Five stars on one of the worst days of our lives. On Saturday, we said goodbye to our beloved Roxy, who wasn't just a pet--she was family. Her quality of life was declining quickly, and Doc compassionately explained that she was not a candidate for surgery and would not recover. As heartbreaking as it was, he gave us the reassurance that letting her go was the right and most loving choice. Nathan and Lindsey, thank you for being so incredibly patient and compassionate. You gave us all the time we needed for one last face lick, tail wag, and cuddle. I'm especially grateful you were there with us in Rikki's absence. The staff members at Sharp are always pleasant. They have taken excellent care of my cat and are understanding when she's not cooperative. Their pricing is more reasonable than the other veterinary place near us, which is much appreciated. Their groomer has always done a great job with my cat's sedated grooms as well. We just got a puppy and I feel good about continuing to take both of my animals there for their care. read more

We brought our cat in for swelling in his belly. After the vet aggressively handled my cat he determined it was belly fat which was a misdiagnoses. My cat got worse quick after that, we took him to ER, but it was too late and he passed. The lack of care at this place is harmful to animals. Please do not take them there, i beg you for your animals sake. They were aggressive, had no care, act as if we were dumb for bringing him in, and just wanted us in and out. If they cared, just one micro, my cat may be alive today. read more

Took my cat there because I noticed his belly getting bigger, the vet misdiagnosed him and said it was just belly fat. Less then 2 weeks later he passed away because it was fluid in him and I took him elsewhere and while they tried to help him it had gotten bad and he passed. Don't go here the vet clearly does not care enough to actually figure out the problem. Sad cuz I have been going there for close to 8 years and now I will never go back. read more

Dear People, I have been going to Sharp Animal Hospital in Fraser for over ten years. I had no problems with one of the Tech's there. She was amazing and She has been on sick leave over the last five months. The place has gone down. hill. They do not cut my cat's nail right and when they do they miss half of her nails or the nails are shredded at the ends and not cut right. They are those who give her allergic meds, but they say it is too hard to give it to her. They are supposed to give her a private cut and half the time it looks like they barely cut it. I have given their treats each month over the years when my favorite Lindsay who is now on medical leave. It is sad that she is not there. Since I have complaint about their services their manager called me today and said I should take my cat somewhere else. Nice how they treat people after someone coming there for over 10 years instead of talking to their techs to do a better job. They tell their customers to go somewhere else. My 85 year old mother's cat had an emergency and when she called the office to try to get him in they told her she would have to wait for 2 days. They said they could not accommodate an emergency appointment and gave her a number to an emergency vet 20 minutes away from my mom's home. After I received a frantic call from my mom (and I live in Texas) I called the vet to explain further and see if an exception can be made to have the cat brought in that day since my mom is limited with driving distances. I asked to speak to the vet after speaking with Kim. THE VET HERE IS VERY RUDE and wouldn't even speak to me and told Kim to tell me to take the cat to the ER vet. My mom took her cat to the ER vet $1000 later it ended up that the cat was severely constipated. My mom is on a fixed income and $1000 was a lot for her. Don't bring your pet here - they truly don't care about the wellbeing of the animal. My mom WAS taking her cat here for over a year at this point. I remember my parents bringing our dachshund here back in the 1970s - yeah, they've been in business for a long time - so I knew this would be the place to bring my Sphynx baby for his care. The office is clean, staff is super friendly (everyone stopped by to see Bruno, haha), and it was easy to get an appointment. I also like that you can register your pet online for an account (kind of like a "My Chart" for pets) where you can keep up with their health maintenance, etc. Highly recommend. read more

Sharp Animal Hospital - Everyone loved me - Veterinarians Near Me - Fraser, Michigan

Sharp Animal hospital animal care has declined greatly. The staff is great- especially Jennifer the Office Manager. The vet - Dr. M is terrible . We brought our cat into the office back in March for an Upper Respiratory infection. Dr M. prescribed hairball gel and the visit was over $100. Also wanted to run over $1,000 in tests that did not address our pets issues. Went back in early June for the same issue which was far worse by then and the vet- Dr. M advised my cat had asthma. Gave him a strong steroid shot but condition never improved. Never explained the side effects or that it is usually used as a last resort for treatment! Again wanted to run over $1,000 in tests and shamed us for not running with his suggestion. Tried the Kitty Clinic ( Dr Ruiz) and sure enough it was an Upper Respiratory Infection. She addressed that issue and next day my cat was starting to improve. Sharp doesn't seem to care about addressing the animals needs and only cares about increasing their profit. Really concerning to me that he was going to treat my cat for asthma on an ongoing basis and potentially cause him more health harm than good. All to make more profit. Either the vet knew he was lying to us or very incapable of making a correct diagnosis. Either situation is unacceptable and we will never go back . Shame on you Dr M !!! I only came here because my dog is aggressive and it's the only place in macomb county that sedates dogs for grooming. I started getting his vaccines done here because it was convenient. They declined him due to weight, so I gave him more food and he's gained weight and gained a level in something else and they're still declining him. Let this be known they didn't even bother to call until 45 minutes prior to the apt to cancel after having it booked for 3 weeks.. then said I can make an apt to get X-rays done...???? What does X-rays have to do with appropriate weight gain.. money hungry read more

