After some had come and gone I found Mitchell. She does a great job and is always friendly. She no longer works weekends though so I have been once again trying others. They don't do quite as well but still good! I don't like getting haircuts were women do. So this place is men only and has a nice atmosphere as well. Try it! You will like it!

It's not to say that the vast majority of the stylist here aren't amazingly talented, as that would be the absolute polar opposite of the truth. I did have a couple of times where I walked out with the not the best haircut, but that could easily be brushed off as something I didn't communicate well enough with regard to what I was looking to have done. Overall, please please please communicate with your stylist. Your not being pushy. Your just being clear, concise, and if anything your stylist will appreciate the guidance so that they don't have to stand there guessing what it is you want done down to the small details. Personally for me, Sbeidi is the absolute best stylist for me. There are a lot of reasons for this, some of which I am sure can also be said for the other stylists here. But Sbeidi really has this down, and it's impossible to not leave satisfied with your hair, and how her work on it culminated into what you get to show off for the next few weeks. Everyone is going to be different, and may want a different experience from the last person that walked into this place, so you may need to jump around to find someone that fits for you, but it's certainly worth it. (Note: if you have a bad experience with one stylist, I strongly recommend giving at least 2 others a go before you decide to longer come here. You should also always call ahead and make an appointment so that you don't have to wait long (but they are almost always flexible with available times), but I am sure walk in wait times can depend on the day. I just don't recommend going in without an appointment) EDIT: They are also doing a lot of changes and adjustments to lighten the mood inside. I am sure more things will evolve as time goes on, but it's just something I figured I would note.

She didn't go crazy trying to sell product or anything and I appreciated that (although I did learn about something that I didn't know!). The schedule is a bit limited but it's worth the effort. Is it as "low cost" as a Great Clips or Supercuts? No. And I'm totally cool with that because this is the best haircut I've had since I moved to Elmhurst 5 years ago. I have scheduled another appointment 4 weeks from now. I wish I could remember the name of the lady who gave me my beard trim, she also did a great job! Well, last review was about So-So Clips up in here in Elk Grove. I tried to give myself a George Clooney. I DO NOT believe he cuts his own hair. How. How can he do the back? Do the Exorcist? So, I thought, I am not going back to So-So Clips and decided to go with SPORTS CLIPS on Meacham Road in Elk Grove. I don't need the fancy do dad stuff. I am from the era with the saying: "Shave and a Haircut 2 bits". Yes, a haircut and a shave cost 50 cents. During my lifetime. So to hear a regular hair cut was 19 bucks I thought oh well, it is what it is. After all, we go to McDonalds and drop 12 bucks and dump it out in the porcelain throne a half hour later. I get this very nice young lady. She askes what number I want. Number? All I knew was when my lady friend cut my hair with her you know what's in my face I wasn't thinking numbers but, my hair looked damn good. SO, I said I trust you, make me look from 63 years old to 39. (Maybe I'll meet a younger woman that way.) So, she says, "Let's try and 5 and we can always take off more." I said nothing off the top because I am going for the 'poof' effect. When she was done working her magic, I saw this cut take 24 years off my life. Marry Me I thought. No just joking. I miss my lady friends haircuts not just because they looked so good, but also for the extra features which this hairstylist did not give me. She better not have. She said I can come back in between cuts to have a slight clean up and I'm not talking adult diapers now.I was flabbergasted to hear that I just paid 19 buckeroos (not including tip) and I can COME BACK FOR FREE for tune ups? SIgn me up for the monthly deal. Afterall, at my age, I may never met a woman who can give a great hair cut and lean into me like my lady friend did. I give this place 25 stars! If you go to So-So Clips (and for those of you who don't know who So-So was watch the Banana Splits or some cartoon from the 60'or 70's. When you shop at the Jewel on Wise and Roselle you will get a coupon for the Elk Grove Sports Clips. The coupon gives you an option for a first time client free haircut or a 5.00 off haircut. It started off with 7.00 a few years ago. Then it was 6.00 off. And now 5.00. The service is great there. I come here once or twice a month for the past year or so and they always do a good job. I think it's sort of away from traffic though and I worry about them not making business, but I know, judging from the past two reviews, there is no way it should be any less then 5 stars. For the bilingual customers out there I know they have a Polish and a Serbian hair cutters there and they have done a good job every time I have had them. Not sure if they have a Spanish one. The place is clean and as usual lots of sports in there. Again...I have not gone to any other Place but this place with the exception of a Sportclips in Ohio since I temporarily work there. And FYI...they give free haircuts on Veterans Day to vets. I also think they give discounts to military as well.

I had visited Kathy at Sportsman Barber Shop when she worked there, so I knew she could do it! She spent plenty of time asking both of us what we wanted and helping us figure it out. When we left we were both pleased! It made our day. This is a great place! It's in a historical building in downtown Winfield, just down the road from St. John's church. Kathy is still doing some renovations here, so I didn't have the full picture of how cute it will be when she's finished. When you walk in the front door, she has a goody bar on the left with some sweet treats (think the Little Popcorn Shop in Wheaton) and some coffee. She has an old fashioned barber chair for her clients to sit in and relax while she does her magic. Parking for here is off of Beecher Road, before the intersection of Church and Beecher. Stop in for a visit and leave with a great look!
