I have been a loyal customer for the last 6 years, always making payments on time and recommending Shannon Motors to friends and family. I have gotten my last 2 cars from here and had little to no issues (I understand the cars are used) but since financing my last car from them ONLY 3.5 months ago, it has a cracked cylinder head and I am being told the engine needs to be totally replaced. When I called Shannon, I was told they could not do anything for me considering it was over the 30 day warranty. There is no way this issue occurred from me considering I've only driven a few thousand miles on it and got it at the end of January 2026. I was told that the bank gave me an extended warranty that had total coverage if anything were to go wrong in the first 24 months/24,000 miles (whichever came first). I am now being told that it's not covered by the extended warranty. I am now stuck making monthly payments on an unsafe car that Shannon has sold me. Garages are telling me the repair will cost anywhere from $3,000-$7,000. Beware when getting a car from here. They have lost my business and any good word of mouth I would have passed along for them. read more

Absolutely disgusting the way they run this business. I got a 2015 Honda Accord Sport TWO months ago. First of all the car is valued at $12,000 with 143,000 miles why I have to pay $21,000 is beyond me. As soon as I got it I had to spend $600 to get it fixed they credit me a month of no car payments. Cool. A month later my alternator goes. Another few hundred I have to spend. And I know I won't get accommodated for that because of their fantastic 30 day warranty. Do not go here they sell lemons. TERRIBLE experience. Costumer service is awful and mechanics are a joke. They do not care about their customers. We leased a Honda Pilot with them and within the first month it was breaking down. They couldn't get their mechanics to look at the vehicle for over 2 weeks so we got it towed and sent it to a local mechanic where he found a tracker on the vehicle that was completely draining the battery. We removed it and the issues continued to happen and got worse. That tracker essentially messed up all the wiring on the vehicle. It breaks down constantly. We had to get it towed there after the fifth time of it breaking down for them to look at it and they said nothing was wrong with it. Drove it home and within 20 minutes the battery light was flashing and the car was seizing. I have 2 young children and refuse to drive them in it. I talked to them time and time again and there is nothing that they will do and want us to pay the remainder of the balance in order to terminate the lease. If you are thinking of buying or leasing a vehicle from here, RUN. Do not give them any of your money. They are jokes and scam artists. Absolutely disgusting and no respect for anyone. read more

I had a decent experience with Shannon on one vehicle. After paying it off and being told of all the fees and such that had to be paid, I decided to see if there was anything interesting on the lot. I found an SUV model that I always liked and thought it was a great thing. The dealer Eddie, was actually in the process of trying to sell me another vehicle, when I pointed out the one I was interested in. His pivot was lightening quick and when the process was completed and while you are feeling great about your purchase, he asks you to write a review, then and there! Of course the review will be good. A day or so late, I notice the car making a strange whirring/grinding noise on right turns (that was not present during test drive), but I ignore it for another few days, since the car still drove well. I finally take the car to their repair people, tell them what's wrong, they take it for a drive and then call and say they found nothing. I convince them to check again, and they call back, say they found something and it would cost $1100! I reminded them that the car was still under the lemon law warrant and the fix it, no charge. Remember, they initially said nothing was wrong. Next, I noticed that the car was using lots of gas. By the third week, the car was dead. I called AAA, they gave me a jump. Two days later, the car is dead again. Another AAA call, where they told me that my battery was old and I needed a new one. After a third AAA call, I call Shannon, my warranty had just expired but they were willing to sell me a refurbished battery for $80 or a new one for $125. Not wanting to do anymore business with them again, I resign myself to being stuck with this car and get a brand new battery elsewhere. Two weeks later, the car dies again. Long story short, after four additional AAA calls, and then purchasing a personal car jump thing, since I used up my quota of free AAA calls, I took the car back to repair who "found" the problem and it would cost $1700 or more to fix it. I tried to get a lease buyout for another car elsewhere and they were willing until I mentioned Shannon. They literally swore and said "You have no idea how many people we get who were screwed over by that place! I don't know how those crooked S.O.B's are allowed to stay in business!" They said I was so "underwater" with Shannon's lease, that they did not want anything to do with the car. After that, I told Shannon to take their car back. I'll take the credit hit! NEVER AGAIN! Rhode Island inspection statue, which reads as Per Rhode Island DMV vehicles purchased from a licensed dealership are required by law to have a new inspection sticker at time of sale, this inspection can be no more than 90 days prior to the date of sale and vehicle can not have accumulated more than 500 miles from the mileage at the time of inspection. The Rhode island DMV Does not say the inspection has to be done by the leaseor, in this case Shannon motors, ( because