Shopping at Sharp Shopper is like a treasure hunt for grocery deals. We often shop here for deals on snack foods like chips, crackers, soups, soda, etc. Stuff you'd usually pay a couple bucks for at Giant or Costco you can get for a dollar or two. Don't go in expecting to get a certain name brand of something, its a mishmash kinda like an Ollie's for food but much cleaner and better organized. One perk is they sell single cans of soda, so if you've wanted to try a certain brand or just want a treat, you don't need to purchase a whole 12 pack. I've found great deals on cake mixes, cereal, mac and cheese, flavored drink mixes and several frozen items. Do keep an eye on the prices, some of them are misleading and seem like a good deal but I did find cheaper items at Giant. They have a produce section that has some basic items but check the expiration dates. Some run close if not over them. They also stock local meats and cheeses a plus for local businesses, as well as bulk items like flour, sugar, candy, nuts, etc. Employees are friendly and will help answer questions. They also have clean rest rooms, a plus if you need them or have young kids. Overall a great place to supplement those snacky and frozen foods on your grocery list and save a few bucks while you're there. read more

This Sharp Shopper is near an international airport and the PA Turnpike which makes it the perfect pre-road trip stop for snacks and essentials. When Lady Matilda and I began our 2023-2024 work travels, we would stop in for inexpensive offerings of the usual coffee, drinks, crackers, lunch meat, juice, and other stuff. We tend to host meetings in our hotel suite for brokers and dealers looking for the newest and weirdest objects of power and knowledge. Negotiations over price can take a long time, so it is important to have energy drinks and snacks on hand to keep everyone alert and focused on the deal. Sharp Shopper allows us to provide a wide range of cheap treats for any palate. It is not uncommon for the cabals and covens to line up at a buffet of foods that would have cut deep into our profits if procured from the regular stores. I credit one successful negotiation to providing a High Wizard with his first sleeve of Triple-Double Oreos that I got there for less than $3. There would always be a special treat in the form of some unexpected surplus buy or discontinued seasonal product. An amazing bottled tea that didn't sell for $4 at the Organic Health Grocer might show up here and sell for $6 a case. On average, it's cheaper than Walmart and we often find higher-end products far below retail prices. The lunch meats and cheeses are usually excellent quality but rotate from different sources, so your experience may vary. Despite being fresh from the vendor, the prices are still quite reasonable. Beware the "Best By" date! if a product has more than two price tags on it, chances are the product has been sitting for a long time and is likely not good. If the price is 99 cents, that's a red flag. I've purchased items within the Best By date at that price only to discover stale or weird-tasting products. Sometimes, the way the products are priced and stocked causes a problem. The boxes are cut open so that the box can be used in the display and the units can be tagged for sale. More often than I care to mention, the stockers will accidentally cut into the packaging and even the inside lining, so be mindful of that when you grab a box or two. I bought cereal (they have LOTS of cereal) and the gash in the bag spoiled the contents. When the store is busy, they do not stop stocking. It's hard enough to work through customers trying to decide between six different Ben & Jerry's products in the freezer section, but then there are usually 2 or 3 stockers with giant carts slowly unloading products and blocking each aisle. Someone may also be standing over a shelf counting units, preventing you from reaching something you want. Most like to pretend the customers are not there. Lines are often long at peak hours, but they do a good job of keeping things moving with open registers. Be patient. If you're not loyal to brands and don't care what kind of waffles you throw in the toaster, you will likely be able to cut your budget down by picking the most common items here. read more

Five stars simply for the low prices and huge savings. The selection of products changes often but they usually have what you want in most areas of the store. I couldn't believe what I came home with for $40-50 and a cart full of groceries. This won't be a replacement for a lot of your shopping list, like fresh meats and many dairy products, but it will make shopping at your regular grocery store less expensive. Sparse selection of produce and a lot of it is close to expiration, but still good deals to be had. Definitely worth the trip from Harrisburg and a regular stop for my home shopping needs. read more

Sharp shopper has truly saved me money, love the staff, and appreciate their mission statement. Well keep getting bad fruit and vegetables. Just took some back and got a refund and hot my onions lettuce cucumbers home and low and behold half the bags of onions were soft and spoiled. Cucumber didn't make it a day. Lettuce I left out for the animals. They get no more of my money for these items. If it doesn't come in a wrapper I'm done!!! read more

During the time I was off for covid I was desperate to get out of the house but also needed to go to the store. We choose this location simply for the distance and the excuse to take a long drive and get a chore done at the same time. I'm a huge fan of the Leola location and while this location is similar there were some differences, mainly in product and layout. We went before masks were mandatory but ourselves and others were masked as were the employees. They also had cart wipes inside. If you've never been to a SS or are unfamiliar with discount grocery shopping in general my advice would be to go here before the regular grocery store. You also must be flexible as you never know what you'll find and may not get everything on your list. In fact it's better to go in blindly without expectations of what you'll make for dinner, see what's available, and come up with your menu on the fly. The prices are reasonable and the majority of the items are in date, although nearing expiration. Produce and fresh meats in general are very skimpy in supply and selection. However canned and process foods are in abundance. You can also find odd products or variations of your favorite brands that you can't find in stores due to being discontinued. Although I doubt if I'll visit this location again due to the distance, should I find myself up that way on grocery shopping day I'll definitely pop in. read more

I came in this past Saturday. The pricing is nice, but they should probably retrain their cashiers and baggers. The lady I had helping bag only put 3 items per bag and then refused to put them in the cart, instead leaving them up on the counter. I had to reach over the top of the cart to grab the bags and I'm not tall, so it was very uncomfortable. Then the cashier didn't bag at all after that lady walked away. I was only going through the area, but I will never be back. That was incredibly rude. read more

