This location used to be called "Association Island RV Campgrounds KOA"; however, they have been owned by Sun Outdoors Association Island about 2 years now. We've been here a couple of times this past camping season, so this will be a combined review. Booking the reservation was easy and done online. The website states for an additional fee, you can reserve the spot; however, we didn't do this either time and got our preferred spot each time, with one of the times them being pretty heavily booked. Arrival is down a single lane road that really can only support one large camper at a time. Going the speed limit or below is a must. Check-in was easy and the staff was super friendly. The staff will guide you to the easiest route to your spot and help you back-in if necessary. The staff also recommended when they are full to top off fresh water tanks before setup if they lose water pressure. This did not happen for us, but still good to know. Parking for two vehicles - they have a rule that only 2 wheels of a 4-wheel vehicle can be touching the grass at one time. Not difficult, but when the camp was really crowded, this was a bit much to see a sea of vehicles, campers, and hardly a lot of wiggle room. They had an abundance of planned activities for kids, the staff was very nice to the kids, and our boys had fun playing outside without being told they were too loud. The swimming pool is NOT heated. You'd be better off going to nearby beaches at Westcott or Southwick. Plenty of places to fish and they allow fishing off the pier. We took the boat and they rent out slips for about $26/day which was convenient. They didn't put the slip number on the late check-in paperwork, so we had to park where ever we could and move the next day which was a pain. The slips are well protected, but the entry to the lake has shallows very close causing you to have to be extremely careful with navigating in/out. Wifi access is free, but you have to register for it, and they don't guarantee access. The restaurant on the grounds is absolutely horrible and overpriced. We had to go ask them to open the doors because they were inside and locked in. The prices were outrageous, and the pizza tasted like cardboard. There is no reason that they do not have decent cooks, open for brunch or something of the sort for the cost of the food they are charging. Some of the sites are designed for pull-in motor coaches not 5th wheels or trailers - primarily these sites that sit closer to the water's edge. There are hookups on both sides to accommodate this, but this also means the fire pits and picnic tables are at odd locations for trailers. Pricing wise - it is more on the expensive side, but not the most expensive we have stayed at. All in all - we would absolutely return again and had a very nice time.

Inside their clubhouse, need renovation. They have ping pong, small arcade.

https://www.localsyr.com/news/local-news/point-peninsula-community-fears-proposed-limestone-mine/amp…read more POINT PENINSULA, N.Y. (WWTI) -- A proposed limestone mine has left a Lake Ontario community angry and fearful. J.E. Sheehan Contracting Corp., a company out of Potsdam, has submitted a permit for a 15.2-acre limestone mine in the Village of Point Peninsula. This project proposal was submitted to the Department of Environmental Conservation. Sheehan owns a campground and restaurant in Point Peninsula. However, residents who live in the village just learned of the project in mid-December. "They will be blasting and mining, they will be pulling stone out," Year-Round Resident Laney Hastings-Taylor explained. Hastings-Taylor has lived in the village for decades and has worked to educate neighbors about the proposed mine, which would be located off Jefferson County Route 57. Many people have rallied with Hastings-Taylor to voice why the mine does not belong in Point Peninsula. "There's one road in, one road out. We didn't buy to have this kind of traffic out here. People walk the roads, they bike. A little girl across the street roller skates," Year-Round Resident Jeannie Koster shared. "You can't have that with that kind of traffic." Aside from work within the mine, the contractor has shared that the mine would increase daily traffic to a minimum of 50 large trucks. "To me, this is a resort area, not, you know, not an industrial type area for mining," Gene Taylor, Laney's husband added. Site work has already been completed on Sheehan's 92.5-acre property, which Taylor explained, has destroyed ecosystems. Point Peninsula and surrounding areas are home to migratory birds, such as snowy owls, bald eagles, ospreys and waterfowl. Taylor also owns three AirBnb's in the village as well as the only you-pick berry farm in Jefferson County. She is worried that this mine will ruin the fragile balance. "People's wells will be contaminated. The runoff from the blasting from the mining, the water is going to go right down that hill and right into the lake," she expressed. "People come and they have a magical vacation because of this lake, because it's just so beautiful. And all those things will be impacted." The DEC is hosting a public comment period on this project. Comments will be accepted through Friday, December 22. Point Peninsula is located in the town of Three Mile Bay, in Jefferson County.

Sites are level and lots of grass. Gated entry keeps people from just "cruising" through. We were here to fish. Unfortunately, the fish did not know it. Only caught two. Beth and her husband are super people and well organized. There was a chili cook off the first weekend we were here. Loved hearing the waves from the lake. When we were not fishing we explored Pulaski, Oswego and a lot of the surrounding areas. Absolutely beautiful country. If you plan to visit be sure to call ahead and make reservations as spaces are limited.