they have no clue what they are talking about) I have made it my personal mission to make sure everyone knows how disgusting the people at Shannon motors are... If you read your actual mission statement, it's all false, not one employee at Shannon motors should be fired, you have no customer service. don't let Shannon motors trick you, they have no clue how to handle anything, they openly mock and instigate you when you call them, I hope they all loose their jobs, because none of them are professionals Shannon motors is the worst place to lease to own, if you go there bring a mechanic with you, have them do a complete inspection and make them fix everything wrong with it, withing the first 7 days, or you will be out a lot of money, read the contract, bring someone who understands law, and can go over it with you, be fore signing your lease, because they will not fix anything wrong with the car after their limited warranty which is 60 days, even if it's wear & tear they will not fix it, the lease you sign absolves them from responsibility, leaving you with the bill, if you can go anywhere else, there are plenty of places, once we finish off the lease of this car, and buy it out, we will never buy from Shannon motors again, they give you the wrong information, they are rude, and do not read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! 2 JUNK CARS WITHIN 4 DAYS! Let me start with the salesman, EDDIE. You can't miss him, constantly has AirPods in his head and walks like he has a stick up his ass. 50 but he thinks he's 25. No customer service skills whatsoever. He likes to push the most junky cars on you first without offering you anything else to look at unless you ask. I test drove ONE car and he was ready for me to sign some papers, fucking relax. If you're gonna be a salesman at least be good at swaying people and building up a rapport. He also told me my trade in was junk without even looking under the hood or driving it & he clearly doesn't know shit about cars so who is he to tell me that. Anyway, I ended up leaving with a 2011 Honda Accord, test drove it on highway and in the city, everything was great. 5 minutes after signing and leaving, the engine started to shit the bed so I turned right back around. That should've been my sign right there I will admit that. They ended putting me in a 2013 Kia Optima, 62,000 miles, drove beautifully, sounded great, so that's what I left with. FOUR DAYS LATER the ENGINE COMPLETELY DIES in the middle of the road, extremely dangerous, I had it towed back immediately. Once I got to the dealership the next morning, EDDIE was sitting on his ass, had no concern whatsoever about the car and made ME call their garage to have it situated. I was then informed by EDDIE that they WILL NOT be providing me a courtesy car to get to and from, that I would have to go to Kia for that because the engine is a known "Kia problem". SO EDDIE KNEW ABOUT THE ENGINE BEFORE THE SALE. His excuse "oh no we JUST had a meeting about Kia's." Yeah, sure you had a fucking meeting the day after you sold me the car, fucking idiot. Also I was way overcharged for both the Kia and Honda but I will take the blame for that. After looking for car #3 (I know, I know ) I was completely uncomfortable with him, the business, just the whole situation. There was a man inside who seemed to be above EDDIE, shorter, younger white man, who wouldn't even acknowledge me, apologize for the inconvenience, nothing. Too busy sipping on his boba tea and gossiping. After showing me several other pieces of shit, EDDIE eventually got upset with me because they "are bending over backwards for me" and I'm still not satisfied. How could I be satisfied?? You're damn right you're bending over backwards you put me in two extremely dangerous situations. If I could rate this establishment 0 stars I would!!!! My boyfriend and I were interested in purchasing another vehicle and I stumbled upon this place online. Due to their multiple locations I made the assumption that Shannon Motors must be a reputable and professional company. Ha! Upon walking into the building on Tuesday, August 6th at around 11AM, I was instructed to step into the office on the left and that the gentleman in their would assist me. As I entered the gentleman's office I immediately felt like I was a bother to him. I briefly began explaining my situation to him (he was a very tan, guido-looking man with a severely noticeable Johnston accident) before being rudely interrupted. He refused to even entertain my inquiry because my boyfriend was not present since we are both deciding on the car. I then explained to him that my boyfriend owns a Landscaping business and his working during their hours of operation; hence, why I was there looking at cars! I asked him if he could show me a few of the cars I found on the website and he said "NO"!!!!! He told me to come back with my boyfriend because there is no point in showing me anything without him there. I was absolutely APPALLED and felt so discouraged leaving Shannon Motors. I took my business to Hurd Auto Mall and purchased a $17,000 vehicle later that day. As a local small business owner I would never write a negative Yelp review unless it was truly deserved nor would I ever want this man working for me. When it came time to purchase her dream car, she opted to pay the sales tax and NOT finance it. She bought her car and was very happy with it, so when she came back the following week with the $1400 sales tax, she was turned away, saying it had been rolled into the financing. She then paid the registration fee for the new plates. The next week, no plates. The week after she gets a call from YOU saying she owes the $1400! Understandably distraught she calls her Dad, me. I talk to you and assure you that she will