I want to share my experience with Restoration Electrolysis in Rochester, NY, in hopes of helping…read moreothers make informed decisions. I received two electrolysis treatments (one on each half of my chin) on January 26 and February 1, 2025 respectively. After each session, I developed significant scabbing that lasted around a week. I assumed this was normal until the scabs healed and left behind severe hyperpigmentation and textural, pitted scarring (see photos). When I expressed my concerns before my third scheduled appointment to Gia Pauldine, the electrologist who owns the practice and performed the procedure, I felt dismissed. Though a shorter electrolysis session and light therapy were suggested, I ultimately canceled due to an unrelated illness and decided to wait to reschedule. Unfortunately, the discoloration and pitting worsened, so I never returned. I showed photos of my chin to other professionals; another electrologist was shocked by the damage and advised me to stop treatment immediately. Estheticians and a dermatology nurse practitioner believed I had likely been burned during treatment. They recommended topical prescriptions and treatments like chemical peels or microneedling once my skin was ready to handle them. I reached out to Ms. Pauldine on March 19, 2025 requesting a refund for both the services and a hyperpigmentation cream she had suggested (which the NP advised against using) as well as the additional costs I had accrued seeing other professionals to correct the damage. While I initially felt dismissed again as I was told to "trust the process" and it "could take many months to fully resolve" she did eventually reimburse me in full, including for my dermatology copay and uncovered prescription cost. I reported this incident to the American Electrology Association and the NY Electrology Association but was told there was not much they could do. I've attached dated photos. My skin has still not recovered fully and while my confidence has taken a hit, I am patient and hopeful that with continued treatment, it'll be back to normal eventually. I've waited to write this review so that I am not posting out of anger but awareness. My skin is healing, but the irony is painful; I originally sought electrolysis to reduce scarring from ingrown hairs, and now I have more facial scars than before. Please be cautious and advocate for yourself when something seems off! What I experienced is not normal and not ok, I knew it in my gut at the start but didn't want to be pessimistic. I hope no one else has to go through this.

Dr. Vega by the way, said he thought I wanted to be smaller just ahead of the surgery(!?). I had to remind him we discussed him trying out 2 or 3 different sizes to get a C/D cup, which I was before the cancer, and for symmitry. It was clear he forgot, and did not order larger sizes. Whe we discussed that the fat transfer wouldn't have made a difference, he himself suggested I get a 2nd opion. I did.... going to the doctor he recommended. Mistake. At that visit this doctor referred to Dr. Vega by his first name (friends or what?) and said the work was 'just fine'. ("not") Dr. Vega's office then sends a letter saying that since I went to another practice I am no longer their patient. Please note... my records were not sent to the office I used for a 2nd opion, I went for a 2nd opinion at his suggestions, and I never said I was leaving his practice. What is interesting, is that the fat-transfer work I had done prior (but in Florida so no longer covered by my insurance) was great. And my new, local doctor was able to complete the 'tweaks' just fine. Last, there were no office visits of any sort made prior to the surgery, and so it is not a surprise Dr. Vega lost track. But he did not make it right, and his arrogance was awful though he did call to personally apologize after one particularly nasty visit. I expect my surgeon to have just enough arrogance and confidence to cut me open. But not to the point where s/he does not listen. This review will be shared elsewhere as well.

I've been to several places in the last year and finally was recommended to go here by a couple different people. My first appointment was with Kim. I hymned and hawed about getting a full set of nails because I'm picky and they always look so fake on me. Not here. I walked out with a smile on my face and beautiful nails! I felt so pretty again! ( I know, weird that something so little can complete you and have such an effect on your being but........ we all know it's true) She also accommodated the fact that I could not stay for my pedicure after because I was running behind and had to pick someone up. She nicely told me it was not a problem and scheduled me for the very next day. (A day before a holiday which is probably the busiest of all days) I came in with my son's girlfriend. She did not have an appointment but she had missed hers and her nails were so overgrown they hurt. They stayed an hour late just to get her in and her nails were even more beautiful than mine and I have no idea how that was possible!! The next day, Kay did my pedicure. WOW is all I can say. I told them why I was there, I could not walk without pain on both big toes because of the last pedicure. It had only been just under 3 weeks and I just couldn't see myself going back to that same place to deal with it again and again, Kay took one look and said, "they are cutting it wrong." That's exactly what I was thinking!!!!!! Well let me tell you, it's been 2 weeks and 2 days and guess what???? No pain! I don't feel like I have to rush in there so soon to relieve the pressure from nails being cut incorrectly. I will be scheduling my next appointment with Kay again next week and just want to thank her for knowing her shit and caring enough to listen to me, correct the damage from another salon and give me faith in knowing there are good salons and techs out there and I'm grateful!!! Kay also did my first nail fill last week and again, I was blown away. I guess it doesn't matter which tech you end up with, you just know they all take great pride in the work they do and the finished product you walk away with and what a comfort that is! She always does exactly what I request and pretty quickly too. $75 for a full set seems a little steep but totally worth it for the quality in my opinion.