I adopted a 3 year old shorthair spayed cat from the Macomb County Animal Shelter. She had all her shots and vaccines and micro-chipped so I asked where I should take her for the complete checkup they suggested. They asked where I lived and I said Fraser and without hesitation they suggested SHARP. I can only say they are genuine animal lovers in addition to being very competent and professional. My kitty felt very comfortable going to one of the technicians when called. Heck she doesn't do that for ME! Dr Eric was very thorough yet gentle on my now 11 year old 'Cleo' & equally important Dr Eric was gentle on my wallet and didnt charge me for unnecessary tests exams or treatment. I feel like they treated me and my kitty with kindness and compasion as I am on a limited fixed income. What more could I or anyone ask for out of their family Vet? HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

Lots of positives after taking our pups here for a few years, including: the ability to get vaccines for multiple years instead of all of them yearly, a small outdoor area to let the pups stretch their legs and de-stress before and after care, a vet and employees who came out to the car to get the pups one at a time during the pandemic even when we were were distancing longer than most people, judgement free care (pick what care you want for your pets without being judged). I can't think of any improvement areas, so I referred a family member who takes her pups here too and is happy. read more

I am 84 years old living on a very tight income, I do try to give my Miguel the best care I can afford, I am not complaining about Sharp Hospital's care but I do feel I have been very much over charged for Eicosaderm Omega 3 , I was charged $43.55 for a 8oz bottle, I thought that was way too much and checked on Amazon ,same 8oz bottle for $26.00. My question is why? I s there a reason for this high price, could you have told me I could get it at a much lower price so I could pay my $232.51 bill. read more

This place is close by and had been a place my wife had went to in the past for her animal so we started to bring our two cats here after moving. It's a smaller operation and seemed like a caring place initially when our animals were healthy and only required a general checkup (despite the facility being outdated with a grungy feel). The moment one of our cats became seriously, I'll our experience changed drastically. Having taken him to an emergency visit the night before to be told nothing was wrong, his condition rapidly continued to deteriorate prompting us to schedule with Sharp, our primary that day. Upon a basic exam, the Doctor provided several possibilities of what could be happening but that they were unable to help him because they were closing. Their suggestion was to go to an emergency vet. Meanwhile our cat hadn't eaten or drank water in 2 days, had already vomited 4 times, had diarrhea, lethargic, and a drastic behavior change. He was incredibly stressed from multiple vet visits and car rides with continued deterioration in health. All of which seemed less important than the Doctor and his staff going home. They wouldn't even help find a location that would see him. I would highly not recommend this place to take your animal. It's incredibly difficult to find a good vet out there so I hope this review can save you time in your search. read more

I would not recommend Sharp Animal Hospital. I made an appointment there for my daughter when her vet was booked up for the next 5 - 6 weeks. They were not professional and made her come back a second time even when she had everything they needed and most importantly they did not do a good job taking care of her 17 year old dog. I don't want to get into all the details and I know that we are all going through challenging times but because of all the things that went wrong between both appointments they have lost our business and a few other patients too. read more

I have been going to Sharp Animal Hospital for years with my 14 year old dog and never had a problem. In fact I am impressed with their portfolio that they give on the pet. When my dog suddenly became ill, they were unable to "fit us in" I was able to find another emergency vet to see my dog and the next day after blood work and decline in health occurred, the emergency vet recommended euthanasia. I called Sharp back around noon, four hours before Sharp closed and tearfully said I need to put their patient, my dog - down. They replied "we can get you in on Monday". That was 48 hours from when I called. So they were okay with my dog suffering all that time. When I called several days later to let them know my disappointment, they blamed these actions on Covid. The vet that I relied on and used to take care of my pets was not there for me when I needed them most. Another vet in the area who didn't know me and was under the same Covid restrictions was there to help me. read more

I have been going to Sharp Animal Hospital for over 30 years. They are caring, competent, and do a great job. I've read some complaints about the tests they suggest. You are given an estimate for all of the recommended tests, and you can choose which ones you want to go with. I'd rather have this option than have a vet (as I have in the past) who did the bare minimum and you had to practically beg for additional tests to be run. I have been bringing my pets to this vet for the last 7 years. 4 cats and 3 dogs. I would not recommend this place to anyone anymore. They are extremely expensive and only interested in the money they can pump out of you. I just had to pay 1000 dollars to get my 4 lbs dog neutered and 4 teeth pulled. I was originally quoted 730 but after the dog was sedated they informed me it was 300 more to pull the teeth! The only reason i brought her in for surgery was to pull the teeth. The vet said they were rotten and needed to be pulled. You should think that would be included in the quote. Right? If you like to pay alot of money to take care of your pets, then this is the place for you. Also when i told them i was upset and would not use them again, they couldn't care less. So much for 7 years loyalty and all the referrals i sent their way. read more