I'm sorry for such a long post but I promise it will be worth the read. For 6 months we have said…read morenothing to keep the peace. But our time has come. Last September Jim and I were victims at the hands of Rich and Bethanne Brennan. They are the owners of Ontario Shores campground 348 Rainbow Shores Rd in Pulaski NY. We had gone on vacation to Washington State to visit our son and during that time Rich Brennan took it upon himself to turn on our main water hook up and proceeded to wash his hands at our campsite. The problem is that when he turned on the water he also turned on our toilet flush system and never shut it off. That filled our black water tank and flooded our camper from one end to the other with septic water thus totaling our camper. Water was literally pouring out of the bottom of our camper and within days black mold started to form making the camper unusable! At the time they acknowledge what they had done and turned it into their insurance company. The problem is their insurance company only offered to clean the camper not repair it. $2800 vs the $20,000+ to repair/replace it. That's where everything turned ugly. At that point Rich and Bethanne said too bad...that's what they offered. We're not paying a penny more. At that point communication of any kind on their part ceased. For months we tried to communicate with them to come to a reasonable agreement for both of us. And each time I reached out we received no response. Finally in December they said they were advised to not speak to us directly and we must communicate through their attorney and we should hire one to do so. So we hired an attorney to do just that. Neither the Brennans nor the insurance company attorney would respond to our lawyer as well. So weighing our options with our attorney which were sue the Brennans, sue the insurance company or sue both we opted to eat the loss and turn it into our own insurance company. We had options and our lawyer assured us would have won! Unfortunately legal fees would have been astronomical and our lawyer advised us to pursue a settlement with our own insurance and take the loss. Another reason we chose to go in that direction and not sue them also is because we still wanted to camp at Ontario Shores. We love it there and all of our camp families are there for the summer. It was our summer home! I failed to mention that in November I reached out to Beth and asked specifically if we would be welcome back in the spring. Mind you...we have done nothing but I felt the need to ask. She said "of course you are". With that we went out and bought another camper with the anticipation of returning in the spring. We had zero idea what was to come! Fast forward to March of this year. We receive a certified letter in the mail out of the blue stating we are no longer welcome at Ontario Shores for the 2022 season despite having a signed contract and having paid a deposit for the year. Come get your stuff off your site by April 25th and nothing more. No reason. Thus victimizing us once again. I asked Beth why they had made this decision and she stated that "they felt threatened when we retained and attorney!" But they're the ones who told us to get one! You can imagine our confusion and upset! And this isn't their first rodeo. I know 2 other families that were kicked out for no reason they are aware of because no reason was given. They were great neighbors and nice families. The Brennans do this stuff randomly and without remorse. This past weekend we went to our former campsite and got all of our items off of our site. When Jim requested the return of our deposit Rich was rude and disrespectful and told Jim that "we tried to shake them down for tens of thousands of dollars!" This couldn't be further from the truth! The facts are we took what we got from our insurance company and paid the rest out of our pocket. The only thing we were hoping to get from the Brennans is maybe a free season or two of camping since they were the ones who destroyed our camper. But we were willing to settle for absolutely nothing. Returning to our summer camping life was that important to us. In fact our lawyer reached out to them as recent as last week to assure them we would not sue and we would sign a legal document stating so if we were allowed to return. Nothing would change their mind. To date this terrible injustice has cost them NOTHING financially and they've actually convinced themselves that they did nothing wrong. The funny thing is we weren't going to sue them! But we are now! Emotionally we are broken! And our poor Livvy is absolutely devastated. She has so many friends there and she loves spending time with her Namma and Papa. This affects so many people and they could care less. But there is nothing we can do to change the outcome. All we can do is hope to save the next person from a Brennan injustice. Because if you think this can't happen to you...YOU'RE WRONG!!!

We found the paved trail around the entire grounds lovely for a walk, and noted it would make travel for those in wheelchairs easy access to the entire camp ground. Our site had a nice composite picnic table, fire pit and a packed gravel bed even site. As others have posted, yes it can be buggy but it's to be expected while camping waterside-and these are not biting bugs just slightly annoying. An employee suggested using a qtip to put essential oils around the screens of our rv-which absolutely deterred the bugs. Would recommend without hesitation.

Dog run is overgrown, a bit flooded and very buggy so we didn't bring the dogs down there it's also very small. Maybe 20 x30. Park staff is very nice and camp store is well equipped. We reserved a lake front pull through site on Sunset side.. site is great; they are very close together but we are on lake and it's beautiful. We have to walk around to actually see the sunset though because we are on the south side of peninsula and the other campers block the view.. We will definitely come back... for the location.
