This business has moved to Black Diamond…read more When I first visited Mary at The Hair Scene at the Covington location, I was suffering from a horrible dye job by another colorist (my hair was actually blue/green at one point from the dye used). It took a couple of visits, but Mary fixed the damage done as best she could on my first visit, and added a few highlights to minimize the appearance of the damage. I was very happy with her work, and continued to visit for regular colors on a four to six week basis. That horrible hair job was over a decade ago, and I'm happy to say that my hair has never looked (or felt) better. I have very long hair (down to my knees at one point), and that has never been a challenge for Mary. My hair is also naturally very dark (close to black) and I prefer a very light, silvery blonde, which is also no problem for Mary. I'm very picky about my hair (it is my appearance, after all), and so I have very specific wants and needs as far as color and (the occasional) cut. Mary listens and does exactly what I want. She's always supportive of my needs as far as cut and color, and I really appreciate that. The new shop in Black Diamond is so beautiful. It's easy to get to (right off Railroad Avenue in Black Diamond), clean, and well decorated. I can't say enough good things about Mary and the work she does. Price is great for the work she does also.

ALWAYS a great job. :)…read more I've often received complements after Mary has done my hair. Just one of the reasons I've been coming to her for years. As an example, Mary cut my hair on Monday and by Tuesday evening I'd already gotten two complements on it! :-D

My wife recently came to Cultivate for all her hair needs including extensions and everything always came out looking extraordinary so when I learned that they did men's hair as well I scheduled an appointment with Stephanie. This was far and away the best experience I've had. Not only did my hair cut and beard trim look better than any other time I've had it professionally done, the experience as a whole was well worth it. Stephanie was very professional and made the whole experience very enjoyable. The studio is gorgeous and very accommodating. I will for sure be booking again and again in the future. Can't recommend Cultivate enough!

I don't know if they provide good hair service because I didn't get any. I found them while…read moresearching online for salons specializing in hair loss. I had in-depth discussion on phone about my situation and was adamant I could not use any extensions that were sewn or taped due to pressure on my hair. I specifically asked about Halos. I was advised they did not do halos but they had many options to help that would not aggravate my hair loss and they scheduled me a consult to meet with the owner, Shaddrica, who would assess and put me with an appropriate specialist. When I arrived I met with someone else (not the owner) and was advised they only did 2 kinds of extensions...taped and sewn in! I told her I didn't think I should have to pay the $50 consult fee since I specifically told the scheduler I could not do those kind and was assured they had many other kinds. She apologized for the misinformation indicating they had a lot of new girls who are still learning. She went and talked to the owner who came out and talked with me for about 10 minutes, explained why halos wouldn't work and said they had some super lightweight, small tape ins that she was sure would not cause more hair loss and if they did, they would tell me right away. She said she'd do a color match and get pricing together for me while I thought about it as it would take a bit to do the pricing. She did not do the color match but did collect the $50 consult fee that she assured me could be applied to service. After not hearing from her about pricing and talking with my dermatologist, I messaged her to tell her I decided against taking a risk with any extensions until we figure out the hair loss cause and asked if she would apply the $50 to a deep conditioning treatment. No response. So, I'm out $50 and received nothing. They are $50 richer and get this review. Can't believe anyone these days

I had my first Curly Specialty Haircut with Nikki, and the entire experience exceeded my…read moreexpectations. From the moment we started our consultation, Nikki understood exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to retain as much length as possible while cleaning up my split ends, adding more lift to my curls, and incorporating some soft face framing. She immediately had a vision and went to work. It was genuinely beautiful to watch her artfully shape my curls--carefully snipping here, refining there--and throughout the appointment our conversation flowed naturally. We discovered several shared interests, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Nikki's apprentice (I wish I could remember her name!) did the shampoo and conditioning service, and it was incredible. The shampoo is always my favorite part of any salon visit, but this one was next level. The scalp massage was relaxing, the pressure was perfect, and I walked away feeling like stress I didn't even realize I was carrying had melted away. During styling, Nikki introduced me to a curl-defining brush and took the time to show me how to use it correctly. I already owned one but had been using it wrong. She explained everything clearly and made sure I understood the technique. The true test of a great curly haircut is what happens after you leave the salon. The next day, I was able to style my hair exactly the way Nikki had shown me, and my curls looked fantastic. To me, that's the sign of an exceptional stylist--not only a beautiful haircut, but one that's easy to recreate at home. If you have curly hair and are looking for someone who truly understands curls, listens to what you want, and delivers beautiful, wearable results, I highly recommend Nikki at The Loft Salon

I developed some new curls and waves after a lifetime of straight hair. I was at a loss on how to handle it. I slight recommendations for a someone who had experience with this type of hair. Her name was consistently brought up. Okay, fine. I knew she was funny so at least I could get to know her a bit. She put me at ease as I was afraid to do a curly cut (not all stylists are good at them, or understand them). She disarmed me and listened, and seemed to understand every point and fear I presented. Needless to say, I was thrilled to not have life turned upside down from a silly haircut, which it could have been! () She was fantastic both in her experience/talent as a stylist and also as someone to work with and has enough experience that you can't really throw her from her focus. I am looking forward to another visit and to enjoy not just a haircut but also some laughs because of her fantastic personality (charming, funny)! For the record, I've consistently heard solid recommendations for the salon. I've not heard a weak comment in my 20 years of living in this community. And now I get to book hair mastery services with Nikki, too!

Everyone is always welcoming, and it's a place I genuinely look forward to visiting. I had to leave this review because Morgan gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had. She truly knows her craft. It was also the best fade I've ever received. I asked Morgan about her training, and after seeing her work, it absolutely shows. She's incredibly skilled, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, she listens. She took the time to understand exactly what I wanted and delivered even better than I expected. Throughout the entire haircut, she checked in with me before making any adjustments, making sure I was comfortable with every step. That level of communication, attention to detail, and professionalism is hard to find. If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares about giving you the best cut possible, I can't recommend Morgan enough. The P.I Guy Chris
