This place has contaminated air. It smells like chemicals which really burns your nose, and that makes it very difficult to train. When you're breathing heavy and all these chemical smells get into your lungs, it is very counter productive to fitness. Also, they use a lot of strong chemicals to clean. So you have the combination of severe different chemicals negatively affecting your body. Very bad ventilation as well. No fresh air. What's the point of trying to work on your body, but taking the risk of damaging it at the same time I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more

We have had a family membership with the Shape Fitness in Tecumseh since December of 2023. We moved to Florida in April. Although there was some confusion in the cancellation process, the Veteran owners showed outstanding integrity, and we were able to resolve the issue. We love all that this gym has to offer, whatever type of workout you prefer. I love that it is always open and that there is a fun kid zone that my little ones loved. It was nice to be able to keep an eye on them while working out. We have yet to find another gym here in Florida that will allow our pre-teens to work out with us. It is a well-maintained facility with a laid-back atmosphere. I would recommend this gym to anyone, just be sure to take the time to read the details on how to properly cancel should you move away. read more

Dang me for not reading yelp reviews 2 years ago when I signed up. We went in for the special advertised on Facebook. As we were doing paperwork they said oh I'm sorry this is only for 2 year contracts not 1 (that was not specified anywhere on flyer/ad) so we said ok and went through with it. Not a fault of the gym at all but less than 2 months later we had an emergency move far away from any shape fitness. This move also included leaving personal items behind i.e. our copy of the contract. When reaching out to get our contract cancelled starting in November that year we had to go through multiple people to get the answers and was told the balloon payment to get it canceled would be pretty high. We continued to pay all these months with no gym use. Again not a fault of gym. We started contacting again in Feb 2020 to get canceled. Still got the same run around. But finally was told it would be canceled after June 2020 which was the end of our 2 years. We were still debited July and August. So I reached out beginning of September with my complaint and wanted to make sure I wasn't being charged September as well. Well I was. And AGAIN! We got the runaround and was treated horribly. The kicker is we finally received our personal items in August and I found my contract. Our paperwork indicates we DID only sign a 1 year contract. We have been lied to for so long. We paid an extra 12 months on top of the 3 they still charged us for and not 1 employee ever told us differently. I've not even attempted nor will i try to get the whole 1 year we were screwed out of but I do want the 3 months they charged us for after being promised our contract would be canceled. Run away from this place. Plenty of other gyms to go to besides this sleazy place with horrible customer service. read more

If negative stars were possible I'd give them that. Currently there is a puddle of standing water under a squat rack and literal feces on the locker room floor. The equipment has little to no numbering so it's your best guess at what weight your lifting. More that one person has been hurt by equipment breaking while using it. When asked for help with anything responses are normally "the only good gym is Midwest city" so if you want the decent equipment I hope you're willing to drive past three other of their facilities just to go to the "good" version of this gym read more

Needing to get in some exercise during the winter months, I popped in here on a Monday after work. The girl there, Alisha, was very helpful and knowledgeable. Since I work at Walmart I was eligible for a discounted rate. That's a definite plus! She took the time to show me some of the machines I was interested and told me about the tanning areas. The facilities are extremely clean, the locker areas look like they've been redone recently. All in all, I am extremely satisfied with my decision to join. I feel very safe during and after my workouts. Kudos to Alisha. Since I only go on weekdays after work, can't say how busy the weekends are, but during the week, it's moderately busy after 4. Ask Alisha and she could probably recommend the best times. I feel so good after working out, but I'm taking it slow of course! read more

Hoping to get into shape we Signed up for a year. 1 employee was very kind and informative. The rest were rude and ineffective. I approached the employee behind the desk for instruction on using the tanning equipment.. She looked up from her phone and said..."you just use it" and without missing a beat returned to her ever so important video. Our family has been made fun of and laughed at for attempting to get into better shape/health by More than one of the clientele. We attempted to cancel citing these issues. In short we were told no. Most of these people complaining about price don't read into what they're signing up for. I was given a sheet with the exact price of everything I would be expected to pay, wasn't hit with any surprise charges or fees, and you have a lot of options if the weights aren't quite your style. I love this place!! It's very clean and the staff is so kind and attentive. It has lots of machines so you r all rarely have to worry about them being full, and the classes are fun too! Carolyn is my favorite!! I went to her class one time and she remembered my name and a few personal things about me. Really felt kind that she cares that much about people. read more