VERY happy I found this place. I'd even screwed up - when I called and made an appointment with a vet for our two dogs, I *thought* I was calling this place, but apparently not. I'd called a place further down the street. Luckily, they were really cool and helpful, and made time to get the dogs in for their checkup and look them over. They even called the other place and canceled for me...saving me an awkward conversation, so that's also a plus. Pricing is extremely reasonable, and they'll talk you through various options you can consider when it comes to medication, treatment, shots, etc. They're also NOT the insanely annoying kind of vet that I've wanted to throatpunch in the past - they don't hit you with a nineteen page questionnaire that asks you to "rate" how much you like your pet...presumably so that they know how much they can price gouge you on treatment options down the road. I mean, our dogs are awesome and everything...but they're dogs. They're pets. No, I don't love my pets like I love my kids, and any vet that asks that question should be tasered every eighteen seconds. Live. On camera. Broadcast to other vets as a warning. Very clean office and waiting room. They weren't pushy about special food, special vitamins, or anything else like that...also highly appreciated. Willow is my first dog. She is a Kairn/Westie mix (At least that is what the shelters' best guess was) and I never thought I could love something so much! I want to give her everything she needs and wants so that her life is nothing but enjoyable and lengthy. Luckily, my wife (Who I love almost as much) has lived with dogs in the past, but really only took them to the vets as needed. My Willow is going to have it better. A animal loving co-worker told me that the place by my House - Sharp Animal Hospital - has a great reputation, so we took her advice and made Willow an appointment. The people I have talked to on the phone or in person have always been friendly, if sometimes short with their answers and statement. I can understand since they always seem pretty busy. No one has been even close to rude or pushy and they all treat Me, my wife and my sweetheart Willow gently and with kindness. I will admit that my wife has been tasked with taking the love-of-my-life Willow to Sharp's the last few trips. My last time going there was for an anti-vomiting shot since innocent and precious Willow must have ate something in the yard for the 4.2 seconds I stopped looking at her. The pained look in Willows trusting eyes and the piercing yelp! during the shot quickly made me light headed with an uncontrollable anger and I almost tackled the Vet Tech on instinct! Luckily, I was able to control myself with deep breaths and the knowledge that my Moon and Sunshine Willow would be cured of what was bothering her. Yes I am an over-protective wuss when it comes to my dog... No I do not have kids. When the Doctor does come in to look at my precious, unique golden flower of a forever puppy, he doesn't seem as in awe of her beauty and charm as I do. I wouldn't say dis-interested, maybe tired - which again, I can understand. The last appointment I went to was on one of their convenient days with extended hours. I am sure he has been visited by numerous "cute" animals over his career, but it was still strange to see anyone whose heart didn't immediately melt in the presence of my sweet and beautiful Willomeena. The doctor quickly pulled his hand back from Willow when she showed interest in his hand as he went to check her ears... Silly doctor! All she wanted to do was give you kisses for helping to make her feel better! He asked if she snapped at people like that often... What the H-E double hockey sticks are you talking about "snapped"? I mumbled something about him being the first and he continued his checkup of my 18 pound fluffy ball of sweetness as if he were examining a blood covered 100 pound war-hound with teeth sharpened to razors. The exam seemed rushed to me after that, but I was new to this. I know I have waited for a doctor in a tiny room for an hour or so, only to have the doctor come in and spend 42 seconds with me before sending me off with a piece of paper and advice to lose weight. Yeah, I'm a little chubby - who are you to judge me? Anyway, I am also not sure on the pricing. Is it high or low? I am not sure since this is the only place I have eve taken my perfect, angelic baby girl Willow and she is worth every penny. We have never been pressured or guilt-ed into buying anything extra or non-essential. They seem to give us a discount on her flea and tick meds if we buy a 6 month supply and they give Willow a little treat when we are done. I'm not sure I'd want to take my glowing princess Willow to a discount Vet anyway. Shape's is both convenient for us and from what I can tell, very competent. If I can trust them with the sweetest, prettiest, awesome, inspiring, loving, innocent, prefect doggie in Macomb county, you can too. read more

