I had the pleasure of spending 3 days and 3 nights at this wonderful resort! The residents and guests were amazing. The staff was incredible. It was all I expected it to be and more. As a single man at a clothing optional Resort you must work very hard to not look like a creeper. Lol! Everyone was so inviting. I cannot count the amount of philosophical conversations had while soaking in the hot tub. I even joked with a guest that the check was in the mail for his therapy session. It was quite the experience. The grounds are well maintained. This RV spots are mostly level. Power is good, water pressure is good, Wi-Fi sucks! But more on that in a second. I was originally going to stay only one night and had such a wonderful time meeting the great residence and guests here that I extended for two more nights. This is a great place to have your first clothing optional experience. I will say this in earnest this is NOT a swingers club!! Now, does this stuff go on? Of course it does it's naked people. However, it must be done in the privacy of your own accommodations! Sexual activity is NOT tolerated within public areas! Now, for the drawbacks: if you have T-Mobile you will have little to no service unless you climb to the top of the nature trail by the memorial then you will have 5G service. Otherwise forget it. My biggest complaint is the wi-fi. They have Wi-Fi however, it is horrible and unpredictable. My suggestion if you have T-Mobile and you rely on the internet. Think about investing in a starlink system. I did not have an opportunity to check out the food at the bear buns Cafe but I have heard nothing bad about it. In fact, the residents Rave about the food. All in all this was a great day and I hope to make it back there soon! My husband and I took a little trip to visit this place and another on the way. The office was very nice and welcoming, the pools were really nice and clean, the outdoor pool was warmed up really nice. My only complaint is the dry camping area is very small. Im glad we found a good spot. The amenities for the dry camping was blocked with RVs. So to shower and use the restroom we're walking through someone's campsite. This is an amazing place. I've been a member since 1998. The owners have made vast improvements over that period of time. Improvements for too many to mention so let's start with the amenities. There are two swimming pools one of which is heated in the winter. The heated one is used for water aerobics and volleyball. Both are surrounded by nice sunning decks. The lounge chairs are well maintained and the area is kept very clean. Music is in the background all day long. It is not however intrusive. There's a nice shaded area as well as some trees that provide shade for those who don't want to be out in the sun all day but want to enjoy poolside. Right next to the large pool is a building with a couple of pool tables in it. Again they are well maintained and you can always find a pickup game during the day. There's a hot tub it can hold about 10 or 12 people and maybe more if you are feeling neighborly. The clubhouse is maintained as a social Center as well as for karaoke on Friday night and dances on Saturday night. Occasionally there's a vendor in there selling odds and ends. The Bare Buns Cafe is open Friday evening and on the weekend through lunch. The food is simple but well prepared. It is also not very expensive. Throughout the grounds there are hiking trails that range from flat and easy to slide elevations. It is a wonderful way to view the Sonoran Desert. There is ample parking all around the main pool area. Massages By Appointment are provided by a third party vendor. The owners continue to upgrade things and have plans for the future. I have found the people here to be quite friendly and very laid back. It is a great place to Simply relax, read a book or if you over mind strike up a conversation with somebody by the pool. There are no alcohol sales on the property however responsible drinking is allowed. Please remember that this is a family-oriented place. Sexual activity in public is strictly prohibited. There are camping sites for RVs however the sites for tent camping are limited. During the winter reservations can be very limited because of the large number of snowbirds. During the summer weekends are very festive with lots of entertainment and special events. A nudist resort may not be for everybody but whether you are a veteran of this community or someone just interested in investigating it this is the place to go. read more

I had seen other reviews mentioning the lack of young people. As 25 year old guy I went into it with that understanding. But what the reviews I had seen didn't mention, is why there are so few young people. Here are my thoughts: When I got there it was $12 entry for the day & dry camp. After the first visit it ends up $32/day. For the first day, I felt this was worth it. It has basically all the things you could need: showers, laundry, a spot to park your car, bathrooms, etc. and plus you don't have to wear those pesky clothes. But then I woke up the next morning and it was painfully obvious why there were so few young people. I woke up hungry and I was like "Ok where can I get some food?" Hmm the cafe is closed the entire week. I could pull out my stove and start cooking next to the three cars that are immediately next to me. The camping situation is basically a very small parking lot - there's no dedicated parking separation like you would with a traditional campsite. Then I decided to find the wifi. Walked to the clubhouse and the wifi was basically non-existent - slower than a snail. To answer the question of why there are so few young people: It's because the owners have made no attempt to attract young people: 1. They need better price discrimination. I.e a millennial discount. At the price of $900/month I could rent an apartment in the city. 2. They also need dedicated camping spots/more camping space. 3. They need better wifi. Giving giving an average rating because of the friendly people, nudism, but lack of required amenities. read more

