I'm coming on here because I was honestly surprised the rating on here was so low. We LOVE sharkey's for our daughter and son, they beg us to take them here because ofc it's fun and comfortable for kids compared to a normal hair salon. I've never been upset with the haircuts on my children & they've never been upset. Yes it's a little more pricey but it's for the experience, my daughter loves that they paint her nails and they always offer to style her hair cute. If you haven't tried this salon it's definitely worth giving them a chance!

Horrendous experience.... go elsewhere. I booked a boy's first haircut specifically, and it showed up as such on the screen when we arrived. We've never done this before, so didn't know what to expect. I showed Jackie pictures of what I was thinking and we got my son situated in the car chair. I am the first to admit when my kid is acting up, and he was beyond exceptional during the cut... this atrocity was NOT a result of a wiggly toddler. It was solely a result of Jackie not being qualified. Jackie had already begun to wet and cut my son's hair before asking if it was his first cut. When I said yes, she replied "well you should've told us. We do a before picture." I responded "I booked a first haircut appointment and, as it's his first haircut, I didn't know there was a before picture." So, no big deal, we got a "before" picture with his hair already wet and started to be cut. In my explaining and in the pictures I showed her, I made it clear I still wanted his hair to be on the longer side and "shaggy" so we still had some curls. When she got around to the front, she completely JACKED up the bangs. I'm talking super short for some pieces and not even touching others. So at that point, what choice do we have? I guess we're going short. Again, NOT what I wanted, NOT what I communicated, and NOT what I showed in the pictures. She proceeded to attempt to cut my son's hair at the most painfully slow pace ever... he was sitting in the chair for 45 minutes. Again, I will reiterate that I could not have asked my 2 year old to be any more compliant. He was amazingly still and calm while watching shows and bubbles. She kept asking "Is this what you wanted?" And his hair was legitimately an inch shorter on one side, super short in the front, and still long and uneven in the back. My husband had to keep telling and showing her where things were obviously uneven. It was SO bad that Jackie HERSELF went and asked a coworker to come help her fix it. So not only was it obvious to us (paying customers) that she didn't know what she was doing, it was also obvious to her and clearly to her coworkers who were not surprised to come fix her mistakes. Why on EARTH would you employ someone who cannot cut hair to do first haircuts for children? I am beyond upset and my son's hair is awful. We went in with long blond curls (picture attached) and left with a choppy and uneven disaster (pictures attached). I hope for the sake of other families you rethink having her do first haircuts. I did reach out to company and Kayla wanted me to come back in to have another stylist do a free redo to help fix it. I contemplated that, but truthfully can't trust myself to go back to the salon and keep my cool. Not worth it to put my toddler through that. We'll deal with this hack job and go elsewhere when we're ready.

Best haircut my little man has ever had!

My son has tricky hair and we have finally found us a place that nailed his haircut. Highly recommend!

the haircut turned out good, although i had asked the lady to cut more and she mentioned i was going to make my son look bald, she asked what i wanted then i told her, for her to not do it and when i first entered she chuckled and asked where my sons hair was (not professional) he didn't have much hair at the time i had just asked her to give him a fade because he was pulling his hair out by his ears and i was hoping cutting it would make it grow back better! mind you for a first time haircut it was 40$ i will be finding a new place, she was nice just definitely not professional! after telling a few people about my experience, they had agreed that sharkey's was not the one for them either! read more

We had a wonderful experience. It was awesome that there were so many different options for keeping kids entertained and distracted, and I feel like it helped keep the entire process smooth. I loved getting a before and after picture, and a lock of my son's hair from his first haircut. read more

We had the best experience at Sharkeys for our daughter, so I thought it would be great for my sons and husband to go too. Their hair looks terrible! So uneven and crooked. The stylist argued with my husband when he requested that our son's hair be cut shorter and cleaner. $100 down the drain because now we are going to have to get it fixed and pay for that too. I called the store and asked to have a manager call me back but no return phone call. I'm so disappointed. read more

My family and I love this place! highly recommend! My son needed his first haircut. I was very nervous about but they made him feel so very comfortable and taken care of. he sat in my lap and babbled on to the ladies like he was gossiping! He is 6 months and I am a first time mom and made me feel very comfortable also. also the vibe was amazing and so very fitting for kids. An older boy was playing Mario cart on the PlayStation while getting his hair trimmed. Then I also loved that they let me take a little bit of his hair home with a picture and certificate to remember forever. I was emotional cause my son was born with a full head hair so to be able to keep a little bit of that was amazing. can't wait to tell him all about it when he is older. Thank you guys!!! read more

This haircut was honestly the easiest cut ever with my son & I didn't have to sit in the chair with him, I didn't have to fight him for the hair cut! Heather at the norman location was absolutely amazing & so patient with my son. I always have a great experience here. My son loves it and his hair always comes out great. Customer service is good as well. I would recommend always reserving online because it can get packed with walk ins. Only thing is that I think they should make it reservation-only on weekends (Fri-Sun) to prevent a build up of people waiting and to help the stylist not get stressed out or rushed. read more

Our experiences have ranged from about 3 star to 5 star. This was the equivalent of my own hair appointment, but for my 2 year old! He loved every second, getting to pick which car he drove, what he got to watch. Sonya did an excellent job. At the end he got to pick a sucker and balloon. read more

We've gone to Sharkey's twice to have my son's hair cut and we've always had great experiences! The atmosphere is fun and inviting for kids and the stylists are always so friendly and patient with my 18 month old. We'll be back! read more
