us was rancid and overwhelmed our table with it's pungent smell. Very quickly we all realised that the meat was not fit for human consumption. We politely informed our server who quickly stated she would fetch her manager, Ann. We waited patiently for the manager. She arrived at the table with immediate aggression and was quite clearly extremely agitated by our reasonable complaint, her first words being "there's nothing wrong with the meat I just ate some and it's fine". Of course we were all very taken aback with her unprofessional outburst and no offer of a solution other than she thought the meat was fine. She proceeded to huff and puff in the manor of a child. To summarise the meal it was lacklustre and vile. The manager even decided that she was not going to offer an exclusion of the cost of the meal and argued the point with little tact and mild threats of involving the authorities, on top of this behaviour she continued to self project her poor attitude onto us to such a point it was embarrassing, you could also tell her staff where highly uncomfortable with her presence. Considering this is an area consisting of such beauty and history such as Boldt castle who's intelligent, wealthy owner and designer coined the term "the customer is always right" and earned millions in the service industry it seems that this particular place has missed out on the culture surrounding it. It's sad to see such a lovely place run by someone with no respect for her customers. My advice to the manager in question, which I'm sure will be scorned upon, would be to consider a career change. Life is short and there is no place in this world for such negativity towards others. A word of warning to potential customers: Save your money and time for somewhere else. read more