I remember my first experience at a clothing optional resort like it was yesterday. I was a bit nervous at first, but I was determined to take the plunge and try something new. When I arrived at Shangri La Ranch in New River, Arizona, I was amazed at how comfortable the atmosphere was. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I spent the day soaking up the sun near the pool and taking a hike through the nearby walking trails. The weather was perfect for mid February and I enjoyed every minute of it. I had been naked around loved ones before, but never have been in a setting like this. Being able to be free of clothing and inhibitions felt so liberating and I was determined to return as soon as I could. I've been back to the resort many times since then and each time I visit I feel more and more comfortable. I'm so grateful to have discovered such an amazing place and to have been able to experience the freedom of being naked in a safe and welcoming environment. read more

This resort in New River Arizona is an amazing " get away" The amenities are perfect, and most importantly, it's all about the residents and guests. So welcoming. Ive enjoyed playing pickleball in the morning, then a dip in the pool to relax. The jacuzzi is very large and will take care of those sore muscles, whether from running around on the pickle ball court or working out in the gym. (Fully furnished) Hungry? The Bare Buns Cafe will serve up a great meal..at a great price. After heading back to the room for some inside R&R, the clubhouse has karaoke EVERY Friday night and their dance party EVERY Saturday night. The sound system and lighting would rival any New York club. If you're into volleyball, we have found that there's always some people hanging around for a couple matches. Yes, I would HIGHLY recommend Shangri-la Ranch for a day, overnight, weekend, or a longer term stay. You won't regret it. read more

It's hot as hell! We got here during a heat streak in July! The pools are both very nice. One is closed today for cleaning and sanitizing (that's a good thing). The spa is nice, fits 6 or 8 ppl easily, not too hot. The steam room and sauna are closed for the season(?). We're here during the week, so we talked to mostly (but not exclusively) residents. Very friendly and welcoming! Have not gone on any of the walking trails that go around the property yet. It's too hot during the day. We might do some this evening or tomorrow morning. The cafe is only open on the weekends so I can't review it. I simply love laying around by the pool or being in the pool and gazing at the scenery! All-in-all, we had a great time! A relaxing place with a fine cafe. My roommate and I visited the Ranch for the day this last Saturday. It was crowded due to an AANR Regional Convention yet we still found a few lounge chairs available by the swimming pools. We had lunch at their Bare Buns Cafe and then enjoyed the free ice cream mid-day courtesy of AANR. But before returning home we had to have dinner at the cafe and as usual the cooks had prepared a superb meal. Both of us had the garlic butter shrimp spaghetti with a white mushroom sauce. Fantastic!! Then the desert was another of their superb creations- A moist yellow cake with fine crushed Mandarin Orange and a crushed pineapple white frosting. We visit Shangri La several times a year since it is only 39 miles from my home and each time we leave relaxed and full from a fine meal. read more

We as a family have stayed there. One of the times wa stayed was memorial weekend. We all enjoyed it especially our kids. The staff made sure that the kids had lots of fun with all the games they put together. I got to enjoy speaking with Horse with a cup of coffee.(owner).The wife and I enjoyed the memorial parade the kids got to be part of the parade. The one star is for the people that were there for genuine family friendly intentions. I had quite an experience here for my first time at a clothing optional community, especially as a non-binary identifying person. Most people were very friendly and respectful, I did encounter one RESIDENT that was clearly not there for the appropriate reasons and did and said many things that were highly suggestive of non-wholesome intentions... and I suggest that the residents and the management team should EACH go through frequent reevaluation's every so often to be sure that everyone is there for the right reasons, and that the policy of wholesomeness is being upheld to the fullest. I will also mention that I did notice that the atmosphere was mainly older males as well which is sort of questionable especially after my encounter with an older male resident. This has been a traumatic experience for my first time at clothing optional resort, I am writing this review to make sure that my experience was not in vain, and that others are atleast aware before they go here, management wasnt "able" to do anything about the situation, and neither was AANR so all I can do is write this review. read more

This place is living in the long ago distant past. They're running 1950's amenities with 2020's prices. Looks like an old depression-era trailer camp. Activities are very limited. Meal are limited as well, so plan on eating off-site much of the time. Has had many owners, but none seem to want to spend any money upgrading anything. I have been here on many occasions. There is always something to do , there is usually water volleyball at some point,and I especially come on weekends where there are special events. There is a hot tub and 2 pools, hiking trails, plus a variety of different options if you want to stay overnight. The food at the cafe is good and worth what you pay for it. The downside is the same as in many such places, that is not enough of appeal to younger members. Most of the activities. Now there are some certainly, like the 5k run that attracts a bit younger crowd. read more