It's been a while since I updated my review and I just want to let you all know that Sharp Shopper is still a 5-star establishment. I stand behind my prior review with confidence. I shop there at least once a month and I maintain that, if you go to Sharp Shopper BEFORE you go to your regular grocery store, you can save a boat load of money. Because they do not maintain bar code scanners, I audit my receipt from time to time and the cashiers have never been off by even one penny. Today I purchased 67 items totaling $146.65 and my cashier today, Donna G, entered them all correctly. Again, the caveat: watch the product dating. Don't be tempted to buy more than you will use before the stuff goes out of date. read more

Sharp Shopper is a treat! Its very clean, bright, and organized. They do not accept coupons but they don't have to! They have name brand items at very low prices. I always check the expiration because sometimes the prices are so low its crazy and then I check, and they're expired. Its usually canned goods which I guess wouldn't kill you but I still stick with what's current. Even with those items crossed off of my list I can still get a great pile of stuff for cheap. I don't think I've ever spent more than $60 there. Some of my favorite deals are: 1. Keurig pods: I purchased a 18 pack of Starbucks k cups for $3.99 2. Cheese ends from Groffs I think? Its just blocks of assorted cheese that I guess they get off the ends of big things of cheese and they're oh so good and OH so cheap 3. Beef sticks (when they have them) They're usually up front at check out. This past visit they were not. BUMMER but they're the real deal and super cheap 4. Canned soup - .50??? NON EXPIRED PROGRESSO SOUP! ACK! 5. Yogurt/cottage cheese singles - 3/$1! WHAT!? 6. Frozen items: This trip I got pizza for $1, some jimmy dean wake up sandwiches for $3, and a pint of ice cream for .50 Those are just highlights. They also have bulk baking items and candy and a pretty good revolving snack section. I often buy snacks to pack in lunch boxes here for way less than you'd pay at Giant or Costco. This is well worth the trip to supplement your normal grocery shopping. It's also a lot of fun to see what's new in stock! read more

I wanted to cry after visiting Sharp Shopper... Not because I had a bad experience, but because I had been spending so much money on groceries before visiting this store. I just moved out of my parents house, and into the real world. Paying rent and bills every month, on top of groceries can be a scary thing at first. But once I discovered this store, that all went away. You can get name brand items for SOOOOO cheap. And I'm sure you're thinking "Yeah, but I bet it has an expiration date of like.. next week." Nope, 90% of the items I've bought from this store have an expiration date months ahead of the date of purchase. The store itself is clean, and easy to navigate (with exception to the frozen section, but that's because there are so many great deals that there are dozens of people with carriages in that aisle). The men's room was probably the cleanest grocery store bathroom I've ever been in, especially when you consider that this is a discount store. All-in-all, if you don't start your shopping trips with Sharp Shopper, you are seriously missing out. This place is heaven on earth for the budget minded. read more

A neighbor of mine dragged me down to Middletown to buy groceries one day. She bragged about the place the entire way, as if it was the best thing since chocolate was discovered. Well, she was right! As soon as I started walking the aisles, I had a huge adrenaline rush, and had to control myself from literally jumping with joy. I am on Social Security Disability, so this place is a true godsend. The right half of the store is mainly canned stuff and I don't walk through it all the time, but there are plenty of deals to be had. I buy pantry items such as canned corn, tomato sauce and the like for a third of the price that Giant charges. Some brands are off brands and some aren't, but---hey---how dangerous is a can of off-brand corn anyway?! The ingredients are printed, so nothing is a mystery. The produce here is reasonable. I have not had any issues with anything I've bought. I buy a lot of root vegetables there this time of the year, and so far everything has been edible. Sometimes I hit the jackpot,such as when they get a shipment of herbs in and I can buy some fresh herbs for next to nothing. The deli meats are excellent and reasonably priced. Sliced cheeses are also available. Another regular jackpot is the dairy selection. The prices can be unbelievable. For example, I've seen high quality yogurts selling for next to nothing, such as Chobani individual portions for .25 cents each!. And yogurt is one of those dairy items that keeps well after the expiration date because it's fermented, so I just load up. Mind you, I have never seen expired yogurt there. Although SS doesn't have a standard meat department, it regularly sells Perdue parts and sometimes whole chicken, marinated pork tenderloins, all types of ham and occasionally beef. Sharp Shopper fits in very well with my limited food budget. It will with yours too. Check it out! read more

Can't beat their prices for everyday food. Name brands at super discounted prices. You have to be ready to buy whatever juice, etc, is available, but it is always in date and definitely wallet friendly. Everything from fresh produce to prepackaged meats and cheeses. The staff is generally pleasant and willing to help. Unlike Walmart or other grocery stores, they almost always have all checkouts open with a cashier and bagger...where else to you get that service. I had read and heard about this store, and had my doubts. The store is clean and employees friendly. There are many amazing deals to be found, as well as items you'd find for the same price at Wal-Mart. Don't plan on finding everything on your grocery list, but I found most items. I wish there were labelled aisles, like other grocery stores for ease of use... there are none, so one must travel each aisle to find what is currently available. No coupons, no points cards, no price matching...HOWEVER, I was pleasantly surprised to find my first trip there with half a cart full of groceries was $35.47. I will definately visit this store at least semi-regularly! read more

Hands down my favorite place to buy groceries! I live very close to this store and try to go here first before getting the things I didn't find at Giant down the road.