pay the amount in increments, but she needs her plates (which haven't come in yet). Today she visits your shop to get the plates, and she is told that she owes 1/2 of the tax or she doesn't get her plates, (which are registered to HER and HER property). Held hostage. Glad to see the Warwick location closed abruptly. Bought a car a year and a half ago, spent 4 hours waiting for paperwork but I was desperate as my car had died that day and I needed a new one fast for a long commute job, yadda yadda yadda. Was promised: 1. An extra key (they didn't have but they would order one) 2. A fix for a whirring sound that everyone agreed was probably bearings. The fact that they kept calling them barrons and even wrote "barrons" worried me. I made my appointment in Johnston (the only service center) and they checked the brakes as well and supposedly fixed those, but the parts for the bearings had to be ordered. Got a phone call a couple weeks later and they left a message that was absolutely indecipherable... I called back and was put on hold then never connected. Never got the bearings fixed. 3. When I went for the "barrons", I asked about the extra key that was supposedly ordered. The office had no idea what I was talking about, looked through the paperwork and couldn't find anything, even though there was a note about the key. 4. A few months later when I needed the extra key, I called Warwick, to be transferred to Johnston, who said they had no idea and I'd have to talk to Warwick. I was told "I don't know what to tell you"... 5. Oh, and within 3 days of buying the car I got a ton of emails and phone messages from Jay to PLEASE PLEASE leave a good review for us, Google, or Yelp.... Hmmmmmmmm.... Never again. I told her how when I picked up my car , I spent 800$ for electrical issues and default for ABS LIGHTS for a car I had for one month. I fixed breaks and changed tires after my second month. This is only getting a star because it doesn't give the option for 0 stars. My experience with buying my car was great, so we came back to get my husband's car. We went back to Paul who was awesome, however, the rest of the experience could be dramatically improved if the people we dealt with had half a brain, combined. For starters, the person writing up the financials, left out paperwork that needed signing AND had the wrong address for the bank, so we had to come back to sign (and resign) due to his incompetence. Now, on top of that, my husband had been there 2 more times perviously, where we could have signed, but since there is no communication at this place, that never happened. We both went down a week before his temp plates expired, got the correct paperwork dealt with and made clear that the temp plates were expiring TODAY. So today, around 5pm, I made my husband call yet again because there was no call that his plates were ready. As it was just a transfer of plates, it shouldn't have taken this long. He's now on his way there to pick up his plates, without registration, because since we have the bill of sale he can legally us his plates for 10 more days without the registration, apparently, but that's according to the barrel of monkeys that work there, so if that's valid or not, I have no idea. Save yourself the aggravation. If you know you'll get approved for a bank loan, don't buy a car there. The people who write up the financials for your bank loan (at least this one, my bank loan was handled smoothly) as well as the people in the administration building are incompetent at best. There is one girl who answers the phone who is rude to boot. Buying a car is stressful. Do yourself a favor and don't make it worse by getting it here. I will never buy a car here again. However, if the seller we had intends to move to another dealership, we would still buy from him. This place, though, never again. read more

Seemingly good sales people. How ever, on the business end, this Company is atrocious. When I went to make my first payment, I wasn't in the system. Four weeks later I am still not in their system. Two of my payments have been lost and I have had to drive back and provide proof for this company. I paid for the DMV registration and was told by them that they owed me a balance. Yet every time I try to collect the balance, their accountant isn't in or there is some other excuse. read more

This is both negative in a way but it's also positive. So let me start by my experience walking through the door. I walk in and I'm instantly greeted by eddy over at the Johnston location. We sit down and talk about the different selections for my certain case (I can't afford full coverage insurance at 20 years old with a couple tickets), so we find one. It's a 2010 Toyota Corolla. Very nice exterior, not too bad interior wise, but for that first ride home in the new car there were no issues. Come to find out there's actually a few issues. 1. My brakes squeak really loudly, and 2 the car practically wants to stall every time I come to a stop with the air conditioning running or even just pressing the window up or down button and 3 my spare donut tire is popped. So when I go to pay my first weeks payment I talk to the service department about all of it and they say "we will look for stuff" no they don't. I also got a call from my insurance company. Now mind you I'm 20 years old couple tickets and I've never had a vehicle in my name before. So I get this call and they are telling my I'm going to be canceled after paying this huge down payment to them I'm worried. So come to find out eddy was not legally allowed to set up my insurance quote. Im sure he knew that. Just wanted to make the sale. So now I've got everything figured out and I'm paying more money because he didn't even ask me if I've had any tickets. He just clicked the "no" button.