I have taken my dog rocky to Sharp hospital for close to 16 years since he was adopted from a animal shelter. As rocky got older he had to have more them routine preventative procedures. The doctors and staff always took care of him. Rocky's health Deteriorated to the point that quality of life became an issue. As everyone knows it takes a toll you losing a part of your family. It is extremely hard to make that ultimate decision. The staff and doctors made his transition peacefully, a few day later I received an arrangement of flowers to comfort and emotional support which was followed by a card signed by the entire staff. I simply cannot say how happy I am that I found Sharp Animal Hospital. My boyfriend and I rescued an older kitty last year that came to us with some pretty significant health issues. The staff was great about addressing her immediate medical needs as well as outlining a plan to get her back to wellness once her infections had been dealt with. They went over costs and were understanding that we couldn't afford to do everything all at once and helped us prioritize each step of her recovery. Dr Malarney always calls personally to go over any test results and thoroughly answers any questions as well as going over treatment options. The techs are amazing. In addition to being friendly and knowledgable, they understand each animals' and owners' quirks. They're always available to answer any questions you may have (and I had a lot at first so we talked frequently). The facility is clean and inviting and doesn't smell like a barn like some veterinary centers I've been to in the past. Overall I would highly recommend Sharp Animal Hospital to any pet parent looking for high quality veterinary care for their fur babies. read more

Ive been a client for over 15 years. We've had some good experiences, and also some bad experiences. This last visit was the final for us. Every time we go in there seems to be more charges. We didn't agree with their pricing on yearly shots for our pups, so we went to "all about animals." When we went in for grooming, they tried to tell me that those shots weren't "good enough" because they use a different "brand" and my pups would need new shots in order to qualify for grooming. This last time, they quoted my husband a price of $158 for groom and shots when we dropped them off. When I picked them up, they gave me a price of $250 and said that the quoted price was for shots only (no groom). Also, the "vaccine special" they have is $70 but I was charged $78, (without rabies as they didn't need that one) but it included a mandatory exam. When I questioned it, they informed me that my "husband approved it and thats our price" and I basically didn't have a choice. I told them that i would never come back and today i received a letter stating that they were removing ME from the practice. Pretty convenient since I left "first" but they apparently had to have the last say as the manager never reached out to me to ask my side of it. The entire situation was completely unprofessional and I got stuck paying an additional $100 that I hadn't budgeted for. The Dr is definitely more interested in up-charging and we have noticed miscellaneous extra fees here and there. I completely understand veterinary costs rising, but this seems to be excessive especially since there are other vets out there who charge less. We loved Amy for grooming and we are sad that this affects her but unfortunately we have heard many similar stories regarding the staff and Dr. read more

My dog had bad experience with the chain groomers I appreciate the care they give her I knew it wasn't my dogs issue it was the groomer. I appreciate sharp to give excellent care for my girl. I brought my dog here when I got my dog from the shelter, they ran various tests that another vet said were " unnecessary". THEY WANT AS MUCH OF YOUR MONEY AS THEY CAN GET. They also did not prescribe my dog heart worm prevention, which another vet said that was one of the only things the dog actually needed. This is not a good vet, take your money elsewhere cause you'll save money and your animal will get better treatment. read more

This is the best veterinary office I've ever used. They first got my dog in shortly after I moved to the Roseville area, he was injured and urgently needed help. They got him in within an hour and didn't even charge me an emergency fee. He was and is very well cared for by sharp. The veterinarian is knowledgeable as is his staff. Everyone who works here is very nice and great with my dog. They have a customer for life in me. read more

Girl at front desk is very unpleasant!! Appointment scheduled for 6:30 and we arrived in door at 6:40 (although unpleasant girl stated it was 6:45). We were told since we were late vet took next appt. We apologized and said we would wait for other appt to be completed but was told our dog would not be seen because they close at 7. But then offered to be seen as "emergency" for more money. REALLY!!! Have been long time patient....2 cats and 1 dogs. Awful. Decided to try them out since they are close to home and our regular vet is so far now that we moved. Pretty much I get the feeling that they just want to take your money. First visit they wanted to run tests and X-rays and charge is over $700 just to be referred after if surgery was necessary. My dog had been limping slightly on one of his back legs and I took him in to have it checked out. They couldn't confirm or really tell me anything with out all the tests. My dog also has seasonal allergies and we have him on medication during the summer. They gave us a quote and while it was much higher than the old place we decided to get it from there when he needed it. Saving us time and gas would about make up the difference in cost. When I called to get the medicine less that a month later they said they had to see him again before they could. There would be no charge unless they found something else wrong. Well guess what; they did. They tell me he needs more meds for a skin infection (that he doesn't have) so they have to charge for the visit. He does not have a skin infection. He has scratches around his eyes and inside legs from scratching from his allergies. We go through this every summer with him. As soon as he's on his medication he clears up and is happy again. This last appointment was on Saturday. I have given him his medicine since then and his face is already healed up and no signs of him scratching on his body. We told the vet that this would happen, all he needed was his allergy pills. I will NEVER go back or recommend anyone to this vet office. They want your money and that's it. I will be making the drive to my old vet office from now on. read more