Obviously I come here...a lot lol. I take at least three, maybe four classes here a week. The last-minute class cancellations and teachers just deciding to not show up are the worst! It always happens... Might change gyms if it continues (just happened today). As mentioned in previous posts, I love Carolyn' s classes as they're challenging and never dull. Home girl studied this in college and knows her stuff. Another shout out I need to give is Matt and his boxing/MMA class. Rarely does he ever cancel a class and teaches some great stuff. There aren't too many ladies there, but the boys don't bite ;) The front desk staff is super nice and I love the new group activity room renovation. It's GREAT to have a true 24/7 gym in the community that is upfront and honest about their prices instead of gyms that post low rates but hide annual fees, maintenance fees, and sneezing-too-loud fees... They've also gotten some updated equipment! read more

Word of warning for military folks. If you get orders and need to cancel your membership early because of a move they will charge you 50$ to get out of your contract (they'll tell you this is a 'discounted' termination fee for being military). If I were you, I'd find another gym. read more

MEMBERSHIP EXPERIENCE I have been a member of this Shape Fitness location for two years because of a locked in 2-year contract and I can say in my experience this place has nothing it should hang it's hat on. Though there is some friendly staff, I have been coming for two years and not once has a staff member or employee ever gotten to know me, asked me how my exercises are going, asked me to review their service, asked me what could be improved, or cared enough to thank me for being a member (I did have many, many choices after all). They seem to have no one that cares about marketing because in the Web 2.0 days of social technologies and digital marketing, they have never attempted any sort of client engagement online, sent me health or exercise tips, or even offered a discount to renew my contract with them (I will not when my contract expires this month). They do not even maintain a consistent Facebook page or Twitter account and they seem to be very stuck in the dark ages on this. They are instead very sales-oriented and will do anything to make another buck. Examples of this are as follows: no towels and not even any water cooler or paper cups for tap water BUT they put in a vending machine, offer a full line of tanning supplies and energy supplements, and created space for a Herbalife shake and drink bar that is never busy or has a line. FACILITY The facility is in an old grocery story building that they have been trying to renovate and though there have been some improvements, much remains to be seen. The place is poorly ventilated for starters and if it weren't for multiple industrial-size floor fans, it would be even worse. In the men's locker rooms, the locker cabinets are frequently broken or falling off hinges, the carpets are dirty, and there is a floor ventilation tower plugged in near the sinks (and water) that is just begging to electrocute someone. There are rickety benches in the men's locker room and no chairs on the equipment floor. EQUIPMENT There is a decent selection of equipment but there is almost always something broken on the treadmills and nothing is rapidly repaired (video screens). There are tanning beds and two racquetball courts but no pool and no real running track or loop. Very few pieces of equipment appear even close to new and most machines obviously aren't. read more

I have been a member for 3 yrs now staff is friendly need some improvements but is getting better

We joined the Meeker location not even a month ago. There is no real childcare program, my daughter is left in a tiny room with a TV and a door she can just walk out of with no supervision. I attempted to voice my concerns and was not answered. I attempted to find out about a cancellation policy or grace period and had to speak with multiple employees. I was then informed that I should have been given a walk through and told about the three days grace period-I was not given one or told otherwise I would have cancelled. I have asked to speak with a manager, called two locations nine times, and each time was told my call would be returned, the last saying I would be called Monday with information from the ownerand still silence. It was then suggested to me that I find childcare instead of bringing her, rather than answering any my complaints about the care, membership, or service I have received. I am not pleased and don't even use the membership because of the issues, it's a waste of money and has left a sour taste in my mouth for the way this business has been conducted. For a business that totes they are "family owned" I expected better Update: the manager I spoke with refused to hear my complaints and called me a liar, when I then cancelled because we moved (well out of the mileage listed in contract) they attempted to collect a debt. Bad customer service all around. Save your money and get the same things at 10 gym. One year there costs the same as a month at Shape. read more

