A while back, I had a bad fall where I landed face-first with my hand and wrist trapped underneath me. The swelling and inflammation were severe, and my doctor told me it would take at least six months to heal with ongoing physical therapy. After just one session with Dr. Portia, most of the swelling and pain were almost gone, and within one week of treatment, my wrist was fully healed. I completed three sessions with her to ensure everything was completely resolved, and the recovery was incredible. More recently, I injured my arm during Pilates when I slipped and twisted it underneath me. I could barely lift my arm, and my doctor advised months of ibuprofen and physical therapy, possibly followed by acupuncture later. Instead, I went straight to Dr. Portia (even though it wasn't covered by my insurance), because I trust her completely. After the first session, I was already able to lift my arm again, and within one week, my arm was essentially fully healed. After three sessions, I was about 99% recovered. Absolutely would not recommend the clinic. I found Portia Clinic through the Aetna portal - my…read moreinsurance. This is an in network provider. I had one treatment with Portia in April. The man ( Charles) at the front desk indicated that my insurance (Aetna) is out of network. He charged $200 and told me that he will reimburse me later for the amount Aetna reimburses the clinic after filing a claim. I had to do a three way calling with Charles and Aetna to confirm Portia clinic is in network and should only charge $50 copay. With the Aetna agent on the phone, Charles admitted that Portia clinic is in network with Aetna. Worse yet, Portia used infrared heat lamp during the treatment. I told her I had the burning sensation during the treatment, but she said this was because the treatment was being effective. After I went home, I saw the burn and sent the picture of my burn to my primary doctor for help. My doctor told me this is a superficial burn. I had the burning sensation all night long after the treatment. When I mentioned the burn to Portia, she said it was normal to have some burn after an acupuncture treatment. I had to explain that my doctor confirmed it was the first degree burn and it was due to intense heat coming from the infrared heat lamp. The clinic also charged $20 for some Chinese medicine. I checked the expiration date and it was going to expire in 4 days. When I mentioned the imminent expiration date to Portia, she said I could take the medicine in 4 days and offered to reimburse $10 for the soon-to-expire medicine. Charles was quite arrogant and unapologetic for giving me the medicine that was about to expire and wanted to take an advantage of a new patient like me who he thought was not familiar with the in network / out of network treatment charges. Portia eventually apologized for the medical negligence and the overcharging fees. They refunded $200 back to me. But I have a burn scar on my stomach.