I visited Shangri La Ranch for a couple of day visits when on business in the area last February. I enjoyed the days visits and would definitely come back. I did also visit Mira Vista Resort in Tucson and generally prefer that venue. Shangri La is nice and has all of the necessary amenities - multiple pools, restaurant, spa, restaurant. Overall very nice. Not as upscale as Mira Vista. I didn't find the hiking trails on my visit, but I did get a chance to walk the property several times. I will have to return to see if I can find the hiking trails. A funny thing happened while I was there. I locked the keys to my rental car in the car and had to have AAA come and unlock the door for me. Very interesting getting a AAA road service guy to come and rescue you at a nudist resort. I'm sure he got a good laugh out of it. I sure did. read more

We had a wonderful short visit at the Ranch. We came in after office hours and Patty was nice enough to open up for us and give us the key to our room. Then in the morning, we left before they opened. Patty just had us leave the key and then I called her later on to pay over the phone. Our little room was clean and quaint. My wife and I went to the ranch for the first time during a festival they were having. Lots of people and lots of fun events. Checked off a bucket list item by running in a 5k race in the nude through the desert and hiking trails around the property. That was an adventure. All the people in the office were great. The entire staff at the ranch was very friendly and well organized. The property was well maintained with lots of desert vegetation around. We stayed in cabin 21 which was huge. It had a large living room and kitchen and a king bed in the bedroom. The couch in the living room also makes into a bed. The place was very clean. (see picture). The 2 pools were very nice with at the very least 50 to 75 lounge chairs arranged around the pools. There is plenty of shade as well as open areas around the pools. The ranch is very private and secluded. This is an AANR approved nude recreation club that has wholesome non sexual activities. read more

I was there on holiday. The place is BRILLIANT! The staff were highly professional and lovely. I wish I could give it 100 stars. My first time at an AANR.com, (American Association Nudist Recreation) in Arizona. I will attend there again. 2 pools, a spa, sauna, weekend Cafe, (Bare Buns Cafe), with limited hours, so bring extra food/drinks. Cafe staff were friendly. Comfortable rooms/ RV's 7 Cabins for rental hire WiFi is a tad limited in strength. I recommend w/o hesitation. I have been here a dozen times or so. I enjoy coming here when I want to unwind and relax. I find the facility very peaceful. When there is something going on like pool volleyball everyone is laughing and having a good time and super friendly. Many people say hi to one another. I think it's because no one has inhibitions here. There's plenty to do from the pools to the hiking trails, pool table, cafe, courts, etc. the front desk staff has always been welcoming to me too. They want to help. If I have anything bad to say it's that I'm usually there on the weekends and the cafe has only been open for a couple of my visits. I plan on heading here tomorrow to de-stress and get in the pool. I hope the masseuse is available. I have never stayed the night as I live nearby but it's a cheap rate for a day here and my first visit was free. read more

My wife and I visited while on a trip through arizona in april we rented room 9 for one night Cindy in the office is Awesome very friendly and accommodating she even came over to us at the dance that night to check on us and see how we were liking the ranch. The room was clean but the carpet could use replacement it has a mini fridge and micro wave. the staff at the Bare Buns cafe are very friendly and serve a good breakfast they weren't open for lunch on easter since the Ranch was having a easter pot luck. the pools are spakling clean and the locals are very nice and welcoming. If your looking for a clothing option place to visit you should make the trip they also offer AANR and first time visitor discounts. we really enjoyed our stay read more

I have stayed at this ranch multiple times in order for me to give it a fair review The office staff is very helpful and make the place seems very inviting unfortunately however my impression it's rather dumpy looking I haven't seen many changes in the last three years the units that I have stayed in were very rundown dated and rather pungent nor does it offer that many things to do most of the residence fairly friendly which is a plus and apparently water volleyball is the big thing to do all in all it's been a all right place but I will say I have experienced cleaner nicer types of ranchs and resorts Sorry punctuation is not my thing read more

I had a chance to make a day visit while on vacation in the area. June is their slow season so I had a good chance to explore the property. Bigger than I expected with a pair on nice nature trails. The facilities are first rate with two excellent pools. The property is well maintained. They have many permanent site users, so a walk around the park is a real treat to see how the properties are adorned. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. A summer visit would be a great opportunity to try out a nudist venue for a first timer. They offer a free first visit. read more