It's hard to find an actual 24/7 fitness center but Shape Fitness is the real deal! I never have problems getting in when I need to. The Classes here are great! The instructors are fun and engaging which really helps in distracting me from the fact that I'm working out ;) I am SO glad to see a fitness center that actually cares about keeping things clean! This week I went to the Shape Fitness in Meeker to find out why my account was being debited $50 when my husband was told he would not have access to the gym until he brought in a personal check. The girls at the gym were helpful and I asked if my account could be refunded considering my husband never used the gym because his card was not activated and he didn't have access to the gym either. Our account was debited November and December and again my husband never had access. The girls at the gym called their corporate office about my refund, however, I asked to speak with whomever was on the other line. I believe this woman's name was Kate, I asked if I could have a refund due to the circumstances. She said "no we don't do refunds" I was in shock. I said "you debited my account without all the paperwork and my husband does not have access to the gym and you won't refund $100! Are you kidding me! I want to talk to your manager" she said "the person above me is the owner and he doesn't take phone calls." I said "really you are the only one that says yes or no? This is crazy that you will take my money and won't refund it?! This is terrible customer service!" I was shocked. I will never go back to Shape Fitness! If it is possible to not put a star on this review that's what I would give this company. Worst customer service I have ever seen. You make 100s of thousands of dollars I'm sure and you can't refund $100.....seriously?! read more

Horrible customer service! I signed an annual contract in September 2011 that I thought ws set to end in September 2012. In September 2012 they did an ACH payment to my account and there were not enough funds (because my contract was set to be over). They continued to pull an ACH payment from my account for October, November and December. Once I realized this I contacted them and they told me even though my contract was up I had to tell them to discontinue my service. I then stated that my security badge to enter the gym would not work past September. They informed me this was because the check was returned in September. If the check was returned in September and my badge no longer works, THEN QUIT TAKING THE MONEY OUT OF MY ACCOUNT FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE YEAR! read more

I'm so glad that mwc has such a good 24/7 gym, it makes it easy to workout on a busy schedule. They have so many treadmills/bikes/weights/machines etc that there is never a wait to workout. The cardio machines even have TVs on them. I'm not sure what the other reviewers mean by broken equipement because when I let the staff know about a broken cable machine they had the piece ordered and fixed by the next week. A good place to get healthy and fair prices too! I even got a free shirt when I signed up. The only thing that is less than perfect is the water vending machine but they always refund me and have a fountain too so it's not a problem really. read more

We notified this gym back in September of 2015 to cancel our services. Reasons are distasteful music full of vulgar words, dirty machines and broke down machines often. We not only gave it a year we have given it FOUR years of monthly dues paid! We told the woman at the front that we wished to cancel our services. She said she was putting in to the owner but that it might not stop in October. NO biggie. Then October's dues were withdrawn but with my surgery I did not pay attention and that was returned ( I don't use this checking account any longer except to put the gym membership). So I called (lost the paper I had the previous girls name wrote on) and stated that I again wanted the services canceled. They said well with October being returned they would withdraw this amount again. I said okay but I want the service stopped. November the fee went through. I thought this was the end. NO..December was charged and again returned (we do not use this checking account). Called again and they stated it would be stopped they apologized. Then Jan 2016 the charges went through because I put money in there just incase and I was TIRED of paying a bank charge of $29!! My husband physically went into the store and presented a cease electronic charge request and a statement of requesting canceling of our account that he wanted signed. The clerk would not sign but would leave for the owner. So now I get a letter saying I OWE for October and December plus NSF funds and they will not stop service charges until I pay this. According to the Electronic funds transfer act, upon written notification a company MUST cease. At this point we have paid a stop payment fee to our bank and are sending a last cease letter to the company before we take further action. We are MUCH happier at our other gym. ANY gym is better than this gym. It is a sweaty high school weight room with with the same mentality. read more
