I wanted to replace 20 year old chain link fencing and gates with new 6' high white vinyl fencing and gates. This was to offer better privacy than chain link and modernize the look of our house. I got 3 bids from local contractors and chose SHASTA FENCING for the job. BIG MISTAKE. The job was started, old fence and gates were removed, it rained because the job started in February, there was a delay because "we have new distributer" then after another week past "the company shipped the gate to the wrong address" until finally the pieces were at the job site. This company has MANY different employees and some admitted that they have other jobs, and don't do fencing full time. And the proof is the job that Shasta Fencing left me with. Every time their employees came out I told them the job was not acceptable and pointed out the sub standard work. To fix the sagging main gate a new employee installed a wheel - but created new holes and left a useless lock system. My small gate was NOT INSTALLED PERPENDICULAR to the fence that OTHER Shasta Fencing employees had installed earlier. After about a week, I phoned the owner, he told me "I'm not doing anything more for that f***ing gate, this is why I hate f***ing vinyl, I never did vinyl until your f***ing job, and I'll f***ing never ... " - at which point I hung up and immediately began to regret ever using these arrogant, rude, un professional, below standard fence industry HACKS. I used Shasta fence a couple of years ago and had the worst experience ever! They tore down my existing fence and gate and made a mess of my property, tearing my pool liner with their hoses, broke my pool fence and destroyed my perfectly good gate! I am still unhappy with the gate. I spent over $8000.00 and the owner came out, looked at it and said. " oh that's an easy fix but no one ever came out to fix it. I called him out 3 times! Where do these horrible contractors come from and why do they not have pride in their company? Why prey on people when they can actually be proud of the work they do and get paid? I am so sick of it! Why are you writing good reviews when this company sucks! Now I have to pay someone else to provide me with a gate that is functional. read more

Shasta Fencing did a great job building a black vinyl chain link fence around the pool. There were some challenging slopes and 3 gates along with the clay/cobble soil on the West side of Redding. The crew was friendly, knowledgable, and cleaned up each day. One crew member, Matt, even sang songs whil e he worked! After chasing someone from Shasta Fencing to come and measure our daughter's new house' back and front for an estimate Pete came . He told me they were very busy and that he and his son are writing estimates to many people and that he would email me ours on the following couple of days or so . After 4 days I sent him messages where we had been texting but didn't get a response. After a week I called him and ask him if he had our estimate and he said : " Oh , no , we won't be able to do your job ". That's it . I guess our daughter's 300' feet redwood fence wasn't big enough of a project for them ? I wanted to fence my 5 acres for goats and sheep to get the fire danger down. Pete Kurz, owner of Shasta Fencing, was 1 of only 2 to return my call and come out to give me an estimate. Of the 2, only Pete sent me an estimate - which was reasonable. It is almost a half mile, no climb fencing with barbed wire on top, tight to the ground. No coyotes or dogs can get in. The goats haven't gotten out. Steel corner posts are set in concrete. It is a great fence! Pete and his crew were efficient and professional. There were places where they needed to cut out brush to get through. They also installed an electric fence for my Labradors. They replaced a gate to the swimming pool. Peter did a great job on the fence. But when I looked at the latch on the gate it was put on out of alignment so only someone very strong could open and close it. I was so disappointed. Our condominium association hired Pete at Shasta Fencing to replace approx, 2,000 linear feet of cedar fencing, including many gates to individual homeowners. Their quote was lower than two other vendors, and they responded quickly to our questions. Some boards warped at the early stages, and they replaced those boards and added an extra railing near the top to prevent other boards from warping, all at no extra charge. They had to deal with many homeowners' special requests, which they handled graciously. The finished fence looks great, and I highly recommend Shasta Fencing. read more

Workmanship comes out nice but don't pay them until the job is done. Make sure the job is complete and what was agreed upon in the original bid. Had a recent experience after the bid all work was not complete and they requested more money to finish the job. Had to pay someone else to finish what they should have. It was very disappointing and unprofessional. Overall nice work did show up on time etc. But don't pay them until you have seen the completed project so you don't end up in the situation I did. read more

Pete and his crew made getting a fence a breeze. Pete got back to us quickly after our initial phone call and came out to look at our lot and gave us several options. Our estimate was online quickly. He came out prior to installation and plotted out the fence line, taking into consideration our shrubs, whenever possible. Our lot drops off to a gully and Pete discussed how best to handle the slope. A few days prior to installation, Pete came out and marked where the fence posts would go, which helped us to visualize the parameters. They came one day to set the posts and returned the next day and added the rails and completed the fence and the gates. What we really appreciated was that they came on time and whenever we had a question, Pete always got back to us by phone within a couple hours.
